filbertway Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Where are all the people saying Hume isnt good enough... hes dragging us through thisHume He's still not that good, the free kick was about all he did, apart from his 20 second show boat session. Not that he can have the chance to do much with all the crap in the side.

Hume is all graft, and some magic moments which is why we all watch football, name 1 other in our side who we can say that about! The Hume bashing should stop!
Daggers Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 We're working very very hard, behind the scenes, to have a very terrific face coming in new window Not quite sure what that means but I am sure 'Call Me Ollie' is earnest.
filbertway Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 4 goals in 5 games? anyone? (i think) Yeh I think it is and fair play. It doesn't mean he's that good though.
Hullfox Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Are you serious? They were two very VERY ordinary sides and we didn't create more than 3 chances. We defend soundly enough, but we rely much too heavily on Fryatt or John making good runs to get openings. Apart from a single cross from Mattock we were harmless from the flanks, and it says a lot that Chambers was the most potent supply source from midfield...I can't see this team playing any better than we did today... Yes but that very ordinary side we played is in the top 7. That means that there is every hope of us surviving the drop and climbing to mid table obscurity over the next 20+ games.
WetFlannel Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Not quite sure what that means but I am sure 'Call Me Ollie' is earnest. its either a good footballer or someone whos rather attractive
Kilworthfox Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Not quite sure what that means but I am sure 'Call Me Ollie' is earnest. maybe its you
WetFlannel Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Collins John have faith, hes done ok so far... and hes only just returned from injury
Daggers Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 maybe its you I do have a terrific face, don't I. A terrifically fat face but a terrific face none the less.
RowlattsFox Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 We are in the bottom 3 but theres no need to panic in my opinion, first half was encouraging, we passed the ball better and looked quite dangerous. We sat back too much in the second half but we limited a good team to one counter-attacking chance. Thier goal came from Wayne Hennesey dropping the ball in his own box, if he had caught it we would have gt our players back in time. We should have been 2-0 up, the first chance was excellent keeping but he should have scored the second one, atleast he was prepared to get on the shoulder of the last man, how often have we had one-on-ones with the keeper this season? The way he took the ball in his stride was excellent, just a shame the finish didnt match. leading up to this game everybody was saying how we are going to get thrashed, surely then people are happy with a point?
Finnegan Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 I'm going to say this once, and only once. Ever. "What DB11 said."
Thracian Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Anyone doubting that Holloway's got the spirit back after Hull was left in no doubt today but the naivity of our people at some times only leaves you shaking your head. Why did we change what was working defensively in the second half. We dominated the first half because we really harassed the Wolves back line. We gave them no time to work the ball comfortably through midfield and up to their wide players. Last half hour we stopped doing that and conceded the first 3/5ths of the field. defenders could pass the ball comfortably along the floor to their midfield players and, with McCarthy introducing more ground-passing attackers we started to get more and more stretched until a goal was inevitable. So lesson one - don't concede any ground but start your defending by pressurising the defenders. Secondly, while it was commendable to try to score again from our free-kick which led to their breakaway goal it is nieve to leave slow defenders at the back. You need your fastest defenders. The goal really came about because we played three slow centre-backs and got exposed on the floor once N'Gotty got stretched. That doesn't mean he had a bad game. He was always going to get exposed in that position. People like Chambers are the ones you need to combat fast breakaways. Once again though we paid the price for not having a fast central defender - this time out of three in total despite N'Gotty having a midfield role. Finally there was the fact that the game should have been sewn up by then. Collins John had two wonderful one on one chances and failed to take either. We really have to learn how to finish games. That second effort in particular didn't look like the work of a super sharp, super confident striker who expected to score. Mind you he did have chances and, after a promising first 20 minutes Fryatt faded like snow in a rainstorm. Overall though a much improved performance and a worthwhile point even if, once again, it was a draw when we really needed a win and would, I'm sure have got one if we had not slipped into sitting back football. When will coaches ever learn?
Corky Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Why the hell did Don Goodman get the vote to commentate tonight? As an ex-Wolves player, his bias was noticeable, and really annoyed me. You could tell the commentators wanted Wolves to win. We played well, didn't give them much time, and the only thing Fulop had to seriously do was pick the ball out of the net. Well done to the linesman for a correct decision. If only John could finish, we might be 18th. Stop bashing Hume as well, his free-kick was quality. He is the only one who is scoring for us at the moment.

We know we need to improve we are 22nd thats why we are all looking to jan to make the improvements. so yes i'm serious
Jonezy Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Saw the game on telly. Hero: Stearman - Fought his heart out, and didn't make any mistakes. Villain: John - Fair play you do not score on the first one, but you should have buried the game with the second one. Comment: Why o why do we hoof the bloody ball, when the opposition gets possession out of it 99 times out of 100!!! Oh I know, because this football team can't string a session of 3+ passes together.... We lack confidence big time, but at least the boys fought for the course. Its going to be a long depressing season innit..... (I'm fed up hoping, it hurts when faced with facts...)
Webbo Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 John did well to get in position today and could of had 3, unfortunately he never looked like scoring. Does that make him good or bad, Im not sure.
James. Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 By all accounts it sounded like a marked improvement. Plaudits to Stearman for an improved performance, Hume for another goal and Holloway for maybe just getting a little bit of desire back. This should give us some confidence going into Wednesday.
Babylon Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 John did well to get in position today and could of had 3, unfortunately he never looked like scoring. Does that make him good or bad, Im not sure. My villain is Fryatt, at least john got into the positions. Fryatt is one lazy git, out of the whole team he very rarely pressed the defenders when they had the ball. He just ran away from them so that john or hume were nearer and they had to close down.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Stearman had a stormer. Fair play to him, I've been critical of him recently as have a lot of people but he really nullified their threat down the left all game. I kept a close eye on his performance this evening after the bashing he's received recently and he won a hell of a lot of tackles tonight.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 BBC report Matt Jarvis's first goal in a Wolves shirt earned the home side a point after they had taken a first-half battering against Leicester. Iain Hume put the Foxes ahead after just four minutes with a stunning free-kick curled into the top corner. Substitute Andy Keogh set up the equaliser when he broke clear on the left and cut the ball back into the path of Jarvis, to slide the ball home. Keogh also netted himself but it was ruled out as Jay Bothroyd was offside. --- Not sure about that. Good performance first half but "a battering"? Oh well. That was a decent performance in the circumstances.
Matt Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Well wouldn't say i'm happy with the draw but at least there was improvement there. We played well, We probably should have won, I was hoping we would (Obviously) but didn't think we'd hold on. A few months ago i'd have agreed with the people that say win your home games, draw your away games, so spose you've kinda gotta practice what your preach. Not unhappy, Not over the moon, More bothered about today's performance which has made me happier.

Bearing in mind how low he must have felt about his own recent performances, he and Ollie have done well to get that showing from him tonight.
