The "do they mean us?" thread

Recommended Posts

Liverpool fan here.  Just want to congratulate you lot on your incredible season.  Pretty much every neutral is rooting for you to win it all.  I took a look at the run ins of the top 4 and yours is by far the easiest left.  I think that if you get 11 points out of the 21 remaining, that could be enough.  What it comes down to is whether you choke or not.  Good luck and we'll try to do our part against Spurs at the start of April.   :)

I'll be cheering you lot on today.

A win at Southampton keeps your Champions League qualification and keeps your motivation high to beat Tottenham in your next game.

Also a defeat for Southampton means their Europa League hopes are less likely and with a two week break coming up they might just switch off a bit when they play us next match.

This runs millions of simulations of outcomes of remaining games with weighting based on current form, opposition, home/away etc. Currently has us at 80.7% chance of winning title and no chance of finishing lower than third.

And then we lose our next 2 matches and all the work and effort and statistical analysis is meaningless

You've just answered your own question.

Of course it's in our hands but anything less than W5 D2 L0 and it won't be in our hands.

You said you "don't care about Spurs results", which is a ridiculous statement.

We don't need to rely on Spurs losing ground but the chances are if they win their last eight games they'll win the title so we are heavily invested in their results. If Bournemouth get anything today I'll be dancing around like it was us, as should every Leicester fan.

But you're getting yourself into a huff for no reason.

The chances are that if we win our games, we don't need to worry what happens to anyone else as long as we're winning.

Hardly in a huff.  lol

An extremely naive analysis by you though. It goes without saying that if we win all our games we don't need to worry about what anyone else does, a five year old could tell us that insightful information.

The chances are though we won't win all our games and will be reliant on Tottenham slipping up. If they win all their games they'll probably win the title. Surely you can see we're heavily invested in Tottenham's results and you should care about their results?

I'll be cheering on Man Utd in the Manchester derby today for the same reason I'll be cheering on Bournemouth.

Also by the time we play Southampton we might only be two points clear so Tottenham slipping up is highly relevant to us.

No, you just said you don't care about Spurs result.

You are right though that if we win all our games we don't need to care, but as that's not likely I do care about their results. Every point Spurs drop makes our job easier, so I care massively about this afternoons result. It's very naive and simplistic to just expect us to win 8 and not have to worry about the chasing pack.

And what exactly is the problem with pi** taking names and banter? It's been part of football for ever!

I hope sanctimonious prissy knee jerking nit pickers forget how to type too but my understanding from the forum police is that a forum is about whatever opinion or terminology you want to use as long as its not sexist, racist or abusive?

Anyway I hope the Spuds drop points today :)

Great post BTS lol

Brilliant

Sometimes, I harken back to the Vardy casino incident, and I wonder: what would happen if Vardy had to see a Japanese person every day after that? Like, if he had a colleague or partner at work, and they had to interact pretty much every day on a collaborative effort. Let's say the work that they did together was vitally important to both their company and their respective careers, it was in the public eye, and it required lots of personal interaction.

I wonder what Vardy's colleague would think about his coworker. I wonder how they would resolve this conflict, how Vardy would learn from this and use it to broaden his horizons, how the two would get along afterwards, and how successful they would be at work.

That would be really interesting, I think.

getting closer lads - don't have it all wrapped up before you beat us on May 7th - i want to say I saw it!!!

NSNO

alright - i'm talking about you

just a word to say i hope you go all the way and finish the job

it's so refreshing and really puts the cats among the pigeons in relation to united, chelsea and liverpool all not being in the CL again - in some ways the only way i thought it would be shaken up is if we went down to 3 clubs in the CL from England if the coeffiecients meant italy overtook us

as an older fan, i remember derby, forest winning it and QPR Watford and Ipswich having a go for it so this is just the way it was in the 1970s

and if you look at the early 60s it was even madder, with Burnley and Ipswich getting a look in

but the thing i most enjoy is knowing there will be loads of loyal Foxes who have watched them year in year out and will find this mental

when everton won the title in 85 i'd put up with years of that shower over the park and we stole a march with cheap misfits and young kids

to win it was nothing like the fans of City, Blackburn or Chelsea felt because it was signposted with money

enjoy the ride and you'll need bert kassis' site for next year's adventure: http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/

Don't wanna jinx any remaining potential Bournemouth mojo but if Spurs have an achiles heel it's giving up leads later in games. The cherries won't quit on this game. Let's hope they can sneak a goal and make Spurs nervous a bit.

lol

You can see them overtaking us because they're beating Bournemouth?

If they win today and beat Liverpool away we'll only be two points ahead by the time we kick off against Southampton.

Suddenly that 8pt gap is all but gone without us kicking a ball in anger. :(

Then we have a game in hand, and we're fully capable to reopen the five point gap.

That's if Spurs win today, when they're 2 up with 60 minutes to play.

They could end up losing this 3-2 and getting destroyed at Liverpool, or they could win both, I don't care as long as we're on top form. Them dropping points against a bottom end team would be a bonus. A very welcome bonus, but a bonus nonetheless.
