Bugg Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 I would want Waggy all day long over Evans. We go for Yak then CMS then Maynard all great players then Evans pops up come people hardly close to any of them. Billy Sharp should be next on the list probably get him for under 3.8m hes proven and scores wherever he plays would do well here. You'd prefer Waghorn over anybody the way you bang on about him. And if you look properly, Evans actually has a better goals to games ratio than Waghorn. *awaits a "OMG BUT HE PLAYED A TOTAL OF 5 MINUTES LAST SEASON" response*
artursteppe Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 Would anybody have wanted CMS this time last year after he had scored 10 goals for a relegated championship side. Ched Evans scored 9 goals for a relegated championship side - so someone explain why so many people seem to have no faith in Sven maybe wanting Evans who is about 5 or 6 years younger than CMS!
Father Ted Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 And Iain Hume scored 12 for Preston last season...

It's a very good point. CMS is known for an amazing workrate & ability to create stuff for others as well as banging in the most goals in the whole country. Evans was dropped to the bench SheffU reserves for pretty much the season before & last season I don't recall anyone talking about him in the way any of our other targets are talked about, sure he could blossom at a club you'll hope will play better than SheffU, but he's not even achieved as much as Waggy in this division, so I can't see how it will strengthen us in any way whatsoever
MikeyT Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 I'd rather have roman bednar (bender) back than ched Evans No you wouldn't

I didn't realise Waggy had been so prolific with his goalscoring in the Championship.
artursteppe Posted 15 July 2011 Posted 15 July 2011 You're forgetting that Waghorn has passion. I'm not forgetting anything. I like Waggy. I was commenting on Evans through comparisons. Evans I think is being much maligned, and I am baffled as to how some of these pretentious posters can in their arrogance believe they have greater ability in assessing players than Sven.

Ridiculous statement on top of ridiculous statement There's no arrogance anywhere, just facts, it's obvious what has Evans done in this division - he joined SheffU for £3m, flopped & spent his first year on the bench - thanks to departures he got another chance and scored 9, Waggy scored 19 when he had a run in the team, and he still scored half as many as Evans this time around and that's despite hardly making an appearance before the 88th minute, thanks to circumstances. Waggy will probably end up leaving for more 1st team football & because he's perhaps better in a front two than he is in Sven's flexible formation & Evans could come in, but that hasn't really improved us, we'd have just changed a fringe player and we'd arguably still need the real forward we're searching for. Stinks of pointlessness to me especially as both clubs involved will be taking a loss on their player

Jimmy Posted 16 July 2011 Posted 16 July 2011 he did? When was that? he scored 13 in his loan season dunno where he got 19 from
crazylegs1984 Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 im sure mini chedders would do a job but i dont think he would do it stright away if we want someone to work on and make better we have our waggy who we can mould and shape into our favourite little shape like play dough he would be too risky if we are gunning for promotion get the yak or maynard who can find the net
funkyrobot Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Cms and Hume were the outstanding players in their respective relegated teams. Judging by Sheffield utd fans' opinion, Evans certainly wasn't for them. As for waggy, I still don't see why there are so many haters out there. I think he's shown enough to be given every chance to play a role in sven's team this year. For me he is the one young striker we own who is an instinctive finisher and he will only get better.

I like Waggy, and hope we keep him so that he has a real opportunity to pick his head up and show us what he can do, but stating that he is an instinctive finisher is wishful thinking. In the friendy the other day in Sweden he missed a few opportunities passed on a plate by Kermogant of all people and he failed each time. Like i said i'd prefer him to do well, and not be shipped out, but that statement is way off the mark, a bit like Waggy's current finishing (ahem)
funkyrobot Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 My statement is way off the mark because he missed a couple of efforts? Or is it way off the mark because you don't agree with it spherical fox? By instinctive I mean he tends to score goals that are impulsive and can't be taught. A spontaneous finisher who probably does better the less he has to think about it.
MGLCFC Posted 17 July 2011 Posted 17 July 2011 Sunday papers say Ipswich are interested in Evans - good (but what's the betting he'll be a hit there?)

Sure I'll agree that he tends to score goals that impulsive and can't be taught. Sadly at the moment the ones that require clinical finishing have to be fetched out of the crowd or off the roof.

In which case my description of waggy being an instinctive finisher is not way off the mark as you previously suggested.
Happy Fox Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 Blades want to sort Ched future Doubt we are really interested in him
Bezzanator89 Posted 19 July 2011 Posted 19 July 2011 They can keep him, we have players who can score 4 goals in a game once in a blue moon.
foxes2011 Posted 25 July 2011 Posted 25 July 2011 ched evans is no better than the forwads we already have vassel and nugent are better i think. . would be a waste of money imo, may as well put money towards another player like uping the bid for maynard or go for someone else
