Ched Evans - For a million

Im happy with the likes of nugent and think he will be good but seriously ched evans, for 1 mil and hes not even as good as waggy plus i think howard could do a job for 10-15 minutes coming on for a lot less wages, if we sign him i don't know what sven sees in him but happy with every other player we've been linked with or signed so far!

Yeah I'd rather we keep Howard, lacks goals like Evans but holds the ball up so well and brings others into the game. He also gets the crowd going in some matches and it lifts the team. He's such a fighter he works his socks off unlike some players in recent times-Matty Fryatt etc. :scarf:

Rather have Kermorgant back, he's crap hence he plays for Sheff uUd and scored like 3 goals last year just do 1 Ched ur shit

he scored 9 goals last season. in a very bad team. Played 33 goals which is more than 1 in 4 but less than 1 in 3.

Its also more goals than some of out strikers scored last season.

Bit of a come-down from the free-scoring likes of Yakubu, Maynard and CMS

Nugent + Evans has about 10 to 15 goals written all over it, hardly top 2 standard.

Nugent scored 15 last season ( usually played out on the wing too) and Evans scored 9 goals.

would not be disastrous to get them both.,,, Evans i think would score more in a decent team... when not fighting a relegation battle....

Jesus we have some plonkers on here don't we. The lad is only 22 years old, he is tall and good in the air - possibly the replacement for Steve Howard who will want 1st team football as he is getting on.

To date we have Howard, Waghorn and Vassell as strikers, without Howard that gives us POSSIBLY Waghorn, Vassell, Evans, CMS, Nugent.

If we play a 3 man strike force that gives us the possibility of Waghorn, Vassell, Nugent and Gallagher to play out wide, not forgetting Dyer. Therefore CMS will be the man down the middle with Evans a posibility from the bench. Therfore we may have one more striker to sign that would play down the middle.

Evans is a gamble as he has not had the best of times at Sheff Utd, remember he is 22, he also was not long ago a 3million pound striker. If Waghorn was free to leave on the cheap we would snap him up straight away. Sven must rate him which is enough for me.

It is all about development with me, if the rumours are true about an under 23 team next season, Waghorn and Evans would be decent strikeforce that could work together for a few years.

This should have been buried a long time ago. Apparently waghorns not good enough but Evans is?

Unless of course we have a shortage of strikers in the reserves - he can cover for crncic

Waghorn isn't good enough. Neither is Howard, hence we need a big striker for when CMS and Maynard (for example) are having the shit kicked out of them by some dirty center halfs.

Evans is a talented player he has proved that in the past, but not of late that is the only thing to worry about.

If he is actually signed to start I won't be pleased, Howard is too old and Waghorn is out of favour, Evans as back-up would be ok.

But he doesn't have much to offer, think we can do better.

Just spoke to my mate who's a shef utd sth and he said people are saying at his end Evans will sign on Monday or maybe before. I'll always give who ever comes a chance but i don't think he's any better than Waghorn! The word is 750k which would be a good deal.

Hes only 23 don't forget so plenty of time develop. Decent record at Norwich and at under 21 level to be fair to him.

It's important remember Sven is building a squad to push for promotion not a starting 11. With that in mind decent buy at the right price.

See what Jamie Mackie did for QPR after signing from a relegated plymouth last year maybe Evans could be our Jamie Mackie????

Dont get me wrong it could work out well my friend said he will end up somewhere and do really well. I just hope it us

This.

This is what I've been trying to say on here for a few weeks now, people on QPR boards weren't happy when they signed Jamie Mackie, they were proved wrong as he turned out to be a sensation for them.

I trust Sven, Sven knows more about Ched Evans than anyone else on this forum does. If Sven does sign him then he must see something in him. He'll get my full backing what ever happens.

I'm not Evans' biggest fan, I've said from the start that I wouldn't want him if a big fee was attached and I agree he'd be a little underwhelming compared to Nugent or Jong. But given our need for depth and the relative pittance we're being quoted, I really don't understand anyone being so passionately against this signing. Especially if the same people are genuinely enthusiastic about CMS of all people and have probably seen Ched Evans play all of about once.

Given service and a decent, passing team - Evans will score goals at this level. Might not bang in twenty five but he'll do a job, Waghorn's not going to get us promoted on his own, is he, even if he is in Sven's plans?

And I highly doubt we're only going to sign one of the strikers we're linked to. This'd be a decent start.

A logical post about a Welsh player, you've changed

I agree would of been difficult to look good for Shefeild last term and we need depth he is only 23 and will improve as people do with age and better service. As Finners said if we aren't paying over the odds defiently worth a shot. Would be great to have 5-6 strikers in our squad that could easily walk in to 90% of the other championship sides starting 11. It's a long season and you need depth as you can't predict that if injuries occur, they will happen when the loan window is open.

Cousin married to a man city fan. When sheff utd signed him he told his excited sheff work mates that he would happily drive him to sheffield. Only scored one goal for city and that came off his backside. He did however say that mills was set to be the next big thing and would have made it at city if the silly money hadn't arrived.
