Ric Flair Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 I reported it was Shaun Newton last week, I hope this does fall through.
Babylon Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 I reported it was Shaun Newton last week, I hope this does fall through. Barber on the phone in said the player DID play for his club and played very well and that Kelly said "if he was the manager of the other club he wouldn't let him go now". My money is on Jerome Thomas being the man.

Geo V Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 Some of the rumours are hilarious! Jerome Thomas is the interesting one. He has spent half the season injured and when he has been fit he usually plays. However, he was rumoured to be on the way out in January http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...d=33&cpid=8 but didnt leave. I doubt how they could release him at such a vital time though. I`d give that a 1/10 chance. Alan Smith. He is quite happy is rotting away in the Man Utd reserves. He was offered the chance to go back to the club he says is in his blood (Leeds) but instead he is happy in patting his team mates on the back when they win and then goes on his way. He was also happy to let a loan player come in for a few months and put him down the pecking order. Fergie has told him to go on loan but he hasnt until recently coming out to praise Smith for not going! http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...n+praises+Smith . I`d give that a 0/10 chance Shaun Newton. Hasnt featured much this season, they have miles better wide players than him in the squad although a couple of them picked up injuries. He is a disgraced footballer due to his addiction. I`d give that a 13/10 chance he signs!!!

mancunianfox Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 Considering that Cadamarteri is already here, if Newton does come in our transfer policy will be something along the lines of 'If you've put alot of cocaine up your nostrils, join our club'. Is Rob Kelly starting some kind of rehab clinic???

My money is on Jerome Thomas being the man. Totally agree, it has also been mentioned that the player concerned scored at the weekend this putting Mr Thomas at the top of the list. Also with him scoring twice at the wekend this also relates to the comment from Rob Kelly in that he said "if i was his manager i wouldn't let him go now"

Is Rob Kelly starting some kind of rehab clinic??? Keep in mind that Martin O'Neill also brought in players with a few issues that blossomed here and reached new heights. (The players, not their drug problems!! ) Maybe we should just sign an entire team of drunkyards?

I would be extremely wary of what I post if I were you. Hope you've got plenty of money for a lawyer.

Warning appreciated, however I cannot see how that comment was any worse than x amount of comments posted by users on this board in the past with reference to peoples personal lives in the past. I shall resist getting carried away in the future.

Babylon Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 Yeates He can feck off for that price... on a free and i'd consider it.
Manwell Pablo Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 He can feck off for that price... on a free and i'd consider it. Agreed. 1 Mill feck off.
lcfc_forever Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 The player could also have been John Oster - he scored and played well at the weekend for Reading who suffered an injury to their midfield in Bobby Convey. I would be very surprised had Charlton been willing to let Thomas go anyway given they are in a relegation scrap.
Jon the Hat Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 He can feck off for that price... on a free and i'd consider it. He won't cost anything like that money. It's good that he wants to come though.

He has said he is content with his role http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...=108&cpid=8 and has recently signed a new deal on Jan 31st http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...=108&cpid=8
Babylon Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 I think we should save the money and not get anyone, i'd rather the money was spent next season for a play off push!!!
brookfox Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 I think we should save the money and not get anyone, i'd rather the money was spent next season for a play off push!!! Completely agree. Whoever we sign we'll end up mid-table so why bother?! Might as well stick with what we've got, spend a bit more in the summer and push on next year. Only way I'd want a loan in was if it was with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.
Geo V Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 I think we should save the money and not get anyone, i'd rather the money was spent next season for a play off push!!! I wouldnt completely rull out loan signings, especially if its with a view to a permanent move via fee or Bosman. We got Muzzy Izzet that wayand he proved to be alright!
Ric Flair Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 I think we should save the money and not get anyone, i'd rather the money was spent next season for a play off push!!! Depends who it is we go for. If it's a player we are likely to be in with a chance of signing permanently afterwards, then i'm all for it. If for example we got Todorov on loan and he did well and liked it here. Then we are in the driving seat for getting him in the summer when his contract expires at Pompey.
Bryn Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 I think some of the numbers being thrown about are a little wayward due to us having been bought out. For example, the idea of us signing Jarrett and Horsefield for £1.5mil. I think that Mandaric will strike a far harder bargain than that.
