Agreed. He has been excellent. However he will be 35 by the time the next season starts. Blake will be 28.

And Blake certainly doesn’t fill me with confidence! Really poor signing. No way is he a remotely worthy successor to the brilliant Ben Cox.

And?

Cox is the superior player and plays in all formats.

Blake is yet to prove he's at the required standard both with glove and bat.

Is Blake going to be back up for Tattersall? Also, I guess we might use Handscomb as keeper in some games?

It still all comes down to whether we can beat Hampshire. We'd potentially find ourselves up to 7th if we do, pending any points deduction.

I don’t want to be ‘toxic positivity’ but the club is still miles ahead from where it was throughout the whole 2010’s. It was always going to be difficult.

Agreed. But we are not a well off club. From Cox’s perspective, if he gets an offer much better than we can afford, of course he will go. And Blake has time on his side. It’s not great, but it’s inevitable for a clock of our size

Reading the article on Cricinfo, I think Blake sees it as a good chance to be first choice, he's ambitious and seeing his FC career going nowhere while behind Jamie Smith and Foakes

Essex have Warwks up next and Glamorgan have Surrey who will be looking to guarantee survival.

The big problem is the bit in brackets. I think it's nailed on we're getting a deduction.

Last time there was quite a campaign on here to encourage city fans to attend (as we'd played Southampton on the Friday night prior) And it worked. A raucous 3k
