Donut Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 As i said in the derby post match thread, i was critical of the side after Middlesboro and i believe with justification. However What i saw today was the platform for a side that could challenge, purely because i believe this midfield 4, combined with a Nugent, Beckford front 2 partnership carries the threat going forward that we can go away from home and score goals. From what ive seen this season Danns brings much more going forward than Wellens, i think all 3 complimented King well who had a very good game today, Fernandes at the base gives the protection to the back four who are looking stronger, so i think this aspect is very positive. Today was the first game i saw CUTTING EDGE. it was very welcome
The Sven Revolution Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 No one seems forthcoming Thats great actually, we need some of those moaners to convert and actually back this team and this management. This performance showed them why they should seriously convert now before its too late.....hopefully we'd be in the PL then!! I know its too soon to say that, but one has to be optimistic after a win like this!
Father Ted Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 I call Furious Fox to comment on the 'Derby rudeboys' and brap chants.
funkyrobot Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 Mugs... That's all. What about cups? Or maybe tankards?
purpleronnie Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 Depends what you mean by doubters, some on here thought we'd run away with the league, I didn't, do I count?
accessory Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 One game, one decent result. Still outside the top 6. The number of empty seats tonight can't all be blamed on premium prices and live Sky coverage. Many fans have yet to be convinced about this team.
ealingfox Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 Don't want to get too carried away but we were very good today.
Fox92 Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 I have been casting a doubt for abit, I admit it. I thought we we were not that good against Brighton but I am pleased we picked up two good results against Cardiff and Middlesbrough. The team is coming together now, I have been impressed with Mills and Konchesky in the last couple of games. Today, we were fantastic. If we play like that every game, we have the ability to beat Birmingham City, West Ham United and in my opinion, we looked like genuine title contenders today. Fernandes and King were so much better, in fact, I can't remember King playing that well since he has played for the first team. Fantastic! And the person that said King was rubbish on the radio... We all have our opinions, and I have critisized King so much, but he was excellent and the whole team was sensational. Remember, we were playing a team who were second, and they haven't just got in that position with luck. I am so happy with todays result, and I don't think I am overreacting. I have always wanted to go to Birmingham City away, and our performance today makes me want to go even more. I just wish the International break wasn't coming up, and we could have carried our momentum into St. Andrews. Anyhow, FANTASTIC LEICESTER "E I E I E I O", etc

Many fans have yet to be convinced about this team. How many unbeaten are we? How many top teams have we beaten during this run? How many goals have we conceded in the last 3 games? You are a complete ****ing **** if you think that this was a one off. If you're wrong say you're wrong but dont post stupid ****ing things like that.
Babylon Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 Why call them out? I understand they were just saying what they saw on the pitch at that time. The only thing you could say is that they perhaps were a bit quick off the mark with their criticism, and maybe underplayed the "team needing time to get used to each other" part. But, it's just one game and we won't find out who was right until the end of the season, if at all. As circumstances will no doubt throw up arguments for and against over the season. Of course there are certain people who will whine no matter what just to wind others up... We all know who they are though. Anyway great game, still plenty to work on but as I have said all you can ask is that we keep improving all over the pitch. I still feel great even though I have the virus from hell. Apologies if the lanky tanned bloke looked like he might vomit on you.

Babylon Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 Stop being such a diplomate/devils advocate! Sorry, hang the miserable bastards!!!! Have some of that and shove it where the sun don't shine!!!!! That's what I'm saying inside ;-)

That's what I'm saying inside ;-) That's better, let it out... You've dealt with the dross and spent many a night battling to offset their weird and twisted 'logic'. So, enjoy your day in the sun and defend the indefensible no more. (at least for one night).
He's not bald Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 Makes me laugh.. All the "doom and gloom" posters have gone into hiding. Now have been replaced by the"world beaters" gang who were reminding us all 24 hours ago that we are only 10 games in and should not make any knee jerk judgements!
Tielemans63 Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 What people want (or at least I do) is a little bit of balance. The win today doesn't make us the best side in the division but neither were we as bad as many made out after only drawing with Barnsley. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise that an entire new side will take time to gel. Don't give me all that 'but they cost millions it shouldn't matter' bollocks. You can't buy chemistry but we are starting to click.

The only thing you could say is that they perhaps were a bit quick off the mark with their criticism, and maybe underplayed the "team needing time to get used to each other" part. So suddenly, since Wednesday's trip to Middlesbrough our considerably changed team has suddenly gelled! Come on Babs. Get real. What happened today was that perhaps unavoidable changes steered us towards picking a team where everyone seemed comfortable with what they were doing and everyone tried to play the ball quickly. Even Millsy tried to pass the ball simple at times and I had to laugh when blokes like Danns passed it back, forcing him to whack it anyway! . Everyone looked happy and positive out there - even the subs were attacking subs and Howard looked absolutely thrilled to be playing again. I just loved his gesture of disappointment with that jinking shuffle through their defence and attempt to lift the ball over their keeper. Boy would he have loved that goal and that seemed to be the mood of the whole team today.

Boy would he have loved that goal and that seemed to be the mood of the whole team today. Sorry where did I say it has just clicked this game? I have said many times that I have seen small improvements in almost every game since the two losses early on in the season and that trend continues. If you want to claim that you're right, you've always been right, and had they adopted your tactics earlier we'd be top then go ahead. Others could easily claim that them calling for patience has born fruit with the team now understanding one another better. Maybe we had always been trying to play like this, and that because they players weren't confident in each other yet it stopped us playing that way. Can you prove that theory wrong? Just as you can't say for certain that had the injured players played we'd actually have won 6-0. Similarly we could have lost 4-0 with them playing. You don't know, so your I'm right I've always been right nonsense is as rubbish as anyone elses I was right claims.

No - the number of empty seats is probably due to people not wanting to sit near miserable moaning tossers.
MC Prussian Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Today the eternal moaners got found out. Secretly, they got their own Sven Doll in the closet, but tend to hide it whenever we play well. Basically, they just pretend being upset or on the opposing side. Oh well, not saying that I've seen this coming but it does give me tremendous satisfaction.
Guest MattP Posted 2 October 2011 Posted 2 October 2011 Astounding thread considering we are 8th. Great stuff today though, played extremely well, Nugent looks more important to us than any other player.
