It’s hard to see how we will improve enough by next weekend.

Watson instead of Mavididi, Chaplin instead of BDCR and play Cullen at 9 unless we get a proper striker in.

If Chaplin isn’t ready bring in Burns and give Alves a game at 10.

It’s going to be a long season if that is the standard of performance levels we are going to get this season, offering virtually nothing against league 2 opposition it’s ridiculous really considering the starting 11 today have 406 premier league appearances between them, 4 of them have won the championship and one is an FA cup winner

I can't stand zero risk football. Playing the safe option every single time just means you don't create anything. We'll have some horrible results this year where we have 80%+ possession without creating anything and losing 1-0 to a mistake.

Ironically the risks we do take are in our own box and not their final third

He’s the reason we’re having a EFL Cup R1 fixture in the first place

🤤🤤🤤🤤

Flapped it bigtime with Rodgers and got in Dean Smith with no plan that’s why we went down.

Wasn’t Brendan’s fault Fofana was sold on the eve of the window closing.

Our fanbase also called for Enzo’s head with 6 games to go, he’s gone on to win the club World Cup and now got the city job, people have short memories.

Get behind the manager, he’s by far the most progressive coach we could get.

Think our fans really really overestimated our youth, and that is not a slight on them. They looked raw which will be worked out of them, and is exactly why people have stuck up for signing the likes of Burns and Cullen. The first month or two is not going to be seamless and I expect we will get stronger as the year goes on, so long as our fans don’t turn. Before anyone says it, I’m fully KP and Rudkin out and think we have been a disgrace for a long time, but thats what turning the corner from such a massive shitshow looks like

Braybrooke was MOM by a mile, Alves and Joseph also had good games, LT was decent. Watson looked direct when he game on and Aluko looked bright in a short cameo.

Its the first game of the season with a new manager and players so it's going to take time.

I'm not sure what role Cullen will play either when Chaplin is fit and plays 10. Cullen isn't a 8 or 10, winger or striker I'm not sure what type of player he is.

We're severely handicap without a recognised striker and Mavididi on the wing who needs to leave for his own sanity.

RMs tactics don't help either trying to play tippy tappy football with Okoli, Souttar and Skipp who are all very limited on the ball.

RM will insist with his tippy tappy buildup from defence so we desperately need 2 ball playing CBs and a physical deep midfielder who's also a good footballer along with 2 proper strikers before the window shuts otherwise it will be a tough season.

But it's not zero risk! With our players, it's high risk, and not in a good way!

RM is here now, he's going nowhere for a while so this is the style of football we're going to get.  But please man, for the love of God, don't play tippy tappy in our own box for at least the first 5 minutes, or the last 5 minutes if we're drawing or winning by 1.

The thing that I noticed was that when the back 4 were knocking the ball from side to side there were no options in midfield. Skipp was hiding, Braybrooke was pulling wide right cramping Alves and Cullen was going to the left. I would have liked to see Braybrooke more central, he was the only player looking to take the ball on the half turn.

I get the theory that if the opposition don't have the ball they can't score.

But Jesus, I write automations at work that are more exciting to watch. Going to be a tough gig trying to support this for 50+ games this season.

Problem is, players like Mavididi and BDR dont actually give two shits. Thats why we are in this mess in the first place. Need hungry, passionate players with a point to prove.

Reid must be counting down to retirement, he's lost the sharpness in his legs that he needs for his position. Should be thinking about the career after football or coaching badges.

Mavidivi looks just mentally gone and a succession of managers have been unable to get anything from him. Looks a long way down for him now, Greek football or wherever else he might be able to trade on his CV for one last contract.

Any reason weve never tried Mavididi as a Striker? He used to play there.

I would like have to at least seen us try it today.

Watson and Burns out wide, possibly have moved Alves to the '10' too

So why is he not in another job? And why leave a club after making it to the playoff final?

I don’t know the guy, sorry.

I do know that loads of managers that say they’re going to spend time with their family end up in jobs within weeks

And all of this because some Thai dude has this pre-conceived idea of what 'good football' looks like and won't budge on it.

Can't even be mad at Martin. It's what he does, we all knew what he stood for and he'll deliver exactly what he's always delivered. For as long as there are clueless owners pining for a certain brand of football (for reasons beyond my comprehension), he'll continue to find employment.

And you know what? He'll make a tidy living doing so, fair play to him.

Any idea of the attendance today anyone.

I would say whatever the west stand holds as it looked full from where I was sitting

I was mildly optimistic with the quick passing and on-the-whole, decent pressing in pre-season.

What the fvck was that today?

Back to slow passing out from the back, passing it back 80% of the time or losing it to the opposition from a press, especially in the second half. Alarm bells are sounding and I just hope and pray Martin was treating it like an extra friendly. He will have learned more about the team today than any of the other pre season games put together. That was awful.

The only positive is the youngster continue to impress.
