Ruined your day huh?

I’d have loved about 80% of that.

So, my other half is working up in Manchester at the minute and went back to work yesterday so I decided I’d go up there as well being off for Christmas.

We booked an air b n b about 2 months ago, obviously not much at all available on Boxing Day for 4 nights but we managed to find a house not too far from the airport, takes dogs and had a secure garden and wasn’t insane money although still expensive.

About 2 weeks ago I started to have a proper look at the property and found it was weird when I looked on street view at the address that the picture was different. I messaged him he said that the picture taken was out of the front door rather than of the house, ****ing weird but I didn’t have many options here so I reported it to air b n b but decided I would go with it.

Arrived yesterday and it looked alright but when I went upstairs the bed was a mess, dirty towels hanging around and there was a mouldy cup in the sink. I messaged the guy who asked what time he could send a cleaner round. Over the course of a day the time went from 4 to 4.30, to 7.30, to 6.30 and he demanded we left the house while he cleaned it.

Now in this time I was at the football, I returned parked up and saw a woman standing in the living room talking to my other half. I walked in and the first thing she said was “What are you playing at?”. I was already livid with this **** and obviously that went down well until it was explained that I was staying there. Im then told that she is the mum of the person that actually owns the flat and the guy we have rented it off on Air B n B is a rental tenant himself.

The Air b n b guy himself then turns up and walks in, smiles at me and then gives me a casual “alright”. Now, it’s fair to say I wasn’t so friendly lol. He is now getting a roasting from the owners mum in the living room while I’m trying to figure out where the **** I’m going to sleep.

He submits a refund which is about £70 short of what we have actually paid and he didn’t understand why I wouldn’t trust him to send the rest when he gets refunded. I’ve demanded he transfers the rest from his bank account which eventually he does without me having to headbutt him and we pack up and leave.

Slept last night in a converted garage next to Salford’s ground and have nowhere to sleep for the next few days 😂.

After the rest mist had cleared I haven’t been able to stop laughing. Turns out this guy has set up a very professional website with pictures of all of the properties he ‘manages’ including this one. Needless to say he clearly owns non of them the greasy twat and I’m figuring out just how I can make it all unravel for him.

PM if you need a place to stay, happy to pass on his details

I've had a pretty good week actually.

Not been on here much was dreading the reaction to the Man City match, which I went to.

For the record, I quite enjoyed it! Sort of. The first half an hour was diabolical. Seriously considered leaving at half time. Genuinely thought we were going to get something when our third went in.

Then just spent the last few days watching sport on TV, drinking far too much and having a cheeseboard for dinner every night lol I knew I'd bought too much for Xmas day.

Start my new job next week, as my work attite is far more relaxed than the old place, I've taken full advantage of the sales and bought some new shirts, ties and shoes.

Drove over to Milton Keynes to get most things. I did try Rushden Lakes, but basically got there, drove around the car park and drove back home again, no spaces at all.

Was going to get tickets for the Norwich match, glad I didn't.

So just more footy on the TV in the next few days, then back to the real world and my new job.

Still haven't found out if my company car will be a Fiat 500, which I suspect it will be lol

Went for a 39 (to be exact) minute fast walk and jog. Figured if one of my new year goals is to lose weight then I might as well get out there and start somewhere. Feel fantastic and not drained  at all which is a positive.

Bring on 2022!

I hope it's not the 2012 model. Might as well have taken it to the tip and dumped it in the fvcking metal waste skip. I could have lifted it in by myself.

I've still got my fingers crossed for an Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio.

I suppose I'll have to be able to pronounce it first lol

I've just found out from a patients point of view some of the stresses the NHS is under.

Yesterday evening I was watching TV when I noticed that I had a spot in the centre of my vision where I couldn't focus (a bit like a burn when you look at a bright light).  This grew over the next few minutes, I could see through the ever-increasing area but the image was dimmer.  Then it grew further and became bright around the edge, it was like if you set fire to a sheet of paper in the centre and then watched it burn to the edge.  Within 20 minutes it had reached the edge of my vision and I could still see with both eyes, but one image was a little dimmer than the other.  I was shaken and decided to call 111.

It took 45 minutes for my call to be answered.  I'd tried the online 111 service but after answering all the questions it directed me to phone.  The call respondent asked me a load of questions then said he'd get a doctor to call me back and asked how long it would take me to get to a hospital.  I did get a call from a doctor - five and a half hours later.  He told me to go to A&E asap.

I went to A&E which fortunately was not full at 2:30 am and was triaged immediately and received medical help within the hour.  It turned out that I'd had a vitreous detachment (the jelly in front of the retina).  It is apparently fairly common in old people, only happens once as it could not be reattached, but was unlikely to cause me any long term issues.

So I was left with the impression that the NHS were doing everything they could, but the sheer burden on the system was far greater than anything I'd anticipated.  From a personal viewpoint the delays weren't significant but if I'd had something more serious they could have been.

Managed to absolutely ruin any chance of having a normal sleeping pattern over Christmas, ended up finally falling asleep about 3am and had to be up at 6am to be in work early for covid testing lol

Coffee and Red Bull keeping me awake until 4pm whilst I “reply” to emails and “work” on excel

A good review with a pay rise and confirmation of my bonus this morning has certainly helped keep me awake though!

How did it go?

Mine was all good, apart from the company car. Not as bad as the Fiat 500 that I feared, but a Fiat Tipo Estate isn't much better lol

You did!

I was offered a Jeep Renegade plug in hybrid, but the fuel consumption on that will be ridiculous. As soon as the electric engine cuts out, it would turn in to a real gas guzzler.

Better start selling some cars so I can ask for an Alfa!
