were fooking crap at the minute, he wont come here - although heres hoping he does. Didnt think he played that well tonight, looked a bit lazy but still scored two and missed a penalty, so Sven please sign him up

£6Mil should be put in soon I would expect.

Confirmed Svens ideas and Imo worth it

The situation hasn't changed much, just given Nicky an idea of what he could be involved in

Please heat up

Midtable obscurity at this rate

I think that his gloating to the fans, particularly after his second, would suggest he isn't interested in a move here anyway. Time to move on in my opinion...

Different class tonight, can't excuse their fans revelling in our demise.

Him coming here now seems less and less likely, but £50 million might make them wonder...

If Carroll is worth £35m then £6m for Maynard was a snip... It was our obsession with his 1 yr deal that made us not pay it. Thats ILL thought out. He would be ours and his previous contract 5 yr or 1 yr would be meaningless. I dont think the Brizzol fans are so stupid now saying he is worth £6m, seems a very sound investment.

That's bang on,he would never have come over to the touchline and celebrated like he did if he had any intention of playing for us...we have to look elsewhere!

I think it's safe to say we can close the Maynard chapter (for various reasons, including the two tonight).

And a message to all: For the sake of it, don't start another one.

Update from BCFC

Leicester City still want Nicky Maynard - Keith Millen

Bristol City manager Keith Millen says Leicester City are still interested in signing summer target Nicky Maynard.

Millen's side beat the Foxes 2-1 on Wednesday, with Maynard scoring twice.

Leicester manager Sven-Goran Eriksson told BBC Sport after the game: "Bristol want to keep him so I don't think it's going to happen, unfortunately."

But Millen told BBC Radio Bristol: "We spoke to Leicester and they are keen but our stance is the same - no-one has come in with an offer we can accept."

He added: "You can see his focus is scoring goals and I hope he stays with us."

Striker Maynard has a year left to run on his contract at Ashton Gate and rumours have been rife all summer that he is set to exit the club.

Bristol City rejected an offer from Leicester in June and it is thought Nottingham Forest and Southampton were also interested in the forward, who has notched 41 goals in 106 appearances for the Robins.

After Wednesday's result, Bristol City's first win of the new campaign, Maynard said scoring against a club who are trying to court him did not faze him.

"It's not ironic in my view," he told BBC Points West. "At the end of the day I'm a Bristol City player and whoever I'm playing against, I'm always going to give my all and try and score goals.

"We've had back-to-back defeats and not looked like we were going to do well. Wednesday night showed that we are capable of mixing it with the big boys."

If Nicky is about to leave, he wont step out to play Swindon (as he'd be cup tied for later rounds of the Carling Cup). If he plays, he's going nowhere

We haven't signed him, there was a false rumour on Twitter that someone on Bentleys Roof has admitted to.

Close the thread again! Quick!
