Need a new mentality instilled within the team and there’s only one man for the job

I feel we need an English manager, yep they aren’t great I know… but get Eddie Howe now..

Argentina deserved to win tonight, but I find them despicable… Spain fan, and Spain will shank them. Spain aren’t weak mentally like we are.

for how england played the last 37mins of course they do, i thought it was pretty even until england scored, then ofc we know what happened

once Tuchel changed things tactically, it handed the game over to argentina and they took full advantage

shows it when england only had 12% possession for the last 37mins

for me england should sack him, has he improved england? no, did he come up with the goods at the time england needed them most....no

He deserves to be sacked didn’t achieve more than Southgate and that last 30 minutes.. I have never seen an England team any England side so outclassed.. it’s the worst I have ever seen

Have never seen such a swing in a match.. if we are saying Argentina are so good and the like and accepting that.., you aren’t looking at the bigger picture. We managed that game so well until we scored, then just bottled it… bottled it yeah, totally outclassed to a point when the players look like Sunday league footballers is just pathetic. Sorry worst England performance since Iceland..,

Our mindset whoever is in charge is to try and see a game out against top opposition in knockout stages.
It’s so negative.
Have a go. You can’t try and see a game out for over half an hour against the reining world champions.

We were. But they were beatable.
They have struggled against lesser opposition and were imo there for the taking.
Hope Spain batter them.

Tuchel seems to see the games like us and calls out some of the same things, I heard “Too passive after the goal “ tonight and discontent with the overall quality vs Norway. Difference is, for his salary wedge he should have some influence on things that we don’t have the chance to affect. It suggests a dis-connect between what he asks for and what he gets, who’s to blame?

I know that if I was a player who had contributed to keeping Argentina out for 55 minutes but then had tactical substitutions encouraging a sit in / retreat I’d be feeling like it’s an unwanted intervention and a dictation towards a distinct philosophy out of my control.

yeah great, cant wait for england to failure again in the euros

Why are they so quick to back. Do they not believe in taking the time to think before just sucking him off?

If they keep him after some thought process, fine.

Talk, reflect and then make a proper decision

Rinse and repeat.

It will be the same negative mentality as soon as we are in a winning position.

Spain and France will beat us easily.

I genuinely think Pep would be interested, but ah well. Thanks FA....

Argentina players rather naughty  post match holding a flag about the Falklands.

https://www.reuters.com/sports/soccer/argentine-players-brandish-political-falklands-flag-after-england-match-2026-07-15/

I don’t agree with it, it’s bad form.

But it does highlight how patriotic they are. It’s an advantage in international football. Look at how Croatia punch above their weight as well. How the Germans always had that winning culture through different generations. The Italians too at one point. Brazil are ashamed to score less than 3 goals in a match.

All these countries go through bad eras where they don’t produce players but when they do, the players realise the importance of playing for their specific country and becoming immortal. John Stones was asked about the match and he’s just reeling off generic statements with no emotion. You can bet the Argentine players acknowledged the importance of the match in their interviews. That they grew up watching clips of Maradona, that they appreciate the rivalry, etc. They knew this was about pride and glory.

English people aren’t patriotic and I get the feeling the World Cup is no different to the Champions League for the players. They want to win trophies, of course they do, but they don’t see the England shirt as this glorious thing that they are proud of and will treat like life and death.

It’s so easy for Argentines to mix politics and sport because it’s the same thing to them. England would like to win, and have the potential to, but the determination isn’t on the same level.

Some might disagree but mentality plays a huge part and over the years I’ve noticed England players feeling pressure and dread but rarely talking about the great England World Cup games they watched growing up or something like that. They aren’t even football fans in the traditional sense.

I think Tuchel has made a lot of good calls and decisions in this World Cup. He’s not  been perfect,  but I’ve been impressed with him. But the decision to defend so deep so early after our goal with so much of the game left was a BAD mistake. It created a mentality within Argentina that we couldn’t stop and a mentality within us we could t change after the equalizer. A very disappointing way to go out..

Yes at points, but let’s face it same stuff against Norway.. it seemed to be something Tuchel fell back on rather than inspiring the team to attack.. everything he said that made that great performance against Croatia went out the window. Players bottled it and the manager did too… spurs through and through

Cancel Martinez contract, he can stop living off our economy if that’s how he feels

Doubt Villa fans will give a flying one.

He's part of their best team in 30 years and that's all they care about.

That's part of the issue with English football.  Too many fans - and players - care far more about their clubs than the national team.

I said it sir Gareth deserves respect… let’s face it he didn’t get us to glory but neither did we look so outclassed in a game like tonight… you can say he was negative, but he at least was competitive.. when 1 up tonight we looked like Sunday league footballers

Gareth did the same in a semi final and lost!!

Are we ever going to win the World Cup again? It genuinely feels like we never will. We just can’t get over the line and just don’t have the right mentality. Over 60 years and so many different players and managers and we can’t even get to a World Cup final

our win in 66 doesnt really count anymore. its a different sport now.

Yeah in 2018 when the team we had wasn’t of this quality… I think people are just accepting English players are shit… Kane, Bellingham, Gordon, rice, Guehi… Southgate didn’t have. Croatia were better than us then, Argentina aren’t.. you can laugh and say well they outclassed us. But they really don’t have the talent we have.. I mean we left foden, palmer, Trent.. and gibbs white at home..
