Not very enjoyable, tbh I don't mind if we are scrappy and win 1-0, A win is a win and as long as we win i'm happy, but there is scrappy, and there is how we played tonight, and tonight was worrying, we always looked vulnerable to concede - Thank-fuk the Reading strikers are shite is all I can say.

However I said I wanted 4 points from theses 2 matches, Looking for a draw at QPR (In all honesty I think we will lose) anything more is a huge bonus. I said tonight was must win because as I said I think we might lose on Friday, and we've won. On paper, and stats happy, on tonight's performance worried.

All I keep telling myself though is how many times have we been in Reading's shoes and had what we done tonight done against us, That's quite a nice change I must say.

I seriously worry for anyone as a football fan who can defend McGivern's performance tonight. Jesus wept.

Why? He got caught out a couple of times but definitely doesn't deserve the stick he's getting.

Horrible game. Credit to the 900 or so that made their way to Reading this evening, top support.

We didn't deserve a point, nevermind three.

That said, i'd have certainly taken it beforehand.

Joint top on friday? Yes please.

Fuck me.

Thracian is STILL typing.

Start preparing for word-war Anish.

I always find turning the television on and facing it helps.

Why? We missed a few chances too. Fryatt had 2 0ne on ones for a start, Oakley near the end. A draw would have been a fair result imo.

From what I could hear, they certainly supported the team vocally.

Reading's home support is dreadful, worse than ours.

Yeah we weren't scrappy, we were shit. I think this is a really bad division, any team that gets their act together is going to go on a 5/6 game winning streak and put some distance between themselves and the pack.

You know what they say, It take's a good team to win when their playing awfully.

Great 3 points, Really shabby game, bit scrappy at times. But well played lads.

Pearson must have been listening in to start Waghorn

I must say every time in the last few minutes it came down the right i was nervous of that Kebe guy ripping him, and he did a few times.

He's been typing so long he's fallen off the list! We should all arm ourselves with these, I think. :surrender:

As said already, generally pretty poor but a win is a win and all that.

McGiven got ripped to be pieces most of the night. The centre backs were over exposed at times too, particularly in the first half - mainly down to the midfield giving it away too often. Oakley needs to do better really and command the midfield more.

Still, Fryatt had two clear chances, plus Howard at the end so it didn't have to be so stressful.

The sign of a good team is one that wins these types of games, hence Reading are stuck in the relegation zone and we are into the play-off positions - if nothing else then it's a positive sign that we are able to grind out a win.

two league wins in a row. Something we didn't manage in the whole of that relegation season. And this time last year we were throwing away a two goal lead at Brighton.

Yes we rode our luck in the first half, but in the second half I would suggest we were comfortable, and probably had the better chances.

Away fans were superb, home fans were dreadful. Made the Ricoh sound like Anfield on a European night. (Then again, how loud would we be after 9 months without a home win?)

We were very poor tonight in my opinion. Disorganised at the back and poor up front in the main, Waghorn's goal was definitely the exception and against the run of play. Reading are being beaten for two reasons. They are toothless up front, short of confidence and too easily bossed in midfield. A better and more confident team would have put two or three past us tonight without question. Sorry to sound negative after we've pulled ourself up to fifth, but it's true.

Having said that, the mark of a good team is winning while playing badly. This is especially true away from home. We've achieved that with this result and the table doesn't lie. I'm talking to YOU Ryan Bertrand.

I'm now off to get a bit more drunk. Thank you and good night.

Really chuffed with the win - not watched us for a good month and was impressed.

Weale - Solid and reliable. McGivern spent as much time in the CB/LM positions as he did at LB, and that didn't help with all their play coming down that side. He was mostly poor but under a lot of pressure and did some things very well. Wellens is class, as is Oakley until he gets into the final 3rd. Neilson impressed me for a change. Front two worked hard, Fryatt should've scored.

Wasn't happy with the subs but they payed off and the starting strikers should be fresh for QPR!! Well done lads, good display even if we rode our luck a couple of times.

This feels better than the ordinary victory, simply because were normally on the end of these 0-1 results.

We've got the belief this season, no more rolling over and dying like in the Rob Kelly days.

Can't believe I missed the shitty city comment, anyone feel like uploading it? DavieG cough...

Good well fought win and for once we got lucky! Howard came on and did well but I was unsure why Waghorn came off though.

Weale was terrific and that is only one goal let in in 5 games now!

A couple? He spent the game about 10 metres too far forward so they got behind him time and time again!!

We need some bloody pace for gods sake. Great result but disappointing performance again.

For once I called this one correctly as a resilient 1-0 and while we flirted with defeat early on I thought the commentator talked absolute bullshit when he referred to Reading having the best chances.

We had the three best chances from my seat and scored with a fourth half chance through conjurer Waghorn.

The "verbiage" seemed to forget that Fryatt had two near perfect one-on one chances when completely through against their goalkeeper. And while "sticks" deserved credit for staying big and blocking Fryatt's shots our supposedly rampant striker should simply have chipped the ball home on both occasions.

The third chance fell to Howard who only needed to keep the ball on target to open his account for the season after Wellens put him through. I can't imagine he will have many better chances this season.

Reading only got through 1-on-1 once when Weale made a brilliant block from Rasiak but the lad was offside.

Otherwise they went close with various snap shots including one that hit the post and ended with McGivern fortuitously deflecting the rebound wide as it headed for the corner - a fact that the referee saw as a goalkick which gave early indication that it might be our night! :D

Second half we defended like blotting paper. They looked increasingly knackered and frustrated while we absorbed everything they offered - which was not a lot as time went on - and then finished stronger what with Howard's chance and DJ constantly threatening to breach their back line.

Once again I'd go for Weale as our Man of the Match. He didn't have much to do in terms of spectacular saves - just one shot he must have seen late but nevertheless turned turned wide of a post and that block previously mentioned which he didn't know was offside. But, again, his handling was so confident he didn't convey the sniff of a weakness before helping us to another clean sheet - our fourth in five games.

Brown was another to deserve praise. He wasn't flawless by any means but time and again he got in vital headed clearances, blocks and generaly showed willing to put his body on the line when it was called for.

On the minus side McGivern was skinned far too often for comfort at left-back and the resulting crosses - particularly the low ones caused momentary pandemonium in our box on two or three occasions but fortunately there were increasing signs that even Reading - winless at home for 9 months - didn't believe they would ever score.

Today was a tactical triumph for Pearson. Yes we could have blown it before half-time but the more time went on the more it was City that looked in control of everything apart from the percentage of possession.

As others have said, if we can play such doggedly ordinary football and win away, there's got to be some hope for us staying in contention for a play-off place.
