Crazy that there is a HW unification fight at the weekend and not a post on this thread for two and a half days. This fight would be huge if happening here or in the states but feels so subdued. Saudi's getting involved as helped to bring fights together but whats the point if they feel like a non-event when they happen?

I was thinking the same.

For me, a large part of any sport event is the atmosphere created by the crowd.

The main events in Saudi recently have sheikhs ringside more interested in their phones and "influencers" who want to show off their supposed rich lifestyle on tick tock.

I'll listen to it on the radio.

Boxing people, as a massive casual who is interested in this but is not at all a night owl, is this worth making special effort to stay up for and watch? Pls advise as experts.

They reckon the ring walks are 11pm.

Hopefully the bell for round 1 rings around 1130pm, so it will be done by 1230am at the latest.

On paper it should be a good fight, and with heavyweights there is always the 1 punch possibility of an early night.

I've followed Boxing since the Hagler Hearns era and this has the potential to be one of the genuine great fights which I didnt think would happen.

Lewis v Holyfield too was a big heavyweight v a pumped up cruiserweight  and there's always been the old adage that a good big un will beat a good smaller one.

It all depends which Fury you get. If its the one v Big Francis  then Usyk will out fight him and keep away from his bombs. If it a Fury at 90%+ it will be him.

Just hope it lives upto the expectations

Opinion seems fairly split, from what I've seen.

My personal opinion is that it seems so long since an actual "big" fight happened that people aren't used to it, so judgements are somewhat clouded.

But, as others have pointed out, it's ridiculous that I'm not that bothered. Biggest fight in the last few years, with a Brit (whether you like him or not) and it's barely making the news.

Fury is in tip top condition for this one. He’s clearly taking it very seriously.

Uysk will be in the 220lb range I think when they weigh in.

Fury could be as low as 255lbs. That’s still a 2.5 stone difference.

Both move well and are good technical boxers.

Fury has the reach and height advantage and can still utilise that leaning tactic by putting the weight onto the smaller man; then fighting on the inside if he has to.

I’m an Uysk fan, I really like him and he’s a great role model. I really dislike Fury.

However Fury has clearly dropped the weight for this fight, as he doesn’t need that bulk to absorb the punches, traditionally thrown by “big” heavyweights. I think he’ll keep it at a distance fairly early and just out point him. He’s taken this seriously and hasn’t underestimated Uysk.

Fury win by points for me.

As an aside, historically Uysk is around the size of some of your classic Heavyweight names at 6’3”, 220lbs. It’s just that Fury is so big!

Louis - 6’2”, 200lbs

Foreman - 6’4”, 218lbs

Frazier - 5’11”, 205lbs
Tyson - 5’10”, 217lbs

Liston - 6’0”, 218lbs

Lewis - 6’5”, 240lbs

Wilder - 6’7”, 231lbs

W Klitchko - 6’7”, 243lbs

V Klitchko - 6’7”, 248lbs

Ali - 6’3”, 211lbs

Bowe - 6’6”, 235lbs

Holmes - 6’3”, 212lbs

Holyfield - 6’2, 218lbs

Marciano - 5’11”, 184lbs

Definitely. I’m no expert though ! It’s not a late one.

The undercard is pretty good too, Briedis v Opetaia (he’s one to watch) will be explosive.
Stick the tv on at about 7 (it gets going at about 5), enjoy !

I was going to say listen to it on radio but it seems like BBC haven't brokered a deal and Talksport fell out with team Fury so at the moment its not on the radio.

He looks very focused but also realised there's no point in wasting the energy trying to rattle Usyk so close to the fight, as it's had no affect on him previously.

I love how Usyk keeps his cool.

Fury being his nomal twatty self by shoving Usyk at the weigh in

Usyk to win on points for me.

If Tyson cuts in the first round or 2 it’s there for the taking. He also looked really shoddy against Ngannou.

Would be nice to see John Fury knocked down a peg or 2, what a strange human

Really  warming to Usyk and his calm nature.

Normally I prefer the extroverted  sportsman but I think Tyson is using needless energy so close to a big fights it's pretty dumb for him.

Tyson looked awful in the Ngannou fight but surprised more isn't being made by Usyk's performance against Dubois, he got a lot of help in that one. Really like both guys so don't mind who wins...just hope it is a good fight and scored fairly if it goes to the scorecards.

an interesting angle on things. I must admit, i don't know enough about cuts to discern if this is accurate or not...

It must've hampered his preparation. I also doubt it has healed properly, given the severity & time scale.

if I remember correctly, Usyk got really rocked by a gut punch  from Joshua too. Same area as Dubois hit him.

potential weakness.
