Ozwin Posted 2 August 2010 Posted 2 August 2010 This sounds too good to be true. Something's bound to go wrong.
ts_1010 Posted 2 August 2010 Posted 2 August 2010 Has anyone read the comments in the second link about 'petronas'? I have just googled it and its some sort of Oil and Gas company based in..... yes youv'e guessed it Malaysia... check it out on wiki Petronas have been funding an F1 team in some form or another for years. Currently Sauber, and they are responsible for an awful lot of the development of their homeland through the revenue that they bring in (As mentioned in the links they are owned by the Malasian Governement). If it is them, and I dont know why they would want a football club, then they have millions to invest. However any information source that says "This is no joke so please take what i am about to say as genuine!" just seems to remind me of footballrumours... Doubt i believe this.
Guest Bilo Posted 2 August 2010 Posted 2 August 2010 If it is Petronas, this just got exciting. They have assets totalling $110 billion apparently and own one of the most iconic buildings in Asia, they are a genuinely huge concern. That kind of money coming into the club could well transform us.
Edmund Posted 2 August 2010 Posted 2 August 2010 Sry,I,dropped,water on,my,keyboard,but= It,isnt,Petronas,they,are,Malasian Governement,run,and,invest,only,in, Malasian,stuff,aka,the,stuff,abve,F1

AjcW Posted 2 August 2010 Posted 2 August 2010 Has anyone read the comments in the second link about 'petronas'? I have just googled it and its some sort of Oil and Gas company based in..... yes youv'e guessed it Malaysia... check it out on wiki Who the hell has to wiki to find out who petronas are!?!?!?! Steven Posted 3 August 2010 Posted 3 August 2010 I am still hearing that it is a Thai consortium and not a Malaysian one.
ThurmastonFox Posted 3 August 2010 Posted 3 August 2010 Couldn't view your post on my iPhone as there were too many ooooooos! Exciting times Maybe we're getting what Bert said a little wrong, maybe Oooooooon is the name of the leader of the consortium? I'll get my coat
CheshireFox Posted 3 August 2010 Posted 3 August 2010 This sounds too good to be true. Something's bound to go wrong. he's right you know. it is us after all- nothing good ever happens to us unless theres a catch....
AmericanScott Posted 3 August 2010 Posted 3 August 2010 Two guys came into my shop yesterday wearing Malaysian FA shirts. Very friendly and bought some things. They looked like they could be related to the investors. Maybe just a coincidence but just linking some pieces together
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 3 August 2010 Posted 3 August 2010 Hmmm. If these investors 'have more backing than Man City' why us?? Why not Utd/Liverpool or even lower end Prem... Geordie, West Brom, Wigan.... Doesn't all ring true.
Babylon Posted 3 August 2010 Posted 3 August 2010 Hmmm. If these investors 'have more backing than Man City' why us?? Why not Utd/Liverpool or even lower end Prem... Geordie, West Brom, Wigan.... Doesn't all ring true. Because it's all pap written by someone on 606.
samlcfc Posted 3 August 2010 Posted 3 August 2010 Hmmm. If these investors 'have more backing than Man City' why us?? Why not Utd/Liverpool or even lower end Prem... Geordie, West Brom, Wigan.... Doesn't all ring true. im not saying theyve got loadfs of money cause the only reason perople are even contemplating this is cause of some message on the 606 board. If they did havve a bit of money though it could be something to do with a decent deal. I mean we're a pretty decent club and as far as anyone knows at the moment theyve only took on under half a share in the club with a view to taking over. If it doesnt go the way they like it leaves them with less responsibility and maybe theres other things in the deal to entice them
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 3 August 2010 Posted 3 August 2010 Hmmm. If these investors 'have more backing than Man City' why us?? Why not Utd/Liverpool or even lower end Prem... Geordie, West Brom, Wigan.... Doesn't all ring true. Possibly because we have a lot less debt than them and not being in the Prem significantly cheaper. We have as big if not bigger fan base than half the teams in the Prem so if they want to invest they will get better value from us than say a Bolton who are considerably more in debt than we are. Also MM is actively trying to sell so the opportunity is there with us and from the sounds of some of the comments they have probably been able to negotiate a deal that is beneficial to them.
lcfcadam Posted 3 August 2010 Posted 3 August 2010 Because it's all pap written by someone on 606. Obviously I wouldn't say anything for certain, because in football things rarely happen how people predict, but this seems an awful lot more genuine than some "pap from 606".
hackneyfox Posted 3 August 2010 Posted 3 August 2010 Nope Would you like to expand on that? My understanding (from someone who personally knows an ex director who has been checking them out as 'right & proper') is that it is a Thai consortium (one of which currently owns a Thai premier team) along with some Aussies and a couple of Brits. This is NOT 607 poop. This has been in the pipeline for some time, they never walked away, and it is very likely to happen. Why people keep denying it when MM himself has admitted to being in talks is beyond my comprehension.
Liamlcfc1 Posted 3 August 2010 Posted 3 August 2010 My mate said a man called Wittaya Khunpluem has been looking around today just done some reasurch he owns a Thai football club called Chonburi FC Football Club http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wittaya_Khunpluem
