Why run in that direction? have seen numerous away goals in that end before but it's instinctive to taught the home supporters in the Kop if you want a reaction, if you were there as you claim to be you'll remember he scored from the right and actually had to change direction to turn back to the West stand instead of celebrating in front of the East stand and running down to the away supporters which is what normally happens!...very strange!

Which goal are you on about?

The first one was at the Family Stand end and he ran over to the away fans.

The second one was at the Kop End and he wheeled away in the direction he was running when he shot, which was towards the corner of the Kop/West Stand. He was no where near the away fans.

Anyway players generally couldn't care less about the fans, I doubt he cares about the Bristol City fans and I doubt he gives a shit what we think either. I'm sure the 2 fingers was a double entendre but if he signs for us he can always claim it was a bit of banter, and tbh it is. It's not like we're gonna boo him for that if he scores 20 for us.

If he wanted to make a real point to the fans he would have changed direction and ran up Adebayor style to the Kop which is pretty much full , not just carried on going right and gestured to a half empty stand.

The truth is he probably hasn't been interested in coming to us and would rather go to a prem team, but if none are interested and Bristol accept our bid, and we offer him 25K a week, he isn't going to just say 'no thanks I hate Leicester fans I'm gonna stay at Bristol for a nice relegation battle' is he?

I was in the corner of the West Stand too. He did nothing out of the ordinary, pretty sure he pointed to the sky and then got mobbed by his team mates.

Did anyone mention about Maynard getting a City shirt at the end of the game the other week? Maybe he took it home, tried it on and likes the look of it on him...

I've got nothing informative to add to the speculation but I'll put my view in on this if I may. Cheers.

When he scored both goals his celebrations were somewhat "muted".

Check out the OTIB forum and someone has a picture of

his celebration or should I say another players celebration beside him. The other bloke is clearly celebrating while Maynard is looking towards the ground.

Probably nothing in it, but what the hell it all adds to the

nonsense people have taken the time to write on here.

That is all.

Your right mate, I no he ran over to the west stand, but he seemed pissed off. He just stood there And there other players kept grabbing him. Don't no but it seemed weird,

Just to add i watched him at the end and he was chatting to CIty players and he looked like he was dying to put that City shirt on which he'd got.

Somebody on the Bristol forum said they heard on the local radio that Norwich have bid 6mil for him. :dunno:

Well if they get him we've only got our selves to blame, with taking to long

Well, if true, that means we could bid for Simeon Jackson or Grant Holt - I can't see Norwich keeping all their strikers (they're hardly 'flush' with money - £6m will make a big hole in their budget - they'll have to sell, especially after laying out for Morison). I'd be happy with Jackson or Holt (we were linked with him a couple of weeks ago) - though I imagine Jackson is more the sort of striker Sven will be after - very similar to Maynard / Cox / Ebanks-Blake / Long / McKail-Smith etc !

I can't see Norwich wanting / needing Maynard. They've got Morison, Vaughan, Holt and Jackson; all of whom play and score regularly. They also won't have a lot of money left, after spending a fair bit already this summer.

As a club they are richer than us at the moment.

We have rich owners is the difference unless they pull the plug.

They've got James Vaughan as well.

I think still pictures can be quite deceptive, would love him to sign but I just think this whole saga of finding a striker should have been sorted a long time ago. Its great "strengthening" your defence and midfield but at the end of the day it's goals than win games

*Sees that there's been 5 more pages added to this thread since last night* :

*Get's excited that there might be some proper news*

*Reads thread and sees that we've resorted to analysing Maynard's goal celebrations and general body language from over a week ago*

*leaves thread*

I seem to remember alot of hierry Henrys goal celebrations were(are) angry, does that mean he hates playing for every club he has been at, or does he just hate football and life.

I think he just needs a hug

EDIT: Damn!! I've just contributed to the Maynard thread, sorry :(
