I really feel for you guys as I've always had a soft spot for the Foxes, even after you trashed us 9-0 [Saints fan in peace].

I personally hated every second of watching our games under Russell Martin, even during our promotion to the Pem. season the football was turgid, he would also throw players under the bus regularly and persist with ticky tacky football even when we were chasing games.

Been supporting Saints for over 60 years and Martin was the worse manager I've had the misforture of watching.

Good luck guys, I think your going to need it.

He's 77 years old, last worked in a full time capacity as a manager 3 years ago, would want to commute from Cornwall and last led a club to promotion 9 seasons back. 

 

15 years ago perhaps worth a call but unless you're firing up a time machine at the same time you are hiring him it would be an absolutely insane move.

The initial post was a bit tongue in cheek! however Old school no nonsense Managers might be the answer as the possession obsessed football we appear to be addicted to is embarrassing!

Managers are perfectly capable in their seventies, Roy Hodgson 76 yrs old when he managed Palace! 

Living in Cornwall not insurmountable Seagrave  has accommodation, it could happen should he want it just saying !

This issue its the club who are obsessed with it. You make it sound like we have just been a bit unlucky with the managers we have appointed. Even Rowett seems incapable of veering away from a variant of 4-3-3;.

 

If the club was desperate to move away from this, its really not very hard to do do.

Given Mckenna and Challinor are out for personal reasons, I dont think Mckenna would come anyway. I would put money on Edwards or Parker being top of the list.

 

Top four names there would be great, but Edwards, McKenna and Parker are championship level rather than league one. Challinor is more the realistic option as I think he would probably know that Leicester would be the biggest club he will ever get the chance to manage, would be too good too turn down even under difficult circumstances. Challinor I can imagine would be that good feel good factor in the club that we would need and would get things back to basics. I think the younger players would enjoy playing for him. The staff he would bring in, would be unknown to us but effective as they were for him at Stockport.

Just a dumb question from me -- and I am NOT asking for this man to take charge at Leicester City.

 

But whatever happened to Tony Pulis?  Informally/formally retired?  I know he is 68.  But just a few years ago he and Big Sam seemed to be to 'backstop/avoid relegation' managers that everyone called.

 

Edit -- Never mind.  Spent 30 more seconds on Google to discover he formally retired at age 65.  (Though Corky's joke, below, had me laughing out loud for a bit.)

I would  take Dyche in a heartbeat, but I doubt he would take us.  And I don't even like the guy! (and I don't really know why)

Wasn’t suggesting the appointment of recent Managers was bad luck at all! It wasn’t a raffle prize we appointed them!

Helped steer Huddersfield to Championship safety in 2023. In 2024 he left Aberdeen after eight games and steering them into the semi finals of the cup due to too much interference from the grown ups!

Failed at Aberdeen, crap at Torquay. Not disputing he's had a phenomenal career, just disputing that he'd be a "smart choice" in our current predicament. Hope that helps.
