HankMarvin Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 A POLISH billionaire wants to buy Leicester City from Milan Mandaric. Jozef Wojciechowski has targeted the Foxes after looking at several clubs. Wojciechowski, who made his fortune in real estate, is currently the owner of Polonia Warsaw. A source close to him said: "Wojciechowski is serious about this. He believes Leicester has huge potential." The sun

Ashley Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 MM has done so well.. I really trust him with the club, I wouldn't want him to go. But that does say Billionaire lmao, at the above...............I agree...............
foxoffderby Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 Really need to find out more about this guy, if the story has any substance. Im a bit wary of these so called billionaires since the troubles Pompey have had. We don't want to go that way. However, if its a true story it could be interesting. I would trust somebody more if they reduced our debt (hopefully wiped it out ) bought our staduim out right and then invested in players in that order, the club would have a true foundation and really crack on. Until that happens I will take it with a pinch of salt.
Finnegan Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 J.W. Construction eraIn March 2006 the club gained a new owner, J.W. Construction company, one of the biggest house development companies in Poland. The club budget was strengthened, and at first it seemed, that Polonia can quickly become one of the strongest clubs in Poland. However, the club was relegated to the 2nd league after ending in last place in the 1st league in 2005/2006. Since 2006/2007 Polonia struggled to get promoted to the 1st division again, coming close but ultimately failing to reach the spots that would ensure promotion. In the 2007/08 season it finished in seventh place. Merger with "Groclin" Dyskobolia Grodzisk In July 2008 Polonia Warsaw merged with Dyskobolia Grodzisk Wielkopolski (3rd in the Ekstraklasa in 2007/08) and took over its place in the Polish top division. Most of Dyskobolia's players moved to Warsaw to form the core of Polonia's new team. Several players from Polonia's old squad stayed in the club too. The team managed to finish 4th at the end of the 2008/2009 season, and subsequently reached 3rd qualification round of Europa League. In 2009/2010, after several changes in managerial position and with team performing below expectations (15th place in the mid-season break), the club chairman J. Wojciechowski decided to hire the former FC Barcelona captain José Mari Bakero as a manager. While the team was last in the league at that point, Bakero managed to save the season by avoiding relegation and winning against the local rivals Legia Warszawa for the first time in 10 years. It was also Polonia's first win against its bitter rivals at home in 60 years sending supporters into summer break ecstatic. From the club's wikipedia. "The club budget was strengthened, and at first it seemed, that Polonia can quickly become one of the strongest clubs in Poland. However, the club was relegated to the 2nd league" Sound familiar?
foxoffderby Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 See what I mean. Im wary of anyone coming to the club investing in players etc without reducing debt or buying the staduim. I would find it difficult to trust 'em. Short term gain for a long term heartbreak. Football needs to be run like a busineess and not a hobby.
Asha Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 For the record, I'd be in tears if he came in and bought us. Tears of joy.
teblin Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 As long as he is "Fit and Proper" it can only be a good thing. Imagine what NP could do with a big budget.
Unit Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 As long as he is "Fit and Proper" it can only be a good thing. Imagine what NP could do with a big budget. Yeah that's the only concern really, people can still be seen as fit and proper and completely fook you over. Let's hope he's not like that if anything does happen. My neighbours and my uncle are Polish and they're all nice if that's anything to go by?
Uncle Monty Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 Yeah that's the only concern really, people can still be seen as fit and proper and completely fook you over. I'm yet to meet a unfriendly Pole.
filbertway Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 After seeing what's happened to alot of clubs, I would only be interested if there was a guarentee that they would clear the debts for free without wanting anything in return. It's no use giving us £100 million to invest in players etc if they want it back in loans in the future. Also, I doubt this will go anywhere.
Fosse Boy Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 For the record, I'd be in tears if he came in and bought us. Tears of joy. I'm skeptical. Let's not go making rash statements like this until we know whether this guy's proper, and it's not just a rumour in a Murdoch rag.

OriginalRobboFOX Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 MM has done so well.. I really trust him with the club, I wouldn't want him to go. But that does say Billionaire Look at QPR... No thanks.
Fox92 Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 Milan Mandaric is a legend for what he has done for this club. I'll back him every step of the way and trust him 100%. However, I did here him say that he may need someone to help him out. But, buy him out? A billionaire? If this is true, Nigel will have a lot of money to play with. Not to sure.

Ric Flair Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 If it gets us that Lewandowski or however you pronounce his name, then bring the fooker on.
The Padster Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 Also, I doubt this will go anywhere. This. After all it is being reported in The Sun.
Zingari Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 when i saw Polish billionaire I thought it would be Mr. Muscle
CosbehFox Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 If it gets us that Lewandowski or however you pronounce his name, then bring the fooker on. He's off to Dortmund. 24 goals this season, his record is terrific. This fella has a lot of dough - he's a creditable business man similar to Mandaric, he went to Sweden and the US first. Then onto Poland to make his estimated £125 million pounds fortune. He's like every millionaire though - big ego, 14 managers in 4 years and literally bought a place in the league. Billionaire I assume applies to his fortune in zlotys.
Houdini Logic Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 Surely you meant to put billionaire in caps, not Polish?
Cheese Me Posted 28 May 2010 Posted 28 May 2010 I agree with a few of the earlier posters on MM. Whilst 'legend' might be a bit strong he has really turned the club around from a horrible position and he's won my trust, respect and even affection to an extent. I'd love to see more cash in the club to push us on to the next level but I'd prefer to see some external investment as opposed to change of ownership. A period of stability for once has done us some good and we shouldn't necessarily be in a hurry to unsettle that.
