Robbie Savage?

Just seen the interview with MM. He said Savages name has been mentioned, but they have to look at the make up of the team, the togetherness, the spirit and that we'll see.

Seemed to me like he was saying i've mentioned it to Nigel and he has isn't very interested.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS THE OLD BOYS ARE COMING BACK 1 BY 1. MAGIC.

I only wish we were talking about Heskey.

He always wants his so-called big names like JFH, Robbie Fowler and Lee Hendrie. And he always wants some limelight once the party starts though he soon goes quiet when the flak flies. I just wish he'd let the manager get on with his job.

He always seems scared to death we won't have enough experience - as if "experience" has not got us in enough trouble - and I often wonder if he has any faith in the young players at all underneath. If he had he'd surely never let Gradel go to Bournemouth last season for a start.

Don't get the wrong idea. I like big names too. But when they're starting out and have barely been heard of, not when when they're a largely spent force.

He's 33 now, serioius knee injury made it hard to get back in Blackburn's side in his last full season there and he has scored once in his last 92 League matches, way down on his average over his previous 10 years up to 2002.

In case Mandaric needs it spelling out we want people to provide us with goals and creativity in midfield.

If Pearson doesn't want them then that should be the end of it. Mandaric obviously thinks that the Redknapp "experience" way can work for everyone...........which it can't. Unfortunately the "experienced" players we have had recently are just plain unmotivated bad players. Just like some of the younger "inexperienced" players we've had.

I don't know why everyone has got a problem with this, he'd be awesome in league one. He's just the type of nasty player that we're going to come across each week but the difference is he actually has some skill too.

Pearson will be able to handle him, if he doesn't put the effort in Nigel's a big enough boy to tell him off.

Savage and skill are not words to be combined in a sentence.

I never really understood how Savage got to the hights that he did.... i can only ever remeber him running around like a headless chicken, being totally committed and producing absolutely sweet F.A. in the process. At the age of 33 his "headless Chicken" days are behind him, he only seems to be totally committed to Robbie Savage nowadays, which just leaves Sweet F.A.......Thanks, but no thanks

I can only imagine it would be to replace someone on the way out (Clemence). If it's Pearsons decision then i'm ok with it... if he is under any pressure from mad mandy, then I don't want him. Especially if it's anything more than a years contract.

Think that about sums up how id feel as well. If Pearson says yes to it and it was his idea then im all for it but if its Mandaric's doing then balls to it!

We have had no one at the team capable of doing a Savage role since Tiatto went back to Convict Island.

You may not like him - but this player would add meat to the side and gives it his all for 90 minutes. I find the rejection of the idea of him to be be nothing short of laughable.

to true I mean last season we didn't have a single midfielder at all was were ready to put their foot in, get stuck in and have a go at the oppos midfield and make them uncomfortable instead most of the time they just walked on through and dictated the way we played that's what Savage does even at 33

...and this season more than last we need a physical presence in midfield.

No Fookin Way! Never liked him in a City shirt and a proper twat when he played against us in another teams shirt, surely Pearson realises that he is not the decent player that he NEVER was or thought he was ? ;0/ :scarf:

Swap him for Clem.

Talking of Clem, any news on him???

I know he is recovering from his Op but seeing he is club captain, he is never mentioned on the OS or in the Mercury

But what did Tiatto ever do? Seems to me like his presence coincided with our seemingly unending fall from grace. The season before he left I think we failed to win a single game that he started.

He hardly ever scored or made goals even the following season when he played a bit better. Nor did he control midfield. Yet half the time we were on tenterhooks cos he'd collected a card after about 20 minutes and there were serious doubts he'd survive on the pitch.

Jarrett was never "hard" but he was another who could supposedly get stuck in yet had precious little effect. Don't get me wrong. I'd love a Tommy "win-the-ball-and-give-it-to-Dalglish" Smith or a Norman Hunter or Billy Bremner. But they could all pass and times have changed as far as the physical stuff is concerned.

Palace hardly threatened at all with Kingy and Oakley in midfield and I damned sure King doesn't need his career strangled while Savage demonstrates another season of making damn-all happen. Nor Weso. He might not be hard but he's tenacious, stays on the field and is capable of keeping moves going quickly.

Savage's recent record makes no case that he'll benefit our emerging team at all.

And with his recent record of injury I can well imagine the outlay will be wasted anyway. Either because he won't clock up the games or he won't be able to support attacks consistently.

Haven't we had enough with Clemence, Johnson before him and even Hendrie. Midfield in modern football is demanding work. And when top teams discard you, it's a fair bet they've noticed you're spending more time in the treatment room and slipping off the pace.

There would be tears of joy if Savage went to you boys.

I've not heard anything my end but it looks as if Savs days at Derby are well and truely over.

I might just accept Savage coming back IF it's a swap (No money) with Howard. You know you want the lump back...
