Sparky Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 lets hope he is just as succesful as ex derby players like Phil Gee , Ian Ormondroyd and Jacob Laurson
gasman68 Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 Also signing Barry Hayles from Plymouth according to SSN.
Ozwin Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 Steve Howard? The one all the Championship clubs have been creaming over for weeks?
filbertway Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 Howard blatently nails about 5 pints before a game, this is jsut like the old Leicester Good times ahead I reckon.
Simi Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 Would he be eligible for tomorrow? If the paper work goes through before 5pm tonight yes.
Phube Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 Would he be eligible for tomorrow? I thought you had to sign by 5pm the day before.... And as the Window doesn't open until tomorrow... I doubt it... but I could be wrong...
Sparky Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 Would he be eligible for tomorrow? think Speed is available for Sheff Utd and he dont officially join till Jan 1st so would imagine Howard will be eligible
Webbo Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 If the paper work goes through before 5pm tonight yes. But the window doesn't open until tomorrow, does it?
Ozwin Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 Bloody hell, this is a great signing if true. Coming from one of our rivals too, just makes it even more satisfying. A tall player who can head the ball up front? Jesus, is that even possible for Leicester?
DBEightyFive Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 Unless we take him on loan for 31st December then make move permenant on tomorrow? Sounds really stupid really EDIT - Oops, forgot the loan window was shut too.
Flynny Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 I thought you had to sign by 5pm the day before....And as the Window doesn't open until tomorrow... I doubt it... but I could be wrong... It'd officially be a loan for the first couple of days, I should think he'll be availible. I wouldn't chuck him in like that yet though anyway.
City Fan Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 But the window doesn't open until tomorrow, does it? It would be a very very short term loan, i.e. a day or summat. It says on the Mockery that he can play tomorrow if it completed today.
Sparky Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 soooper super steve soooper super steve soooper super steve SUPER STEVIE HOWARD
Brainy Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 Foxes close in on Derby's Howard Howard scored 19 goals for Derby last season (Getty Images) Leicester City have confirmed they are close to signing striker Steve Howard from East Midlands rivals Derby County. City chairman Milan Mandaric told BBC Radio Leicester they were trying to sign Howard in time for him to make his debut at QPR on New Year's Day. "We need power up front and I think Steve Howard is the top draw on this one. I'm hopeful we can conclude something today," said Mandaric. City have also revived their interest in Plymouth forward Barry Hayles. Howard hit 19 goals as Derby secured promotion last year, but has only scored once in the Premier League this season and missed a penalty as the Rams slipped to defeat against Blackburn on Sunday. But Mandaric is optimistic of bringing Howard back to the Championship. "My desire is to make this happen. We are determined to bring in additional power on the scoring goals side." The Foxes chairman confirmed he was eager to bring in striker Barry Hayles from Plymouth despite manager Ian Holloway earlier suggesting he would not go back to his old club to try and sign their players. "We are looking for strong characters to stabilise the team and see how far they can go," Mandaric said. "Barry would be one of those people who would help them"
Staf Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 I think Steve Howard will be a good singing and will be a good strike partner to Hume but i dont rate Hayles much although you never know he might be alright
MPH Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 It would be a very very short term loan, i.e. a day or summat. It says on the Mockery that he can play tomorrow if it completed today. so might Hayles!!!

kidder_wolf Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 Just to remind you of the rules on signing players before the transfer window. You can sign him today even though the window is closed. In fact you could have signed him 3 weeks ago if you wanted to. There is nothing stopping any club buying a player outside the transfer window. You just cant PLAY him until it opens again.
Kilworthfox Posted 31 December 2007 Posted 31 December 2007 1.5Mil and 3.5 year contract Also a fee involved with Hayles!
