Does anyone know if the numbers that players wore yesterday will have any corelation to their actual squad number for the season?

It's normally announced a few days before the season starts. I wouldn't go buying any shirts with numbers on yet.

No, i was more thinking that no-one was wearing #9 so it could point to a potential striker signing.

Even if Nelson's injury needs a long recovery, we still must prioritise a striker. That and the goalkeeper positions are the two key ones.

Thought we played well for large parts of the game, especially first half. The press was very good and we created lots of chances. Braybrooke was excellent.

I noticed that the team started passing backwards into our own half more after half-time, and Genoa's press was better so when they got the ball, we were gifting them good positions. That needs to be addressed - there will be moments when that is necessary but it was happening far too often, especially from Reid and Mavididi.

It was frustrating seeing the team get into good positions and not going to the byline to get a cross in. But important to remember we were playing a Serie A side, and made them look ordinary for much of the game.

Like many on here, I've seen many positives this preseason which feels like progress and gives rise to some optimism. However, until the squad has been finalised and we are tested for real in the league over several games I have absolutely no idea how we are going to do.

I think it’s going to be a case of us dominating most games, but struggling to score goals.

My fear is our defence, I don’t think any combination is particularly good, and we’re definitely going to concede alot of poor goals from mistakes

We need at least one new CB and a striker. At this point I’d go for a loan CB from Man City, and spent what little cash we have on Dom Ballard…. Or someone who is like t to get double figured at this level.

I have a feeling he ends up abroad anyway.

Does that mean we still get compensation every time he moves clubs, c. 10% of the transfer fee? There's some weird rule.

Does seem that not being able to move any of the four CBs out and Wilson-Brown not in the picture is a problem for us. Especially as one of them now looks crocked. Surely need one CB who’s going to be a first choice this season on board this week.

.......Maybe number 9 has been retired, since Ayew left.

I believe we get some under the FIFA Training Compensation system.

Under FIFA’s Training Compensation system, the fee is calculated using a fixed formula: (Years aged 12–15 × Category 4 standard rate) + (Years aged 16–21 × New club’s FIFA category rate).

Rather than assessing the player's market value, FIFA multiplies the exact number of years the player trained at an academy by set yearly tariffs (ranging from around €10,000 for early youth years up to €90,000 per year for top-tier European clubs).

Because the fee depends almost entirely on the buying club’s assigned FIFA tier rather than open-market value, a player worth millions often leaves for a standardise compensation fee of just a few hundred thousand pounds.

If he went Borussia Mönchengladbach we would get about 400k.

How'd Cullo do?

Sounded like he had a few chances.

Cullo could’ve scored two. First chance he should’ve scored tbf

We will not be playing team of the standard we played last night.

Not the best angle, inclusive either way for me from that.

Doesn't really matter poor defending by both Thomas and Okoli.
