Waghorn

There will be times this season when we need Waghorn's energy and ability. Especially at the tail end of the campaign. Don't think letting him go would help us, the more i think about it, especially as it'll probably be to a play-off rival.

Same here.

You need 4 strikers if we're serious about going on a run between now and the end of the season, Yak, Vassell, Howard and Waggy are those 4, a loan move may be good for him - but he's only 20 he should bide his time and I'm sure he'll get half hour in games rather than 5mins, then who knows he may show enough promise to start, but at the very least we need him as backup

agreed and considering we kinda play 3 up front , and that Waggy and Vassell can play out wide, 4 is probably a minimum. A couple of injuries, especially if it's Howard/Yak/Vas (out and out front men), and we're screwed.

I can't understand why anybody among our supporters would want him to leave in any capacity - were you not watching last season?

He's not had a run in the first team all season so he's never going to have been able to impress. If sending him out on loan is going to be the best outcome for all concerned then fair enough, but I'm glad to see Eriksson rates him enough to think about him for the future. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Waghorn, it's a shame he's just not had the opportunities this season. He'll be fine.

I think he definitely needs to go out on loan with a recall clause just in case. He is only going to get rusty not getting proper match practice.

He does, imho, come second to Gallagher in terms of frustration at times though as he clearly has a lot of ability and the potential to create things and change games but i think it is the lack of chances that is obviously hampering him and will only go on to hamper him the longer he warms the bench.

Go out on loan, score some goals, improve the confidence and prove to Sven that you can 'still' perform & score at this level?

he was indeed quality last season....

he will know what and will not want to sit on his bum all season.... he is young and will want to improve and you simply cant do that sitting on the bench...

Training with the likes of the Yak won't hurt though..... two sides to every coin.

I think selling waggy would be a grave mistake , maybe a short term loan deal, but please not to derby!!!!! and then get him back in the team alongside yakubu , games and confidence is all he needs as we saw last season this boy has the talent and knows where the goal is

IN SVEN WE TRUST :sge:

Good decision Sven. Especially the bit about Weale.

This. Sends out a good message and is exactly true, Weale is more than capable in this league and there is no point buying someone marginally better, it will just damage Weale.

Very impressed Sven said it wasn't even waggys fault he hadn't had the opportunities, very honest thing to say.

Bloody hope not. Hope it's just specualtion. Rather see Howard bugger off.

If we are going to loan Waggy out, then Preston would be good one, we have played them twice, so it would be good to see there team strenghened against any of our playoff opponents.

Waggie out on loan right or wrong, I think wrong he needs more time on the pitch not on the bench

Every good team has 4 forwards who can do a job, we've finally got that in Yakubu, Vassell, Howard & Waggy

Sending him out on loan isn't the end of the world, but really we need 4 forwards for the run-in, pitches are gonna be heavy Vassell looks like he's going to pick up a niggle every now & again - The Yak is an unknown quantity but hasn't been 100% for the past 2 years. Howard isn't really a starter but can hold the ball up well if we need to defend in numbers and go long ball. Waggy must stay. Simple. He's 20 for christ's sake, he's got so much more to give, he may as well give that with us.

A good player who offers us something different to what we currently have. I know, let's ship him out to another team in our division!

I can't understand Svens logic of getting rid of proven players at this level to bring in unproven ones. Especially when he hasn't given them a fair chance.

He should start on Tuesday with both Vassell and Yakubu unavailable.

A decent performance by Waghorn at Eastlands, regardless of the result, would be positive for both him and City.

You can hardly argue that Yakubu or Vassell are "unproven".

They're also more suited to Sven's system than Waghorn is.

Unless we revert to 4-4-2 any time soon (which isn't likely), Waghorn isn't likely to get too many oppportunities in the starting eleven.

Was he seen at Preston's ground at the weekend?

If so, does this mean the rest of the squad are leaving to go to Preston too?!

My point is that Waghorn has had little game time to prove he is suited to Sven's system.

Yakubu and Vassell aren't unproven, but Bernard Parker is IF we decide buy him to replace Waghorn as backup.
