Frustrating to not win from that position, but it's encouraging that we've become competitive in such a short space of time under Nixon. Just need that extra bit of quality to get us over the line in close games- we still seem to allow games to drift away from us, but we're getting better.

This. We could / should have won 4 of our 4 day games, which is so much better than recent years. Shame we couldn’t win today, but I guess Middlesex deserve some credit

They deserve credit but at 149-5 and 197-6 they should not have had a sniff, let's be honest.

The pitch offered us next to nothing today- we worked hard and forced a few openings, but you've got to credit Middlesex for batting sensibly. If they had gifted us one or two of their wickets with loose shots, we would have won.

At least one of the Harris drops should've been taken, that would've seen us home.

Yes, the performance is encouraging but the result is crap.

Sharp chances, but yeah you would expect one to be taken.

There was the bizarre incident where the ball appeared to clip the stumps on its way through without dislodging the bail, too.

Apart from that though, I can't remember too many clear cut opportunities we created other than the wickets.

Tough day, tough result, but we've been so bad for so many years that we've got to take the positives- it was never going to be an overnight fix.

Good job you’re not a coach! , nearly 200 ahead on the first innings and lose, that is just a pathetic excuse.
