Ricey Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Sent home early from work due to it kicking off in Hackney. It's scary stuff to watch, especially when you are watching the police helicopters with torchlights out of your own flat window.
Maybes Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Apparently there are riots starting in Highfields. Good. It could do with a bit of re-decoration.

Thankfully I'm only being affected by an inability to buy dinner at the moment!
Zingari Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 I bet the rest of the world's Olympic athletes are looking forward to coming here after this .
marko Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Anyone watching the rolling BBC News channel? That fire in Croydon was terrible. It looked like it had spread to a number of residential properties.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 People are crazy. That must be a full card of dry-roasted peanuts hanging there untouched!
Ricey Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Glad you're alright mate! Thankfully I'm only being affected by an inability to buy dinner at the moment! You too pal. Luckily I live on a leafy hill in Barnet, naff all to loot up here. Where you living at the minute?
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Croydon. Always been the biggest hole for me. Those fires there look to be the worse scenes.
Alexikokopops Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 You too pal. Luckily I live on a leafy hill in Barnet, naff all to loot up here. Where you living at the minute? At the Holloway end of Islington. There's been some kicking off in Angel but nothing major. It wouldn't surprise me if something kicked off in Holloway (there was a bit last night) but nothing so far FINGERS CROSSED. All the shops are closed and shuttered up though.
Daggers Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Where have all good men gone And where are all the gods? Where's the street-wise Hercules To fight the rising odds? Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed? Late at night I toss and turn and dream of what I need I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero until the end of the night He's gotta be strong And he's gotta be fast And he's gotta be fresh from the fight I need a hero I'm holding out for a hero until the morning light He's gotta be sure And it's gotta be soon And he's gotta be larger than life
MC Prussian Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 So they closed youth clubs down? And there's no alternative than to abuse a protest march to nick cheap trainers and stuff? I wish I could understand only half of what these people are saying. If only they had the active urge to go and read a smart book - heck, any book - instead for once. Or try first steps in lyricism. But heyho, it's so easy to let it slide on the streets, burnin' stuff 'n lootin' stuff.
Webbo Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 I bet the rest of the world's Olympic athletes are looking forward to coming here after this . It'll be the first Olympics where the crowd fail the drug test.

Corky Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 "You told me it was my brick. But it could be four other people's brick. DNA results special".
MikeyT Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 PCSOSJohnson PCSO Simon Johnson lots of rumour circulating on twitter #leicester that arent true. Please do not feed this frenzie.
Stevosevic Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 People saying this is a protest against the government? Behave please, the people doing this don't have a clue about government policies, it is mindless vandalism by thugs.
Drift Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Yeah, seems to be people just making stuff up about Leicester on Twitter. Pretty stupid.
Zingari Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 isn't it time it was upgraded from a "disturbance" to something like a "bit of a to do" ?
Daggers Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 ... and Nick Clegg is in town." Slightly less impressive than when Santa is.
Nocturnal Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 There's only one way to deal with these people. RELEASE THE KRAKEN!
MikeyT Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Sundip Sundip Meghani Driving around central Leicester to see for myself. No issues & no visible disturbances in town centre / Granby Street. Checking
