Can't agree with that. Having seen it a few times i gave it 116-112 GGG. I dont even think it was a close fight. Even the Mexican fans were booing their own fighter. Glad that one judge is getting the critiscm they are.

115-113 either way.

3rd and 4th rounds could of gone either way but I gave them to Canelo, Golovkin was slow and didn't do enough imo, Canelo produced the better work.

Rounds 5-9 were Golovkin's, 10-12 were tight but I thought Canelo just finished the stronger.

Massive winners from Saturday night in Vegas

1) the boxers , they get paid again now

2) the gamblers who staked $10,000 in 7 casinos at 30/1 the draw forcing the odds to collapse to 15/1

3) THE UFC ..... American fight fans are leaving in droves , boxing has been damaged beyond repair by this sort of judging

4) Bookies in UK actually only paid out peanuts on a draw ! A virtual 99.95% winning book ...

THE BIG LOSERS from Saturday night in Vegas

1) 99% of punters who bet on an outcome to the fight ... the bookies have cleaned up so the punters lost big

2) the boxing associations ... tarnished badly by that especially the WBC

3) Billy Joe Saunders , he has a gentlemans agreement to fight GGG in london in dec , that's not happening now so BJS must now wait maybe 12 months to fight either of these two

Yea I'm not knocking him

it's just laughable that a 38yo thinks he can be a pro boxer

I hope he has a laugh and enjoys it

What the hell is the point,  don't think getting knocked out in a sport he will not able to compete is going to help matters

I think it's a real shame that boxing is in danger of becoming a bit of a joke nowadays.

I grew up watching Hearns, Hagler, Duran, Sibson etc. and looking back, they were golden days.

Now we've got cricketers and footballers thinking they can box, the Mayweather/McGregor circus, all the pre-fight BS hype, plus hooky scoring and decisions .

And I really don't understand all the belts now either. Far too many organisations and associations with super, regular and interim champions etc.

I find the sport all a bit confusing these days if I'm honest...

Rio's kids have recently lost their mother and grandmother. Two people they were obviously hugely close to. A recent documentary showed how tough they were finding living with the grief.

Now he's decided to make them watch their old man get battered for money he doesn't need?

Or give him purpose, an identity and be a hero to his kids?

We are talking about Rio Ferdinand. 500 odd Premier League appearances, 81 international appearances, 6 time Premier League winner and Champions League winner here.

He's not some no-mark like Leon McKenzie. He's doing this purely for monetary gain, I just can't see why his kids need to see him battered for big cheque at a time like this. Doesn't seem necessary.

I don't think you know much about boxing mate - no reason he'll get injured - he's a sportsman with good hand to eye and a level of fitness who's been grieving and depressed after ending his career and losing his wife in tragic circumstances - boxing will be cathartic, the training will give him routine, confidence, improve his mental health and provide new challenge - its not like he'll go in against Klitschko - its more like in the current climate he'll go in against a couple of no marks (or a seasoned retired 45 year old ex pro from a similar weight category) and earn 20 million quid on PPV.

Good luck to him.

Bizzare isn't it?  I can understand a sportsman wanting the competition and the drive etc but this is a sport where you can get seriously hurt, I'm on a boxing forum where quite a few ex pros and trainers post and not a single one of them believe he should be granted a license at this age with no amatuer experience whatsoever.

Like you say, putting his kids through this doesn't seem sensible, the reason Flintoff gave (assuming he wasn't lying as he was crap) for not pursuing was exactly that, he couldn't do it to his children.

Well it all depends on the weigh he chooses. If he goes in at cruiserweight (roughly the weight he played football at) then I think he'll be fine. Won't stop him taking several big hits. It is boxing, there is every chance he'll get injured. Not sure what you mean there?

If he goes in as a heavyweight then one big hit could well see him on his back. Not the sort of thing his kids need, is it?

Of course he's not going to be fighting a top professional, but he will be fighting 'a' professional. Someone who is handy enough around the ring to give him a good test and all I'm saying is that if I were in his shoes, I'd stay well away. He's kept himself fit and is in excellent shape anyway. He's already been doing that since his retirement because it keeps his mind off of things.

It's a bit of joke all round really!

Not really, people taking it all a bit seriously really, it'll give him something to do for abit and assuming he sticks within his capabilities he may enjoy it. It's not like he's going to box at any level.

As with anything like this it shouldn't really be a talking point for anyone actually interested in the sport, but because he's famous it becomes a talking point.

I could have a successful career as a professional boxer if you found me enough ringers to knock out.

He's not going to get clobbered by anyone decent and his career will last less than ten fights.

He'll wind up with a record like SBW, seven fights, seven wins, three by KO. Granted Sonny Bill is a lot bigger, meaner and younger than Rio but it's irrelevant. The level of opposition is all that matters.
