Corky Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 Off the top of my head, he spent around £5-6 million in 2009 and since then he bought Raddy for about £1m or so and we paid the wages of Boyd and Konchesky (a small fortune as it turned out) in his final few months. Yeah, I thought he'd spent a bit compared to most Championship clubs.
Webbo Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 Theres now 2 ex england managers in this league, but we have the more successful one! 2 ex England managers going head to head, bound to be televised when we play each other.
RedHux Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 Yeah, I thought he'd spent a bit compared to most Championship clubs. He's certainly spent enough for a side pushing for promotion but not wanting to "do a Cardiff" and go for the promotion or bust approach. I think had he been a better/more positive manager we'd have been promoted by now. You only have to look at his away results when regardless of who we played he'd start playing for a draw the moment the whistle went! Also, I don't think the playoff semi starting forwards was an especially bright move. Tudgay, McGoldraught and Tyson. Some argument can be made for Tyson but the other two!?!
samjohnson Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 Whats the likelyhood of a team going to the City Ground and the fans taking in umbrella's to just take the piss
RedHux Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 You wouldn't be allowed in. It's against the health and safety policy at the city ground.....as is most things.
Ozwin Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 I can see us and Forest both going up in the top 2 places, fighting tooth and nail all season to get that top spot.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 What whilst leaving birmingham, west ham, blackpool and leeds in our wake?:-S
Father Ted Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 What whilst leaving birmingham, west ham, blackpool and leeds in our wake?:-S
Mickey O'Neil Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 I do find giving Billy the boot a bit weird to be honest. Thought he did a decent job with Forest. Same goes with Cardiff and Jones. Oh well. Onwards and upwards.
Number 6 Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 Bizarre decision for me. I don't like Davies all that much but he had a settled side and was proven to be doing fairly well over the last couple of seasons. In comes a guy who will no doubt want his own starting XI, which takes time and money to put together. Couple this with the fact that he will be under immense pressure: large sections of the Forst fans won't want him becauyse of his England spell and so will be ready to jump on his back as soon as anything goes wrong. It's difficult to shift that negativity.
accessory Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 McClaren signed Yakubu for Middlesbrough. Could he be tempted to land him a second time?
Jimothy Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 McClaren signed Yakubu for Middlesbrough. Could he be tempted to land him a second time? Only if he's gonna rob a bank to pay for him. Forest don't have the cash, Davies constantly moaned about the lack of money invested in the squad.
sdb Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Shearer to Cardiff?!?! He's useless. And that's Bellamy's return out of the question!
Adster Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Shearer to Cardiff?!?! He's useless. And that's Bellamy's return out of the question! Am I missing something?
sdb Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Yeah they hate each other, following their time at Newcastle together
21st Century Fox Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 I have a bad feeling McClaren's going to a good job at Forest. He got alot of stick from his England days when he was completely out of his depth but he's a good club manager. He did well at Twente and his Middlesborough days aren't to be sniffed at. He's kind of got this stigma because of all those Sun campaigns against him (Same as Sven really) but with a few signings if they can scrape a couple of quid together he might do well. Damn.
ScouseFox Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 He'll do well, he's a good club manager. Look at Boro pre and post Schteve compared to his time there. And his work at Twente was hardly bad.
shailen Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Yeah they hate each other, following their time at Newcastle together Apparently bellamy sent a text to shearer saying his legs had gone and he was shit whilst they were both playing for newcastle!
Corky Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 Apparently bellamy sent a text to shearer saying his legs had gone and he was shit whilst they were both playing for newcastle! I'm no fan of Shearer but was a far better player than Bellamy ever will be.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 After all this time RedHux's sig still gets a laugh.
crisp monster Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 Forest have done well to find a manager with a face as red as their home shirt
