kyle09uk Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 I remember when we couldnt afford joey gudjonssons transfer for 200k (somewhere around that) and the majority were keeping there fingers crossed for us to find someway of signing him, and now we're (apparently) looking at players of SWP calibre... WOWSER!
MikeyT Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 Didn't realise he is nearly 30. Thought he was mid twenties.
kyle09uk Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 I didnt think he actually ages? always looked about 16 to me...
Callabinho Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 I heard the swp romour, app Sven said he would like him, but he has said that about becks and Santa cruz
LCFCmatt Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 Would be a great signing but will never happen. Ever.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 He's desperately odd form if his performance against us last week was anything to go by, but on top of his game he is brilliant. Can't see it happening mind.
ScouseFox Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 Well if we went 4-4-2, I'd rather have SWP on the right flank than Oakley, which is what we had last season. Either way, this probably won't happen.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 I wouldn't like this signing if it happened - the guy has a bigger reputation then his consistant performances deserve in my opinion. It would also take the side a further step away from being the Leicester I know and love.

It would also take the side a further step away from being the Leicester I know and love. What? Mediocre underachievers, scraping the bottom of the transfer barrel? cause that's what we've been for the last 5 or 6 years. I've 'known' so many different city teams over the years, from the awful to o'neill's 'one player short of greatness' squad, and I could never define a typical Leicester - the Leicester i 'know and love' are the 11 players that pull on a blue shirt and come out to the post horn gallop every weekend, regardless of value or nationality or reputation. Love or loathe the loan system if it means that one of those 11 is yakuba or wright phillips or david beckham, they're still leicester. Having a transfer budget doesn't make us any less Leicester, after all this is still bargain hunting compared to the millions peter taylor pissed away on nobodies. Who knows what he'd bring to the team, but I'd welcome him cause as one poster put, who wouldn't prefer him as a right winger to Matt Oakley?
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 if he did drop to this level he would destroy the league. This comment is guided on absolutely nothing - he could destroy the league, but equally he could also find it a horrible difference to the Premier League and be absolute crap. Craig Bellamy was predicted to do the same, but other than odd flash he's flattered to deceive and David James hasn't exactly has the best of times at Bristol City. He hasn't had a lot of games of late, so it wouldn't be easy to hit the ground running and given that our fans love to hate someone in the team I wouldn't be suprised if he suffered the brunt of growns. He's also very difficult to fit in a team because of his hight (or lack of it), you have to hide him in certain defenisve situations causing a team to alter its shape. His lack of stature could also cause him problems in the Championship as I wouldn't think he'd gain the same sort of protection he would be accustomed to in the Premier League. Now obviously Sven knows him a lot better than I do and would see him as an improvement on what we have but funnily enough, I think we could do better with a lesser named player (Adam Hammill anyone?).

enex Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 going to brum? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1346650/Birmingham-plotting-double-swoop-Manchester-City-misfit-Wright-Phillips-Leicester-ace-Wellens.html
LCFCmatt Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 I did think he was very poor against us last week
Callabinho Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 Dj Barry Hammond - yea you right, it would be good to try and temp some of the championships better players to us! But I guess Sven has confidence he can temp PL players to us.
cc_star Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 SWP on one wing, dyer on the other, yak and vassell up front. That would be an awesome combination!!! At this level they would tear teams to bits!! Well if anyone can do it Sven can! Make it happen!! Sounds a nightmare for our defence to me
lestajigs Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 Didn't realise he is nearly 30. Thought he was mid twenties. He's got the hight of an 8 year old!!!!
Yorkshire Blue Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 Sounds a nightmare for our defence to me Sorry, I've probably missed something in the thread... but why would it be a problem to our defence? Lack of tracking back?
shailen Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 Swp would be an awesome signing for us and is certainly realistic. I really hope he comes
Tommy G Posted 16 January 2011 Posted 16 January 2011 I would love sven to sign commons even if he is a sheep. We should have signed parkin too, mistake that was. Did cardiff pick him up for 100k?? Shame QPR aren't poor otherwise we could tempt Taarbat away if we stuck a few mill under their nose
J.Lisemore Posted 17 January 2011 Posted 17 January 2011 fvck SWP...whats Micheal Kightly doing nowadays?
