Bert Posted 1 September 2009 Posted 1 September 2009 You must be taking this forum far too seriously then. And id say your post there is pretty idiotic, and some others in this thread, but certainly none of mine You can say what you want, no-one is going to deny you that. Whether people choose to take notice of it, and consider it as valid, is a totally different thing. I can certainly say that I don't take this forum far too seriously. I enjoy coming on here for a good read, a decent bit of banter and a good football debate with the more respected posters, and then there's you.
Collymore Posted 1 September 2009 Posted 1 September 2009 Horrible thread, too much going on, why don't we have individual threads for sky games
lou Posted 1 September 2009 Posted 1 September 2009 Bloody pissed off, another day off work I'll have to take. Very very annoying but I'll still be there thankfully.
Guest Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 Go round friends/relatives and watch it, go pub.I'm not arguing with anyone, it's everyone arguing with me. I'm not trying to argue with anyone. I'm just saying thats all. You are arguing. Sorry to point that out. As for going somewhere else, you cannot equate watching a televised game with actually being at the game itself. I don't want to watch the game on tv, I want to be there. I am not going to get the same enjoyment from sitting at my dad's or at the local as I would with my friends in the stadium. It is not the same thing. Your 'thousands', who are apparently jumping for joy at being able to watch the game now, what do you think that they were going to do had the game not moved? This is the thing that really pisses me off. Many of them probably wouldn't be arsed to listen to Radio Leicester, let alone go to the game. I would be surprised if any pubs in town make much more money than any other Monday night, and I would even go as far to say that viewing figures for Reading v Leicester aren't going to be anything to write home about. Seriously though, I hope football does kill itself. Palm the Sky generation off onto the shoulders of cricket or rugby. That'd be a laugh. Not cricket. Sky have already ruined that. Other than that, I agree with you. As said before, if football must take their dosh, then announce the bloody fixtures once at the start. Not bugger about the real fans with a few weeks notice. As for this sh*te argument that some more fans can see the games, then take it to the extreme and play all the sodding games on Monday night. Sky have all this season's fixtures available to them, but you can bet that the end of season clashes won't be sorted until end of March at the earliest. If televising football was really about 'giving it to the fans' then they would give all clubs equal coverage, and they wouldn't need to wait to decide which games to show later on in the season. I used to be against something like a European Super League, but now I wish that there would be one, the Big Four can then fork off, Sky can show those games to the plastics, and leave domestic club football alone.
Jimmy Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 Sky are never going to announce all the games at the start, because from around March they tend to feature teams going for promotion and relegation scraps, last thing they'd want is to end up with 2 teams competing for 12th

C-man Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 It is indeed. Oh well. Brb opening vein. I'm still coming down. What's open on a Tuesday night?
Floating Fox Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 Sky are never going to announce all the games at the start, because from around March they tend to feature teams going for promotion and relegation scraps, last thing they'd want is to end up with 2 teams competing for 12th In germany they announced who plays in the Televised matches on the friday night and sunday afternoon 3 months before and they are never messed around with. Thats the best way if you ask me...
RGFox Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse you now have to spend a night in Reading for absolutely no reason. hey hey... it's not that bad down here! Recommend the Zero Degrees in town for a few beers. The date change has scuppered my plans for the RFC match. As it's only 2 miles from my place, I think I may get a ticket in the home end, as they're offering a free ticket for the Ipswich match! Seems that City generally tend to lose on Sky, and coverage is so biased it's unreal...
Daggers Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 :But they will probabley talk about reading the whole game knowing sky. Good. Adult literacy is a very important mater.
Flynny Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 I'm still coming down. What's open on a Tuesday night? Plenty, not a huge night but there'll be a few places open, decent excuse to find somewhere I've not been.
Shrenchel Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 The Croft has been knocking out a few sick little dubstep nights on tuesdays recently.
James. Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 The Croft has been knocking out a few sick little dubstep nights on tuesdays recently. In Bristol do you ever go to a pub called The Farm or a night called Mongrel?
Basingstoke Fox Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 I think they've picked the three most annoying games to show for me Weekend in Newcastle ruined, all day Saturday session at the nearest game to me (QPR) ruined, nostalgic night out with some friends I know from my time living in Reading ruined! Bah humbug! This. Look at people like IOW Fox, who said earlier in the thread that this would be the closest game to him this season. He now might not be able to take his son because it's too late to get back to the island. If these far flung Foxiles can't get to games so often, then playing away games near their town can be a godsend. I know that as someone who spends more time down south than I do at home, and I'm sure if you moved away from Leicester/Leicestershire (I'm assuming that's where you live) then you'd probably feel the same.If these "thousands of ST holders" were desperate to watch the game, they'd be going, not sitting around twiddling their thumbs waiting for the off chance that Murdoch Industries get their way three or four times every season. Watching football on TV doesn't compare to watching it live, just because you can see it on a screen doesn't mean the experience is as good as watching it in the ground. It bloody well should be about the thousand or so fans who go to every away game because they're the ones who bother to support their team up and down the land, rain or shine, win or lose, top flight or JP Trophy. They're the ones whose needs should be looked after, not fair weather ****** like yourself or Sky subscribers who demand to be able to watch football all day every day even though they can't be arsed to to get of their settee and go to games. Your piss poor argument epitomises the views of idiots who get taken in by Sky propaganda with their ridiculous assertions that "they care about fans". It's one of the many reasons why modern football hacks me off so much, and yet I'm too young to have known football any other way! This, This, This, This, This and This a million times. I hope that we still get a good number of fans following us down to Reading becuase it would be nice to be able to go to a game that I can enjoy, I was going to bring a few mates and show them what a good atmosphere really is (not sitting on your arse watching Chelsea v Tottenham or something). Sky always seem to try their utmost to fook things up for me and I hate them. We aren't even going to get any money from the games that they have ruined for me aswell. It is a fooking joke!
Shrenchel Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 In Bristol do you ever go to a pub called The Farm or a night called Mongrel? Go to The Farm about once a year probably. Went to Mongrel a couple of times when it started out but haven't been for a good 2 or 3 years, there was a bit too much breakcore for my tastes. They might be doing summin different these days though, dunno, think they moved to Black Swan which is a crackin venue although on the wrong night it can just turn into a bunch of crusties doing wobble in a garden.
Tilley Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 Good. Was never going to travel down to the shitty Madejski anyway so this means I can watch it.

I went in Zero Dregrees (around the corner from the turtle) not a bad boozer but wasn't too fussed with their microbrewery beer. I did however enjoy the pub just up the road on the corner Saraha I think it's called.
Fosse Boy Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 Good. Was never going to travel down to the shitty Madejski anyway so this means I can watch it. Bully for you. Anyone know how late trains run between Reading and London?
Basingstoke Fox Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 Bully for you.Anyone know how late trains run between Reading and London? Pretty late it seems! http://www.transportdirect.info/Web2/Journ...px?cacheparam=5 I hope this persuades alot of people to still come to this game!

Ah ok, I know the guys that run Mongrel and the couple who own The Farm are friends of friends. Can be pretty close knit in Bristol I've found so thought you might know them as well... Heard lots about the Black Swan, will get down there at some point I'm sure. EDIT: oh and trains from Reading to London run til late.
MC Prussian Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 As long as they don't come up with fixtures changes for the Blackpool, Peterborough or Watford game for which I'm going to be over, I'm all good.
Matt Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 As long as they don't come up with fixtures changes for the Blackpool, Peterborough or Watford game for which I'm going to be over, I'm all good. Didn't Barry Fatty Fry move this last year as we are hooligans? (Infact, Yes he did, I don't know why i'm asking it as a question, I went) It was still the same day but moved forward to 12pm. Might be the same this year?

I vaguely know the girl from the farm if she's the bird that used to work behind the bar a few years back, although from some of the tales I got told about her it didn't seen like she had a boyfriend.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 2 September 2009 Posted 2 September 2009 Didn't Barry Fatty Fry move this last year as we are hooligans? (Infact, Yes he did, I don't know why i'm asking it as a question, I went)It was still the same day but moved forward to 12pm. Might be the same this year? That fat twat Fry didnt actually move it, but he told the Cambridgeshire police (one of the most dsiorganised in the country) it was one of the games that might bet better if it was moved, so basically it was moved on advice of the police! I very mch doubt it will be moved again this year. I recall lasty year it being moved before the season had started, which obviously hasnt been the case this time round either. Also if it did happen, there would have to be other games moved too, like Derby, Forest, Newcastle, Boro, etc, and thats not gonna happen. Its typical Peterborough really, try and be a big club and it ends up a balls up.
