Leyton Orient Post Match

My god that was painful listening at times but who cares!!

We sounded poor for the majority of the game, but seemed to come to life a bit when Adams and Campbell came on. Stringer had special praise for Adams who I thought would start today following Gradel's string of poor performances, surely he'll start next Saturday.

The strong finish is a massive positive, shows a bit of 'never say die' attitude and good fitness levels.

Get in there!!!!!!!!! :scarf:

I hear some of our fans got arrested for running onto the pitch after the 2nd goal went in, anyone confirm this?

Radio Leicester reported this.

Apparently, according to RL, but sounded as if it was 1 or 2, not many.

1 or 2, too many perhaps but nothing to bad.

At least something to cheer about and that win was well-needed, although looks like we got lucky scoring two goals in the last three minutes of regular time. The motor still seems to stutter too often and I wonder what it'd take to get it working properly again.

Well done to the lads on and off the pitch - if there really were 2500 Leicester fans down in London today, then you all deserve my uttermost respect! : :appl:

Great smash and grab what was good was we went on to score another and not sit back on a 2 -1 lead. Still need to be cautious and not get carried away teams will see us as a team to perform against and will be up for it. You can see teams trying to bully us out of games and get things scrappy. Still think we need someone in the middle of the park who can control the game.

Only listening on the radio can the regular match goers tell me if Oakley is up to it??

Another good weekend ahead.

I've been at work for virtually the duration of the match today, from listening to the radio did it wound like we deserved it ?

No.

Draw would of been a fair result.

3-1 flattered us massively by the sounds of it.

I think we'll bounce back today although it won't be easy so while my head says 1-1 my heart says 3-1 Leicester.

That's probably my best ever post right there... :D

Got back not long ago. Obviously delighted with the result but f**k me we were poor for large parts of the game.

Started very brightly with Dyer causing problems down the left wing. Good, direct passing, solid in defence with most of the game taking place in the Orient half. Very well taken goal from Dyer but then after that we gradually just stopped playing. It felt like it was more to do with us falling to pieces as opposed to Orient upping their game. They deserved their goal though (or we deserved to concede) and went into half time with the upper hand.

I was expecting a Pearson-inspired rejuvenated team after half time but the second half started exactly the same as the first half finished. We were sloppy in possession, centre midfield went walkabouts, Gradel was ineffective and the defence, at times, looked confused and poorly organised. Thankfully Orient didn't take advantage and we can thank their lack of quality for that. Towards the last 10 minutes you sensed us sneaking back into it and, in my opinion, we can owe much of that to 3 very astute substitutions from Pearson.

Adams brought an energetic spark to what was becoming a lacklustre looking team. He chased everything although was frustrating at times with his apparent unwillingness to take on his man. Hobbs shored up the defence while Campbell looked better than I've seen him for awhile... taking on defenders, asking questions with his pace and generally being a nuisance. I think the space he created was instrumental for the goals we scored.

Scrappy finish from Fryatt and then a very well taken goal from Andy King sealed it but we were far from our best today. Time to dig out the "if we can win when we play like that we'll do well" cliche. Which is fair enough.

Fans were in sync with the quality of football. Started very noisy but quietened when Orient came back into it. Great urging on for the last 10 minutes though and a fantastic atmosphere when the goals went it. Couple of blokes got a bit excited and invaded the pitch when Fryatt scored... one was taken away while I saw the other jump back into the crowd and lose himself amongst the rest of the fans, he looked like he'd done that before! Well done that man.

Stewards where I was were good. Let us get on with it. In fact one came up and asked us if we'd rather sit or stand... Err, we'll stand thanks mate. Ok then. Nice.

Thank f**k I got rid of my duck for the season of only seeing Leicester lose. And I started the match thread... Good day all in all.

disgusted. Apparently the seats werent coordinated and there was no hog roast. The gay wedding has both of them and more besides. Still...three people scored and i havent done that yet today.

nice to see goals for US late in the game...

this is just one step closer to haveing a team that can challenge for promotion, and develop further next season.

dunno what he's done, one could argue that despite the level he has had the toughest task of all the last 6 or so managers, but something has started to work at LCFC, no more shit about bad luck. no more throwing away points...

...heh, they just showed a clip of that cantona goal where he runs in a circle to beat 3 or 4 players, has a run, plays a 1-2, and chips it into the top corner, then stands there, puffing out his chest, and rightly very proud... pure class.

A bit harsh,

I would take a 3-1 away from home any time, in fact I'd take any win!

We might have been lucky to score two at the end but we were unlucky to hit the bar twice so it all balances out.

I think we'll need lots more away performances of this nature to do well in this league.

James is right. I've just got back and we were lucky to win 3-1. A draw would probably been a fair result because we were poor for large parts, and didn't look comfortable at any point after we scored the first goal.

We started well and scored a very good good following good play between Fryatt, Howard and Dyer. After that we sat back, took our foot off the pedal and Orient came back into the game. Our defence was pretty shambolic at times but they weren't helped by Gradel and Dyer, who too often failed to pick up the runners and left Powell and Gilbert 1v1 against their wingers. Oakley was poor and King couldn't control the midfield either, and Orient were always first to the 50-50 balls and the second balls. Gradel was rubbish again apart from 2-3 crosses (including one in the first few minutes which Fryatt should have done better with).

Pearson finally made the subs that we badly needed (Orient were playing a dangerously high line and it was obvious that we needed DJ on to run the channels, and Gradel was ineffective again and needed to be subbed). Adams made a big difference when he came on (he actually supported our strikers, unlike our other midfielders) and DJ did a good job in stretching their defence. Fryatt's finishing was poor - he should have scored in the first few minutes and then he should have buried his first chance when he was clean through - but luckily he got the rebound and somehow tucked it in.

Overall, it was a great victory but not a very good performance. We got away with it and on another day we could easily have lost on that performance.

And Martin was awful in goal again - I really think he's a liability. His kicking was poor, he handled the ball outside the box and he doesn't inspire any confidence.

Great win :chant:

But it sounded like we were poor for at least 60 minutes of the match and only deserved a draw.

but i'll take a 3-1 away win anyday of the week.

Why would a draw have been fair seeing we put the ball in the net three times away from home and hit the bar twice?

Because they were on top for most of the game. A draw WOULD have been a fair result. Put it like this, if the game had ended a draw many fans, me included, would be thankful we didn't lose. We really weren't very good. We should be absolutely delighted (and a tad relieved) to have come away with 3 goals and 3 points.

After about an hour I thought we were going to get beaten. I was delighted to make it to h/t level, and would have taken a draw at the end.
