Ricey Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 I think our early season form flattered us, I don't think we are a top 6 side in terms of quality and it's showing currently. If we want any chance of going up we need to be competing with sides like Barnsley and Swansea. I sense a few panic signings in the next week. I'd certainly take a risk on a striker.
Tilley Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 Pearson is now paying for mediocre signings. Morrison isn't a right back but Pearson knows Neilson isn't good enough so he is forced to play a centre back at right back. The same can be said for the left back position. We shouldn't be relying on a 40 year old to be playing! It obviously isn't Pearson's fault that Berner is injured but we should have adequate cover and it is quite clear that McGivern is shit, so once again Pearson is paying for another crap signing. Gallagher is playing right wing when I'm certain he is a striker?! We have Dyer on the bench, Adams out on loan and have just let Gradel go. Why can't we play players in their natural positions?! I can guarantee if Gallagher cost £200k, he wouldn't be accomodated wherever Pearson can stick him in. Poor signing and poor management. As for up front. Howard hasn't got the legs to play every game, Fryatt is ill and we haven't got the cover when these two are out. Kermo has barely set the world alight has he?! Another poor signing! Waghorn seems to be falling out of form at completely the wrong time and if this is the case then PLAY GALLAGHER UP FRONT! Shit result tonight in a very winnable game. Where is this money we were promised Mandy?! Pearson needs to dip into the transfer market and he needs to have a look at his team selections. Poor, very poor.
samjohnson Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 One that we should have won... We need more consistancy. But id love to take this oppertunity to applaud the amazingly good referees we are getting. Absolutley fantastic. Id love to know where they qualified...
Ozwin Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 Disappointing but that's football, some you win some you lose. I think a few people have been spoilt a bit by our early good form, and are now throwing the toys out of the pram like big babies. For once I agree with this guy. We should be happy we're 8th considering we got promoted last season.
iancognito Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 We need a serious injection of quality to get anywhere this season. 3 defeats on the spin now and lets be honest a distrastrous December before that is completely destroying the start we had to the campaign. It's time for Pearson to show what he's made of and turn this around because however much we all appreciate where he's dragged us up from - and I appreciate it more than most, there comes a point where every manager has to face the music when the team is performing badly (as we have for 6 weeks now). You can bet that the Sack-happy buffoon at the top will have agents touting their available managers to him as well if this carries on.
Tony Pine Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 barnsleys previous 3 results were losses to, sheff wed, s****horpe and cov and we couldn't beat them
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 Also.. due to law of averages, we were gonna lose at Barnsley one time as we always beat them.
lcfc_sam_p Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 agree with people who have said we should play 2 wingers. i dont understand why we buy a striker to play him on the wing..why not buy a winger? need to sign a few players but doubt we will. still cant complain about our season so far though. bring on newcastle!!
dimmerchant Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 Mid-table mediocrity, exactly what we are. Deal with it.
matty2702 Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 I lost count of the times i heard "oakley has given it away" tonight! we really need to add some creativity to the midfield as it appears we are running low on ideas. it sounded like chris powell had a decent game, and no disrespect to him at all but if we are having to draft in 40+ coaches is a little desperate. I really don't believe pearson could name his first choice 11 at this moment in time! But hey we're still top half and there's another game on saturday, lets not give up on the boys just yet!
easilee Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 The age of Nobby begins Saturday. Nothin to worry about yet folks. unless you're a newbie dickhead who needs to meet a girl.
Corky Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 I think we probably played above our true qualities earlier in the season, raising expectations, and now we've hit a tricky patch. Still lots to be positive about, we're in a comfortable league position and a win on Saturday will boost confidence.
kimbell Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 Forest have backed there manager this season, MM needs to do the same with Pearson. Where's the money Milan.
iancognito Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 Where is this money we were promised Mandy?! Pearson needs to dip into the transfer market and he needs to have a look at his team selections. Poor, very poor. We were third, picking up a decent run of points and everyone had the words ringing in their ears that Mandaric would back the club if we were in a good position for a push. Hot air.
tewkesbury-fox Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 3 Straight defeats.. not scoring is our main problem despite having a wealth of forwards whats going on ????Stubborn team selections ?,square pegs in round holes, gypsy curse........
filbertway Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 Christ, did people think we were genuine play off contenders? I thought people would realise we were playing above ourselves and although a blip wasn't a certainty, it's hardly a shock...
Matt Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 Before I start realise this is a gut reaction, perhaps a knee jerk reaction, and I'm also abit pissed. I did hear any of the game because I was out, but heard the last few minutes, know the result, all I can say based on those two factors is disappointed!! Pissed off! Pre-season I said i'd be happy with mid-table, in reality having seen what has happened so far this season my aims and expectations have been 'subconsciously' heightened, and i'd be disappointed to finish mid-table I suppose in a way I should be proud how high my expectations and aims are, and it shows how far we have come in a year, but I think in all honesty my original pre-season aim's and expectation's are what will happen now. To be honest a blessing in disguise because even thought I want us to finish in the play-offs and ultimately win them but we wouldn't last 5 minutes in the Premiership, it'd be a few seasons to early, we'd 'do a Derby', and it'd do more damage than good for us. We needed to win tonight because I don't expect to get anything on Saturday unfortunately, after tonight game, I fear even more. I think I need alot of beer before Saturdays game.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 There must be a reason why Gallagher is always playing on the wing. He isnt a winger and cannot cross a ball. He was signed as a striker and this is how we play him. Complete waste of money. Kermo is suddenly starting constantly. He hasnt scored and I can remeber the last time he actually had a good game. Another poor signing. The awesome defence we had in October/November now seems like an eternity ago. Oakley hasnt had a good game all season and cant pass a ball. Wellens hasnt had a good run of games since early October, and is supposed to be this 'playmaker' we were looking for in the summer but most of the time all he does is just hit it anywhere. Pearson needs to sort this out and we are now looking very weak, and we could soon be sliding down the table if we cant change things.
Lisburn Fox Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 A cold Tuesday night away at Barnsley, move on, bad day at the office, we need to get our confidence back, ideal opportunity on Saturday evening cliche time. WE WILL WIN ON SATURDAY I am positive.
Craig Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 A cold Tuesday night away at Barnsley, move on, bad day at the office, we need to get our confidence back, ideal opportunity on Saturday evening cliche time. WE WILL WIN ON SATURDAY I am positive. Sorry, your type isn't wanted here.
Leicfox Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 PLAY GALLAGHER UP FRONT! Gallagher will and never has been anywhere near a 20 goal a season striker. He only averages about 7 a season, so is on track with the 2 he's scored so far for us. Best position for me is probably playing tucked in behind the front 2.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 I'm a little suprised - after seeing the result I was expecting a 'sack Pearson' thread but no one's done that yet. No Neilsen again - is our lack of form down to him not being in the side? Many of you will scoff, and I can't comment fully as I've seen none of the games, but there could be a link?
Daggers Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 OMG shokka - Pisson is a wanka an need to go - Mandi spend all ure money or FO - we shud be promoshun candid8s but were playin 2 bad We need to sign Gradel and Elvis and bring DJ back and Dickov and Adams and... I'm a little suprised - after seeing the result I was expecting a 'sack Pearson' thread but no one's done that yet. I counted four texts to RL and then turned off
Tilley Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 Gallagher will and never has been anywhere near a 20 goal a season striker. He only averages about 7 a season, so is on track with the 2 he's scored so far for us.Best position for me is probably playing tucked in behind the front 2. If that is the case then such a substantial fee shouldn't have been wasted on a player that quite clearly doesn't fit into our system and style of play.
Anish Posted 26 January 2010 Posted 26 January 2010 Completely agree with Tilley's comments. Pearson's mediocre signings and questionable management decisions are now catching up with him and others teams have identified our weaknesses. I'm getting sick of the hoofball football we play as a result of our defenders being unable to pass, our midfielders being able to create space and keep the ball and our strikers being unable to hit the net. We're setting off with a handicap by playing no wingers and playing players out of position. Our squad is definitely weaker this season than last season and that's a damning indictment of Pearson's decisions and transfers.
