A back 5 not good enough in possession to suit the mangers style, no capable striker really at the club, bar a lower level foreign punt…. As it stand that team won’t get top 2, we are 4/5 players off that for me… if the manager will be as stubborn as we expect

How did the boy Alves get on? I think at this level with consisting game time and staying injury free he can be fantastic

He did really well and was a bright spark, especially as he had brain dead Thomas behind him.

Alves was trying to get Thomas involved with an overlap to cross or draw players away. You can only do so much when your supply and support is too scared to pass forwards even under no pressure.

I watched about 80 mins.

The pampered, overpaid dross seems to never end.

Awful defending, we get pressed & fold.

Just show some backbone & a will to put in some graft.

Fannies.

Now watching the rerun on Sky.

I don’t think I can watch too many games of this and it’s only 7 minutes in

Sky started doing full match reruns?

Yep if dont have the players to handle the type of football, just need to be pressed.

The same day we drew with Palace in the PL in the blistering October heat () in 2022, Notts County were losing at home to Coalville Town.

It really can change so quickly.

Positive from the game was the Alves, Baybrooke, JJ combo goal. Made in our academy, each doing their job well and JJ with a very clean strike.

If I was being generous, it was was an improvement from Northampton I thought, we just not going to score with Bobby as a 'striker', that's the issue. Alves and Burns were creating chances but no one to aim for, so end up going backwards/sideways or losing the ball due to lack of options.

Skipps passing was terrible along with others. We are a team that panics. When one does it's a ripple through the team which causes mistakes

But it was poor overall. Defence is not good enough at all, we need a Morgan type to marshall that back line. Thomas looks lost, even in League 1.

The refereeing in this league is going to be atrocious and that is going to wind me up something rotten. He was poor today for both sides.

I think we will get better, well, we have to. But Martin teams are slow burners and then I think it'll click. The first day is always a little unpredictable and some results are out of the norm. But improvements needed to break that so we can grab this league the way we want to.

Not much we didn’t already know, we’re not physical enough, not quick enough, no fit enough as a squad.

Hamza was absolutely useless, as was BCDR. CBs don’t look good enough to play Martinball.

I still hope that we sell 3/4 and bring in 3/4 before the window ends. If we buy some physicality, a passing CB or two, a no nonsense striker then all is not lost.

Unfortunately we’ve been giving LCFC the benefit of the doubt for about 8 years and that’s why patience is in short supply

Is this true?

Total touches inside the opposition box

Notts County 39 Leicester City 16

Overall possession

Notts County 30.8% Leicester City 69.2%

Yes,

here’s an Heat map of our team today, I’m sure I don’t need to tell you which way is the goal, as a team we had a collective of 840 touches of the ball, 567 of them was the keeper, the back 4 and Skipp

not enough communists in our team, that's for sure

i dunno, getting paid whether you put a shift or don’t, seems to suit a few of them

Would absolutely love any one of those three on my team.

They will be fun to watch this season.

Can anyone explain signing and starting McCarthy to me?

At Southampton he persisted with the horrendous Bazanu because he was apparently good with his feet despite all stats showing he was letting in the most goals per shot. He got injured and Martin was forced to play him, and granted he was much better than Bazanu but Southampton fans said this was because he didn't do the brain-dead stuff out from the back.

I thought we'd signed him to be the no.3 behind the younger keepers but he's starting ahead of them. Martin knows he can't pass out yet has asked him to play like that?

Make it make sense.
