I would imagine your Mum has ideas about you having kids one day.  That is quite hard once you are in your 40s.

Don't bring it up as a topic and let them raise it first if they have to? the problem lies with them not you

On a plusnote, your Mum may find she likes going shopping with her in Dorothy Perkins or Evans.

My wife supports her friend in Jamaica who does youth ministry.

She sent her newsletter, it focused on "deaf ministry", i.e. sign language.

The newsletter was in the form of a PPT, and the final version was titled "with song".

I laughed a lot.

For the last 24 hours we've been living in a cloud of dust and sand blown in from the Sahara. Madrid has actually been the most air polluted city in the world today, I never would have thought that possible previously.

It's a bit eerie, everything looks like we're under a street lamp!

4 gypsies tried to burgle our house this morning. Wonderful.

Knocked on the door and tried a distraction technique involving a small child. How low can you get?

Step-daughter, who is a Police Special Constable and very switched on answered to them.

No harm done thankfully and passed some great CCTV to the police of the bastards loitering around the house and trying to get in to our back garden.

I've had a number of unpleasant encounters with the "travelling community" in the course of my career and whilst some are reasonable, so many are unpleasant towards what they see as the "establishment", that includes anyone acting in an official capacity.

I've made a number of posts on FT regarding my personal experiences only to get shot at by a VERY liberal member, basically accusing me of racism.

I think he blocked me in the end. I used photographic evidence on several occasions to back up my personal views and he didn't like it.

Dog faeces and red fence paint smeared over my response car.

Judge me if you wish. I don't care. I know what I experienced on several occasions and it wasn't nice.

As result of this, I was unavailable to respond to emergency calls for the rest of the shift as the car was taken off the road.

Just ignore the comments Para ..   I've got more stories about them than you could shake a stick at.  Living in the country they are the bane of peoples lives ..  continually nicking stuff ..  moving onto property and leaving a disgusting mess when they are finally moved on ...   threatening people ...  shops closing when word gets around they are in town ..  hare coursing (and if you go near them they turn very nasty) ..  duping old people out of money by saying they can tarmac a drive or fix a roof ..   etc etc etc ...

Love to see one that actually worked for a living.

Changed my Sky direct debit date, something went wrong, it didn't come out and I had to call them.

A man with a very strong Indian accent took care of my enquiry, he asked me to set a password so I don't have to go through security questions everytime, so I chose Leicester.

He replied "oh sir, are you a Lie Chester City supporter? Jamie Vardy is very good" lol

Amazing. I've also just told you all my Sky password. Damn it, if you're dedicated enough to search, I've told you all it's my birthday before and I might have even posted my mother's maiden name.

The club released a range of clothing called City 1884 or something similar once, I posted "that's my password lol", scurried to change it after.

Just wondering how is this "relationship" is going now?

Went to my local surgery today to get a dressing changed, following a minor operation last week. That was the easy bit. The difficult bit was dealing with woman on reception. I'm sure she must have been a Nazi prison guard in a previous life. Entering reception with my clearly visible 'prop', I thought she might be slightly less awful than the last time I dared to go in there. But no. Why do some surgeries feel the need to employ such scary people, especially when some patients may have major anxiety issues?

She's more than likely just unhappy with the job, and probably reacted the same to other patients.

Sorry Wymesy, that's no excuse. Many people are unhappy in their job but you have act professional when facing the public or clients.

Anyway Dr's receptionists are notoriously little Hitlers, they can't all be unhappy in their job. In fact my mums friend used to be one for many years and I think she actually enjoys being a pain in the arse to patients, she loved the power.
