Sorry, I didn't read all of the last couple of pages and didn't realise you were referring to violence.

Back in the 70s, Stoke was a really hostile place for away fans to visit, probably on a par with Leeds and Milwall.

As much as I don't care for this harmless "banter" they're right in the fact a lot of you are quite sensitive, the fact people were getting livid over pundits predictions of the season summed it up for me. Only we could give a shit what Stoke are saying about us

And Leicester was such a friendly place we never had trouble.

I know Lawro doesn't get much space for each of his previews, but this has got to be one of his most vapid and generic previews ever:

The Potters are doing well - they are on four points and will see this as one of those winnable games.

Leicester managed a good draw against a free-flowing Arsenal side, but they haven't played a team like Stoke, who can be strong and physical but get the ball down and play in your half.

They have attackers like Leonardo Ulloa, Jamie Vardy and David Nugent who have lots of pace, but it'll be a tough ask to get anything at the Britannia Stadium.

The second clause of the last sentence looks like it bears next to no resemblance to the first. The first clause of that sentence just adds nothing of any value to anybody reading it, not to mention that the first player referenced seems completely out of place in that list. He might as well have written "They have players in Riyad Mahrez, Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Wes Morgan who are quite heavy, but it'll be a tough ask to get anything at the Britannia Stadium".

Stoke's defining characteristic hasn't been that they are "strong and physical" for about 18 months, but it's the first place Lawro goes of course. Needless to say that after 10 years outside the top flight, we have come across a few "strong and physical" sides in our time, much as Stoke have come across players with pace.

If you've got 100 words only to write about a game, how can you justify 80 words being such vacuous tripe as that first sentence? Is it too much to ask for some actual analysis from a "football expert"?

Well I for one would like to congratulate stoke on finishing above Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea last season.

I can only presume he thinks we were good against those three teams based soley on the fact we were really physical against them (which is clearly crap).

Scary that these people actually get paid for this shit.

I can't even be bothered to pick fault with his "points".

It's just so completely devoid of insight and cohesion.

I know the general standard of punditry in English football isn't very high, but anyone that can get worked up about Lawro's predictions must be actively looking for things to get offended about.

I'm not sure Lawro has ever gotten 50% of his match predictions correct in a season.

Anyway, what he writes isn't that bad.

-Stoke are playing well.

-Stoke will certainly consider themselves favorites in this game, as will bookies, statheads, and most other people.

-Leicester haven't played a team like Stoke.

-Stoke can still be physical, they have played physically and/or defensively at times so far this season, and they still have a lot of tall, strong players.

-It will be a tough ask to get a win at the Brittania.

That said, Ulloa has looked really good, but he's hardly on Jamie Vardy's level when it comes to pace.

The Media must be labelling us 'physical' based upon last seasons success with set pieces.

You know....When we looked so solid defending them and scored from one every week.

The latest ones for Danny just get classier. If not downright slanderous.......

"Or let's really mess with his head...how about give him dogs abuse for something he has never done...

For example...lets just chant rapist...rapist...rapist at him"

Or

"He takes drugs, he takes drugs, Dan Drinkwater

He takes drugs, he takes drugs, so hard

He takes drugs, he takes drugs, Dan Drinkwater

And he murders little kids with his car"

Stoke fans are walking adverts for the Eugenics movement !!!

one of those stoke fans suggested singing tubthumping - chumbawamba to drinkwater. i suggested that as an actual chant in the new chants thread when we signed him lol. if they even manage to get it going when we haven't i'll have an ounce of respect for the nobbers

I said it with a lot of those previews and I'll say it again but a lot of these kinds of blogs are done by people who want to cause a stir by talking about the top clubs and then just think they have a duty to include the whole league as a result. Half-arsed, devoid of any insight and blatantly done without really thinking about it. I'd take it with a pinch of salt and that's being generous.

I'm impressed with the sig.

I'm sorry but you can't just list off a series of unconnected facts and call it punditry.

I've got no issue with the "prediction" - that's his opinion, which he's paid to give. It's the "analysis" which he gives which is pathetic.

I prefer Derby more than these scumbags. They're an arrogant bunch so hope we beat them

My word, if you think we're arrogant wait till you play Arsenal away, Man Utd away, Chelsea away etc :) I assure you there's a lot worse than us. I think you're probably taking the Oatcake spanners a little bit too literally and probably a bit seriously as well. Like someone said above, we do like a bit of a wind up :)

Of course we do expect to win, but that's normal for a team who bases most their good form on home performances. It's certainly not arrogant. That doesn't mean we expect to turn up and walk away with three points with a pint one hand and our cock in the other. We know for a fact you're going to make us bloody work hard and therefore I'm expecting a really cracking game. Expectations are not the same as assumptions, and while I expect we will take three points I haven't assumed we will. You're a good team, certainly better than the other promoted sides and you will prove a decent test!

Of course, it's a very small minority but that'd be hard to forget for many Leicester fans. Like I said, we were entirely respectful to Doncaster but maybe we've learned from the experience.

Rookie mistake to bring up our rivals. To sum up. We dislike Derby. We dislike Forest much more and some of others dislike Coventry the most but most of us aren't too bothered by Coventry. We have about 35 threads on it every month

I guess bring up Derby and Forest is a bit like bringing up Vale on the Oatcake. That said, it's been so long since we've played Vale, I'd quite fancy an FA Cup or League Cup tie with them. The main reason I'd quite happily see Derby and Forest back is because it's great to see some more local away days. You three are some cracking away days and I won't lie, it gets bloody tiring travelling to places like Fulham where the fans are only there because the boat race isn't on. More noise in your local mortuary than Craven Cottage. That's probably a bit harsh to be fair, but there's certainly an element of truth to it.

It's gone from 'Stoke fans are all brain-dead cvnts, scummiest club in England' to 'oh  suppose they're alright, we're just the same really'.

Because one Stoke fan came on here an didn't lay into us.

I had a new found respect for this forum a page ago, now I've lost it again when I realised we were a bunch of inconsistent, soft twats.

I don't care how polite this guy is, fvck Stoke.

lol, that kind of made me laugh. I've not said anything of the sort, I've just merely pointed out that the guys on the Oatcake don't necessarily represent a large majority of Stoke fans. They certainly don't represent people like my old man who sits in the seat next to me.

Still, it's kind of funny that you think we're the scummiest club in England, all because of some plonkers on the Oatcake :D

Stoke are *****. Always have been, always will be.

Thanks :D :D :D :D

Bit like a pancake...generally eaten by people with no teeth.

:( I have teeth!

That's ok, I/we didn't like you long before any of us had heard of fvcking Oatcake.

I've not mentioned anything about what you said other than you were polite and didn't lay into us, so I'm not sure what you mean by 'I've not said anything of the sort'.

Oh, I thought you're "we're just the same" comment was directed at me. Fair enough.

I have hated them since the play off game, about 13 years old and getting spat at and attacked by their "fans" outside the ground.

Now I know they aren't all the same, doesn't mean those people didn't leave a lasting impression.

Remember beating them in the 96 playoff semi final and they invaded the pitch after the match only got to the half way line but there support had a bad reputation back then dont know if much has changed

I only went to the home game missed the away leg but if i remember rightly they players got escorted off the pitch and they kept the Leicester supporters in the ground for a while till everything cooled off
