Might as well have been played at the training ground with that attendance. Makes a mockery of the competition but it's the insistence to put U21s I'm this stupid tournament. 

 

I'm glad we got the goals and I'm glad we thrashed them, but what was the point.

Considering how largely crap we've been this/last/the one before season(s), all this result does for me as a football fan is demonstrate that the under-21 element of the game is pretty ineffective for young players and their development.

 

Bring back the reserve league system.

I try and watch u21 games when the opposition team streams them and it’s pretty dire. It doesn’t even feel like you’re watching football at times which might sound harsh. 
 

You get so many high scoring games as well. It’s very basketball like

Fulham aren’t really known for being though academy players are they? Off the top of my head I can’t think of any

Yep either the training ground or took it around the county, played it at a local non league ground.

We are where we are. It was a good, competitive workout. Several youngsters got on the pitch. Many individuals got a confidence boost. Squad morale got an uplift. Many fringe players got some much needed match fitness. And I actually thought we looked positive in our play for once. All in all, a perfectly acceptable evening - for where we are now ……

No one is "moaning about winning 6-1". There's people saying it was good, people saying we should keep it in perspective, and people pointing out that it's crap we're in the competition in the first place.

Also thought this. If it wasn't for the international break we could have realistically put out a team that met the U21 criteria and still hammered Fulham. But safe to assume that Fulham also had their best U21 players away on international duty too.

To be honest most of the decent u21 players at Fulham will have already been farmed out on loan.

In the future, we'll all look back with pride on that special evening we beat the Fulham FC schoolboys 6-1 in the Jersey Mike's Trophy and our manager asked for a hug on the sidelines.
