For his development it’s a great move, it did Braybrooke and Joseph wonders playing week in week out at league two level, and I’m genuinely looking forward to the loan watch thread to see how he gets on. Looks like a proper goal getter, albeit a bit raw

But in the here and now, we need 2 centre forwards signed who are both match fit and ready to play in 10 days time. Can’t be dicking around playing Bob Reid up top

Chaplin, Cullen and BDCR to false 9 the league to death

This is what the manager is going to do, with the addition of a few more signings I'd imagine.

For me we should have at least one old fashioned target man in the squad where we need to grind out games.

Surprised me this, thinking he’d be around the squad. A big stand out this pre season by his performances with lots of game time I think he returns a real asset if he can continue with the knack of being in the right place at the right time.

Has to be another striker coming in on top of Bristric.

If we bring in two strikers, or, one and use Jake Evans more as a 9 then I don’t mind this at all - a run of games could be great for him.
however, he had a great pre-season and I’d have liked to have seen him start on Saturday

Idiotic decision

If the the club management knows it signing two strikers this week and we can use Cullen as a third choice option its still idiotic?

Was hoping we’d keep him as third choice this season, but nevertheless, it’s a good move for him, fingers crossed he smashes it.

But now we’re left with a versatile false 9 type in Cullen, Bristric who seems to be more of a dribbling/ball-carrying type who likes to run in behind.

With what Russell has had in the past, is a proper target man the missing piece of the jigsaw, or do we see a striker in the mould of Joel Piroe and Che Adams 🤔

Obviously not, but we all know we won't have things that easy.

As much as I am in favour of us trying to scout hidden gems in obscure foreign leagues, I can't entertain the thought that Bristric will be the only striker we sign.

i think he has every intention of playing cullen up front.

Watched an interview with a swansea fan on one of them lcfc channels and he said he started as a number 9 for them pretty much all season until he was dropped.

That worries me.

Watson, Mavididi (assuming he not sold) Alves, Riley, DVD Recorder will fill up the wide slots. (with options of a couple playing in a 10 also)

Chaplain and Page competing for the 10 with Braybrooke and one from Choudry and Skipp as it stands in 6 and CDM role

Surely we've got strikers coming in then?

I was sure we'd go into the season with Bristric as the first choice number 9 with Otchere and Opoku on the bench.

To be 4 days away from the 1st game of the season without a striker is pretty criminal. Especially considering we've known since at least January that we would go into the summer with Daka and Ayew leaving.

Think day one it’ll be Bristric and Cullen as 9’s and then when we get another Cullen will

move back

Suprised at this, thought opoku was more likely to go seeing as he didn’t feature in Spain did he?

Northampton sniffing around him apparently

Didn't he have a knock?

I could see Bristric coming in early next week. Opoku heading on loan around the same time, and then I think we run it deeper into the window where if/when Mavididi goes, we replace with a centre forward like Ballard/Pebble/Wareham

I don't think Chaplin and Cullen's playing styles compliment each other, they both like to drop deep and need runners of them.

Why are we loaning him! He's scored more goals in preseason then his peers

Plus we're short of strikers.

Send Bobby out on loan!

It needs to be pointed out that Cullen played in a front 2 under Brussell with Piroe. As a 9 on his own he is not anywhere near strong enough.

Not like us to sign a striker suited for a front two only to play them as a lone 9
