Started all 46 games for a team who finished 3rd in the league last season and only had a year left on his contract, but as of a week or so ago he signed a new deal. I think someone like this if we'd pursued it would've been attainable for under what I said. But what we'll probably do is give John Souttar £25k a week.

I agree with you and we don't want that but I'd have been trying to cull anyone of a certain wage or above in this position, and that almost certainly includes Harry Souttar, who I actually do quite like as it happens. 2

That sounds very much like the time in Germany when I tried to get back from a match in Gelsenkirchen but wouldn’t pay the taxi fee, spent an hour on the streets at 4am only to hail the same driver I’d refused to pay extra and agree the same price. 1

Vestergaard was possessional a one trick pony and got found out towards the end of Marescas tenure, let alone afterwards. Stand on the ball and draw in possession, then overhit a pass to Winks or the false 9, or just go sideways. Vestergaards biggest problem though was he was an awful defender, not just his pace, which was catastrophically bad. He would have been bullied and beaten for pace all the time. And he would get beaten in the air. At least Souttar has defensive attributes. He would have been an absolute disgrace this season. Can't believe we are already in the position of trying to pretend Vestergaard would have been a solution 1

He was dreadful at everything else mind If a good passer is only capable of putting danger balls into midfield (or the false 9), then i'm glad i have no desire to watch that style of football. A good passer can see space, is creative, can invent opportunities etc. The ball Souttar sent to Mavididi was better than most of what I saw from Vestergaard, just he was very inconsistent the whole game. Most people love the stats, but for Jannik those high %'s were easy sideways passes. Very rarely, did he actually play a 'good' pass. And telling me i talk rubbish the the highest praise from you - thanks. Looking forward to you posting that Alves and Brayebrooke are rubbish in a few weeks.
