richardsfoxes Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 How close are they to completing this deal Bert? - Are they stuck in negotiations over money, aka investment in the club or that over rumour that Milan wants to stay for another year and wants 51% of the club. If they were at the training ground surely this deal must be nearly done, what i dont understand is if the deal was nearly done like 2 weeks ago, why would they still be showing them around the training ground....
skinnydipper Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 Don't know why Milan took them in the club shop. Nothing spectacular in there is there? Asian consortium are playing hardball and have demanded Milan gives them voucher for 5% discount in club shop if he is only letting them have 49% of club
imagine that Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 Asian consortium are playing hardball and have demanded Milan gives them voucher for 5% discount in club shop if he is only letting them have 49% of club He just took them in the club shop and gave them a bunch of stuff. Shirts, books etc.
MPH Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 He just took them in the club shop and gave them a bunch of stuff. Shirts, books etc. Ooooh. I think I am going to give mandy a call and tell him I am interested in buying the club....
MC Prussian Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 Asian consortium are playing hardball and have demanded Milan gives them voucher for 5% discount in club shop if he is only letting them have 49% of club He must've talked them into buying the entire new away shirt stock. Or maybe they got blinded by its total yellow-ness. Mandy's got sense, after all.
Narborough_fox Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 Maybe they fell out because the away kit was taking so long to be released but now they love the new kit they are back to buy the club if Mandy buys them all a shirt and printed with LCFC MEANS THE WORLD (2) ME
skinnydipper Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 Thankfully our new away shirt isn't blue and white stripes otherwise it would have looked as if Bananas in Pyjamas were on tour
Jon the Hat Posted 23 July 2010 Posted 23 July 2010 See. I told you things would come good. It ain't over till the old fat man sings.

haraven Posted 24 July 2010 Posted 24 July 2010 Just out of curiosity, has any businessman ever made money on a football club? I don't believe the owners of Liverpool has made any money, nor the Glazers at Man Utd. Definately not the owners of Man City, and I have my doubts that Abromovich earned on Chelsea - he must have spent more than he has made. I know some are in for the long turn, but making money on a football club is not the best way of getting rich fast imho.

I beleive Peter jones (dragons den) got it right when he said "how do you become a millionaire? Be a billionaire and buy a football club"

Mawsley Posted 25 July 2010 Posted 25 July 2010 Just out of curiosity, has any businessman ever made money on a football club? Sam Hamman isn't doing badly from it, not quite so sure about Cardiff.

It probably helps him evade taxes as well back home etc etc. Don't buy into this "football clubs are just a financial black hole", the financial interest from some of the world's big spending powers should tell you that football clubs are not mainly ego-boosts. People don't buy football clubs for personal gain, they buy them for ego boosts. It is very strange though that many of the people that get involved in football clubs are either highly successful businessmen or dubious characters who don't exactly have squeaky clean reputations (or both), don't you think?
Jon the Hat Posted 26 July 2010 Posted 26 July 2010 I wonder whether any tax authorities are clever enough to confer on the transfers fees paid and recieved to make sure they agree?
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 26 July 2010 Posted 26 July 2010 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/leicester_city/8856435.stm Not sure if its been posted and quite frankly cant be arsed to check. ''Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric says talks with potential investors are continuing and insists that those interested are "football people". "If there is any deal with these people I can tell you they are passionate people who love the game of football," Mandaric told BBC Radio Leicester. "They are football people and they are not coming here just to make money. "They are here to participate in the football and to see if they can help elevate the club to a higher level." Speculation has been mounting for months that Mandaric is looking to either sell up or bring in additional funding. But while Mandaric admitted discussions are ongoing, he said reports that a deal had been done were wide of the mark. "We have nothing concrete to report but as soon as we have something the supporters will be the first to know," Mandaric said. "Whatever happens - if it happens - it will be something to benefit the club...so the fans have nothing to worry about. "There are some conversations with people who want to come and be a part of the club - and that is what we are working on. "How much is going to happen and when it is going to happen is hard to say; it could happen in two or three weeks or it could not happen at all. "If this deal happens it happens for the benefit of the club and not Milan Mandaric."
Ozwin Posted 26 July 2010 Posted 26 July 2010 It'll be better for everyone if they sort it out sharpish, we need to get some players in, the clock's ticking.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 26 July 2010 Posted 26 July 2010 While added finance will be welcome, does anybody else feel that the final bit of the heart and soul of the club will disappear? Money is ruining the game I fell in love with and I fear that my support for the club I started supporting over 30 years ago may start to go. I read an article yesterday with regards to Man City having £100m still to spend before the transfer deadline. Now this may just be a figure plucked out of the air but for me they have become nothing more than a plaything for a rich Arab. It is no longer about the fans, just one person. I am sure that some will not care as long as there is success but what are the chances of a local hero coming through the ranks when they can just spend £20m on a player like fantasy football. Money is the root of all evil so they say. What will happen to these clubs when the owners decide to walk away? What happens when the average family is priced out of seeing their local team and a generation of fans become lost to another team or sport? I suppose for now fans like me will just go along for the ride and see what happens but if I see a Brazilian declare his undying love for Leicester and saying how much he has always respected Leicester I think I will have to walk away.
