Talksport were told and tweeted by their own staff for ‘non football reasons’ pre match

He’s said this before though if I’m not wrong, I think it’s just him not understanding how that sounds. I don’t think it’s for discipline, he just doesn’t want to say they were the worst at football… I think he means more tactical reasons and just doesn’t say the right thing lol

If you start work at let’s say 8am,

I don’t think it’s to much to expect a someone to arrive at 7.55am for an 8am start,

rather than walking in at bang on 8am,

and not being ready beyond when they are told to start work,

though it wouldn’t surprise me if players ask for overtime for being on the pitch beyond the 90th minute nowadays,

and extra money for working away every other weekend

Ok, if you’re talking about being actually ready to start work, I understand what you are saying yes.

I mean I work in quite a flexible environment where people are still trusted to complete their workload to a high standard which comes before a rigid clocking in expectation. That is the important thing for me. Lots of time throughout a work day is spent having conversations, getting a coffee etc.

And that’s where, when we bring it back round to the club. For years they aren’t performing to a respectable standard and there has clearly been a problem with attitudes and culture so yes, I’d agree with you that the small measures are quite important in this case as similarly, small gains can be seen on the pitch.

As someone who is always early, you don’t get paid for this so being early is showing added commitment and not just to be taken for granted.

An ex of mine worked at food chain that had pretty much contracted start work 15 minutes early unpaid to do the shift change. Disgusting. Don’t blame the staff.

get to work in time to be presentable and work face on at go time. Training is at an expensive glorified spa, I’m sure you could get there early and chill out/jacuzzi in a nicer environment than home (and probably be waited on lol).

I’m in Martin o’neills time and similair you could get dropped or fined for sneezing at the wrong time, or daring ring the gaffa’s personally phone while the stadium burns down around you.

Because he looks miserable? And from first words of him being linked, it took weeks of stalling,  i still think he was holding out for other offers.

having watched him so far, I don't think he can command holding that lone striker position like Riis did on Saturday.

My gut feel is he might be better dropping slightly deeper and on the half turn and runs in behind from deep - a bit like Cullen but the right-footed version.

Seriously needs to work on his touch though.

Those writing him off have gone way too early though IMO.

Was always unlikely he'd go from Slovenian football to dominating League 1 within days of stepping off the plane. Going to take a while for him to acclimatise.

Same with the big Finnish centre back.

This:appl:.   Wish we closed this thread and gave him support.  We screwed up before with another young striker from the Balkans.  Foxestalk has previous.

I'm one of them. Was also disappointed when Mahrez started the first game of the 2015/16 season :D

I've since learned to give players time before writing them off - especially when they're acclimatising to a new level or new country.

Doesn't help him that he gets taken off before 60 minutes every game he starts.

We usually looked worse after he was taken off as well.

Probably because we’ve generally then gone to somebody like BDCR who isn’t a striker.

At least with this guy and Riis we can hopefully move away from playing the likes of BDCR (and previously Ayew) out of position. I’d rather have a proper striker making the right runs and being available even if he’s not yet getting the numbers in terms of goals and assists.

I just pray they stay fit.

square pegs in square holes

at the very least a 'proper' forward doing proper forward things should occupy defenders and create space and opportunity elsewhere. subject to the pace and directness or not of our attack !
