They got to the semi-finals of the UCL in 8 out of 10 seasons between 2005-2015 and they won it 4 times in that period. Won La Liga 7 times in that period too.

Looked like a good crowd at the Bridge for  Shakhtar Donetsk's  "home game" v AEK Athens.

 

Guess it was Ukraine  and Greek nationals at the game who live in London and locals maybe wanting to see a game of football?

Also when you factor in how much more competitive La Liga was during that period. 

 

PSG get a lot of support from the French league to be fresh for these CL games and they'll play Lyon/Marseille/Monaco at worst the following week, not having Real with Ronaldo at his absolute prime waiting for you to slip up.

21 thousand empty seats at Man City last night. Sometimes I roll my eyes at the emptihad jokes but that is poor. Especially as all their fans deny the empty seat thing so staunchly.

Admittedly I didn't look in the last couple of weeks but I considered taking my 9-year-old lad to this because he's obsessed with Champions League and like most 9-year-olds, obsessed with top level players. But it wasn't general sale and there is no way I'm paying for a Man City Membership.

 

I have sympathy sometimes but that's not a great a look for them.
