But it's completely fair to say that Marc Albrighton's fitness, work ethic and professionalism are what defined him as a player above his technical ability, pace, strength or his footballing IQ.

This is where I'm disagreeing with you though.

Albrighton didn't get 44 Premier League assists because he worked hard and kept himself in good shape. He was a real danger when he had space out wide. His crossing regularly led to goals.

There's a reason why Cullen is 27 as an attacking player yet has only ever produced 41 league goals/assists. It's because he's never in the right areas to affect the game. He can work as hard as he likes off the ball (i'm not even sure he works that part yet) but he does not impact the game in an attacking manner.

I completely understand the comparisons to Praet, Reid etc because they are also players that work hard off the ball but don't impact the game offensively but I just completely disagree with a comparison to Albrighton though who had real quality going forward and whose presence was always felt on the pitch.

It's a bit unpopular on here but Albrighton was really shit in his final few seasons, just relentlessly gave the ball away and despite working hard was a bit of a defensive liability because he was beaten easily, gave away a few penalties too.

Doesn't detract that he was absolutely brilliant prior to that.

Because his legs went. Doesn't define him as a player.

Hopefully it becomes clear he shouldn’t be starting too many games as the season goes on

I don't suspect he will be if/when Chaplin is regularly fit.

If he's fit he's likely to feature in most games for you whilst Martin is in charge. We had to watch him start game after game whilst Morgan Whittaker got five minutes at the end.

To be fair being a Welsh International kinda goes both ways with me for people like Cullen and Ward.

He's crap for Wales too and I have to watch him for two teams lol

I’m glad you took it as intended. I feel bad for you though pal, having to watch him in two capacities 😭

Might be wrong and he is shit but have we all decided he's this year's baddie? It's only been two games...

I think it's a lot of pent up energy from the last few years.

We badly needed a complete rebuild this season and Cullen is just more of the same of what got us here in the first place. That being manager based recruitment when we need a long term strategy.

He's also been useless so far in our worst start to a season ever, which was what a number of our fans expected from him yet the club somehow didn't.

A very fair point.  Not his fault he’s not good enough. He seems to graft at least but unfortunately it’s not what we need in attack.  We do love a scapegoat though, don’t we?

The fact Martin has worked with him and mccarthy before is very worrying

Yes one of many red flags.

He talks with such confidence Martin but a lot of it is twonk

Not made a good start but he’s going to be staying and wanted to come here so won’t do us any favours to get on his back so early. He’s never played outside his home club, too much to give him more than two games?

There is no doubt, he has been totally ineffective, or as others have said, Sh*t

however it is game 2 and he’s already been written off

some players hit it off from the off, or show something at least that there’s abit about them, some don’t and can take a settling in period, and granted some are just sh*t

but i think it’s very harsh to be writing him off completely after 2 games, that’s just desperation creeping in from some fans

I don’t personally think Cullen will ever wow us but with any luck he finds confidence in this lower league and can atleast bag several goals or upwards to 10 or so

He Has made some ok runs which just haven’t been picked up from anyone so I’m hoping Chaplin see’s him and can act as the key to unlock him

Jury is out and time is needed unfortunately

Problem is, I don’t really know what he is/how he fits into what Martin wants formation wise.

He’s not really robust enough to be a midfielder, so he doesn’t suit the 8 role Martin prefers - as has seen from his games for us so far.

If he was signed as a striker, it’s weird Martin has gone with BDCR up top over Cullen - maybe he could prove himself more in this position in the future.

We’re well stocked for wingers on the left and right, so I don’t see him establishing a starting spot on the flanks.

So you know - where do we play this guy?

I don’t think Martin knows and that’s stupid considering it’s obvious this is one of his signings.

Personally I’m bored of picking on Aiyawatt and Rudkin now, I need a new scapegoat. Cullen fits the bill perfectly.

Can only assume it came at him too fast, should have walloped it.

That fizzed to him TBF.

A confident and better player, obviously does better with that chance but it was a half chance at best.
