9 shots against

with 29 percent possession

something fundamentally wrong with the game plan

This is Russball. Similar stats when he coached Southampton and Rangers.

We don’t even know what our best 11 is going to be yet. Several more outgoings and incomings too in the next week. We probably won’t start properly clicking until October at the earliest. Maybe November.

And, unfortunately, those calling for Martin to go can absolutely forget it.  He’s just signed a 3 year deal… do you honestly think we can afford to pay up his contract?

its going to be an arduous season

I’d accept this if it wasn’t for the case that Martin is making a clear mistake in not playing a double pivot.

Our players would be much better suited to that style, especially as this provides extra central defensive cover.

It would also allow for more runs from deep and reduce the onus on our centre halves and goalkeeper to start attacks.

The players he’s got at the moment are not suited to his favoured formation (with two 8’s) and what happens is too many players end up beyond the ball, we lose it and teams can counter and gain space / chances too easily from very little possession.

Teams sussed us out in the second half of Enzos season. Let us have the ball because all we are going to do is recycle it sideways and backwards, trigger a press and our players will fold under pressure and give the ball away. That panic will lead to further defensive mistakes.

Nothing has changed since. We are an incredibly easy team to play against.

Lovely ticketing fiasco at the start of the game too.

Remember the digital way is so much more efficient.

Also, anyone notice the bigger barriers making sure we're policed even more at the turnstiles.

Rotten.

Bradford isn’t far. Live near Harrogate and given  up season ticket after 13 years. Told my grandson yesterday who lives in Harrogate I will start going with him . Has to be better and a lot nearer

"near harrogate". Bingley. That's basically Bradford.

We've got a perfectly good team for L1, but they can't play Russell's shit system. Its entirely predictable.

Players, manager and board were expecting to come down and piss the league and the disrespect they are showing it is unreal. Yes they are league 1 teams, but so are we. They seem to think we are prem or championship standard and we really aint. The defence is shocking, the goalkeeping is awful and the discipline is dreadful.

33/1 on us being relegated and all but dooming the club by the way. Not impossible. Improbable, but definitely not impossible.

Oh no, the three dots of doom have appeared. How will I cope without watching the second half? 😱

They arent, they are advances on parachute payments to keep the club afloat because of cashflow issues. If they get a feeling the club cant honour our commitment to paying them back they will call it in.

That's not how loans work. You can't just call the amount in because you feel like it. There has to be failed covenants as part of the agreement.

Also calling any loan in likely sees the club in administration or liquidation which brings risks as the achievable value as part of assets sales then drops.

100’s of kids are watching their first ever game 😓

I took my kids to see their first ever game a couple of seasons ago - v West Ham. Night game at home under lights, Premier League. Jamie Vardy scored in the first 90 seconds right in front of us. A magical moment.

Little did we know.

Doesn't help that teams in the lower leagues are really happy to sit deep as an organised unit and then play direct once they get the ball. It's bread and butter stuff and we refuse to have a plan B.

At least now we seem to have a centre forward with some aggression and movement. Not had that since Vardy left.

Its not because they feel like it but if they have evidence that we are no longer able to fulfil our obligations then they will take whatever collateral has been built into the agreements. I imagine thats the training ground at the very least.

I had to re-watch that Joseph goal sounds amazing 44 passes to a goal, but then I was like meh 35-40 passes either in our own half or forwards backwards, then 4 passes that actually matter to score the goal, can we just skip the first part that doesn't really gain much other than pad the possession stats, risks losing the ball in dangerous areas and still creates the same chance as the last 4-6 passes does.
