Lowest Position Ever in Club History

There was another depressing stat during the coverage of the match, we dropped a total of 32 points from winning positions last season. 32!

We're already on 2 for this season.

This is why I’ll never have the “we’ve seen it worse than you” arguments. You only have to be in your 20s/30s to have witnessed the absolute worst.

It’s incomprehensible that five years ago, we won an FA Cup, had a club valued in top 20 in world football (I’m sure there was a graphic saying that???!), had a squad valued in the hundreds of millions and consistently finished in the upper echelons of the EPL. Five years on, here we are. With BDCR leading the line and 11th in league 1. Led by an armadillo.  And still the same DoF. It literally beggars belief.

It's got so bad that I told @spacemunky that I might go watch my Canadian hometown Hamilton club called Forge FC (big dogs in the Canadian Premier League) this upcoming Wednesday. 

 

This league is ranked lower than league 2 lol.

This collapse isn’t just predictable, it’s the inevitable outcome of a club being run by people who have absolutely no business being anywhere near the top of a football organisation. The transfer business has been a disgrace, the squad is slow, weak, and completely devoid of leaders, and there isn’t a shred of fight or pride anywhere in the dressing room. Martin will be sacked by Christmas because he’s been handed a cowardly, directionless rabble that folds the moment anything goes against them. We’re sinking, and the people in charge are too clueless, too arrogant, and too wrapped up in their own delusions to even recognise the damage they’ve caused. Top has taken a serious football club and turned it into a pathetic, stumbling embarrassment, a clown playing owner while the whole thing burns around him.

I finally asked myself the dreaded question today - would you trade the two trophy wins for still being in the top division and playing attractive football?

 

And of course the answer is no and will always be no, but it's the first time I've even contemplated it. I think more than anything, more than the fall through the leagues, it's the relentlessly dull, lifeliess, spineless football. Anti-football. Promoted by unintelligent, uninspiring men who have no idea of their own limitations.
