Zingari Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 Sods Law:We sell Matty. We play who we sell Matty to. Matty sticks four past us. Matty gets Personality of the year. And wins every major trophy he can. Matty gets sold for £20m to Real Madrid Or is that murphy's Law? neither; its either sods tort or murphy's tort
Kent Fox Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 neither; its either sods tort or murphy's tort  Touche!
Koke Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 Isn't Walsall going to get a good amount of that 1.5 million quid. I think we are making a big mistake here. He'll come back, stick 4 past us and bite us in the arse.
Daggers Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 He'll come back, stick 4 past us and bite us in the arse. Only if McDonalds is shut
Geo V Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 Selling your better players is never great business, we made a massive profit when we sold Heskey but afterwards we were much worse off even with £11M in the bank.Personally id rather have Matty Fryatt in our squad than a million or so in the coffers. Im not too sure whether he can be classed as one of our better players to be honest. At the moment I`d put him as 3rd choice striker behind Cort and Hume and on top of that both manager and owner have been vocal to say that we are desperate for another forward which would make Matty 4th choice striker. Whilst I want to keep him, I must admit some of the reasons include that I would be loathe to see someone leave and do well elsewhere without having a proper run with us. He is one of the few that fir that criteria IMO.
SystonFox Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 Wolves have today signed Sunderlands Stephen Elliot for £1.5million so surely they dont want another striker? they've got 3 very good ones at this level in Keogh, Eastwood and Elliot now. i hope we keep Matty. preston can feck off.
Nath Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 Wolves are splashing the cash a bit this year... mainly concentrating on the attacking side... Do they really think their defence is good .... we scored 3 against them altogether last season, they cant be that good!
Brainy Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 we scored 3 against them altogether last season, they cant be that good! Southampton scored double that in one match.
Guest Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 Right I am going to say this only once (no this isnt allo allo) Fryatt. Showed. When. He. First. Joined. City. What. He. Can. Do. He. Was. Injured. Or. Unfit. For. The. Whole. Of. Last. Season. And. I. Dont. Think. We. Should. Sell. Him. Whatever. Read it, digest it, consider it and then stop moaning that he was unfit/overweight last season when the boy had been injured the whole time. Give him a chance and I;m sure he'll redeem himself - I firmly believe up front with Cort and with a decent supply line he'll bang in 20+ this season

Maybe wolves are doing the opposite to us, MM wanted to build from the back - they want to build from the front!!
Zingari Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 if you score enough defence dont matter. does this apply to STDs as well
Master Fox Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 This post is directed to all the Matty Fryatt fans out there that continue to believe he will become the next Ronaldo just because he scored a few tap ins against poor opposition two seasons ago, anyway.... MATTY FRYATT IS SHIT. Levein was a mug. Walsall had our pants down over the original cost to purchase the player, they could see we were in desperation so whacked the price up. Just because we paid over the actual value for Matty The Fatty doesn't necessarily make him a good player. He's weak and gets pushed off the ball far too easily, and I cannot recall him ever scoring from outside the six yard area and his passing his pretty woeful as well. Get rid.
mancunianfox Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 if you score enough defence dont matter. I don't know how serious you were when you wrote that but thats absolute rubbish. Football is as much about stopping the other team from scoring as it is about attacking. Most managers would prefer to win 1-0 or 2-0 than 3-2 or 5-3 even if the fans wouldn't. Manchester United, Chelsea, Juventus, AC Milan, Arsenal...most great teams are built from the back. Real Madrid signed lots of attacking players and won nothing until they signed a couple of good defenders like Cannavaro. Even the Brazilians have spent many of the last few years playing with two defensive minded midfielders.
Master Fox Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 when did tony cottee score outside the 6 yard box? When did TC play for clubs in league 1 and the bottom of championship?

Jimmy Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 says the man that thinks our U18's would win the league at a canter
Thracian Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 when did tony cottee score outside the 6 yard box? Can you compare Asti Spumante to vintage champagne?.
Jimmy Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 no but the point is valid, many people believe if arsenal had 6 yard box striker they would of been far better off they they were last season, having a hume scoring the odd 20+ screamer is all well and good but strikers should score the vast majority of their goals from inside the penalty box
Master Fox Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 You should have waited another season or so to post this - to give him chance to develop his potential. I keep hearing this word potential associated with Fryatt, but I don’t see it. At 21 you’re either good or you’re not, and I’m afraid Matty Fryatt isn’t good enough. I think rejecting Wolves offer of £900,000 was a mistake but we can only hope the Preston rumour is true. Can anyone honestly imagine Matty Fryatt ever playing in premiership? Don’t think so.
Dr The Singh Posted 18 July 2007 Posted 18 July 2007 Can you compare Asti Spumante to vintage champagne?. I dunno Thracian, champagne, whether Vintage or Ali brand taste like apple piss to me!!!
