Sven sacked?

This pisses me off no end.

New manager, new players, new inconsistencies, new ways of conceding in the last minute, new frustrations, new failures of dealing with pressure..... Same old shit, and I'm getting severely fed up with it.

Well, the plan is to appoint someone better, I should hope.

Cue 'there's no one better than Sven'

There is no one better who'd come to this sad little club.

**** it i'm so upset.

The only way this will ever be ok is if Martin is coming back, but why the hell would he?

Foreign owners ruin football.

Then in steps Martin O'Neill aka God to rescue us all from the dross we have had to endure for years.

I worked last night and had a little kip from about 5.00 this afternoon. Just woken up and thought I'd check out FT before switching off my computer.

FFS!!!! The world's gone mad.

To me this is a worrying sign for LCFC.

I'm reading into this that it is an absolute must that we get to the Premier League this season.

I'm even more worried for our club now, should we not achieve promotion.

Jesus Christ, pull yourself together!

A manager who was doing his poor job has gone. It's happened before and it will happen again.

Things have been worse than this for god's sake, we still have a very good squad and 7 months of the season left. It's still a very attractive job.

People seem to be forgetting that Sven hasn't had 13 games, he's had 49. It's not knee-jerk and I don't see why anyone would see it like that.

I have to say boys that if nothing else this takes some of the spotlight off the Tricky Trees. Let's be honest though everyone who knows anything about football knew this was going to happen. The worry for you now has to be that your owners just keep switching managers until they get tired of it and leave you high and dry.

It'll be interesting to see your next home attendance - they've been poor lately, do you think they'll improve?

Forest v Middlesbrough Attendance: 20,630

City v Millwall Attendance: 21,991

Contract cancelled "by mutual consent". crylaugh.gif

As if.

They both mutually agreed that if they hand him a large wedge he'll leave for someone else to come in.

I'd have Billy Davies, knows this league inside out.

Did anyone else just see the interview with Derek Fazackerley on Sky Sports News? think the bloke was spot on

He's had more support on here after being sacked than when he was here.

My view was that many fans remained unconvinced that Sven was the right man for the job and that the jury was very much out.

Sven signed his own death warrant by his admission that we weren't good enough against Millwall compounded by poor team selection in not shuffling the pack and playing Johnson who should have been rested. The midfield did not work with slow and ponderous play. He also should have had Schlupp and Howard on the bench.

He made too many mistakes with the personnel available.

What an utterly terrible, short-sighted decision.

Many of these points have been made elsewhere, but I am fuming at this.

Sven brought most of these players in. Ok, they haven't gelled as a unit yet, but by and large we are agreed that they are players easily good enough to get us up. They did not sign to wear a fox on their chest; they signed for a shit load of money and a chance to play for one of the most highly respected managers in the world.

It is clear that the issue was not the players we'd got in but how they were fitting together as a team. Sven's biggest mistake was not getting in a proper first team coach after Hamann's departure. This placed a lot of pressure on Sven and Faz to deliver the coaching side; something which is certainly not Sven's strong point. Arguably Sven should have jettisoned Fazackerly to save himself, because it's clear that the match preparation was lacking.

The players themselves also need to take a long, hard, look at themselves. They have not performed to the standards they have achieved in the past, and ultimately they are largely responsible for costing a man his job.

As for the Thais, they've shown that they have no idea what they are doing. We are 2 points off the play-offs, it's not like the promotion dream is dead or dying. I was as disappointed as anyone else on Saturday, having travelled a total of 400 miles to watch 2 crap games of football in a week. But Sven has proven himself as a class-act, and has taken 78 points from 48 games as manager despite rarely having the opportunity to have a stable squad.

It's their money, but it's our club. Once again, we're the laughing stock of the division.

I've always admired Sven's quiet dignity and calm manner. It may be 20 years until we get another manager to come through our revolving door with a CV as glittering as his, but it will be a lot longer than that before we get a greater gentleman.

Sven, it's been a pleasure.

Average job... his record since he was here is playoff form give or take a point.

Why what was said?

Curbishley??

Why has he not had a job for so long? You have to wonder about these people, as much as he was a really good manager (he's high up on my list).

David O'Leary's another who seems to have been blacklisted. Did brilliantly at Leeds and well, apart from one poor season, at Villa.

I'm surprised I must say...

And I hold my hands up and say that I got this completely wrong.. I genuinely thought Sven and the Thais were in bed together, so to speak, and that he'd be given until at least Christmas if not till the end if the season

I'm sorry for Sven, the man, who sounded absolutely gutted earlier on the radio.

But I'm not sorry for LCFC... As I thought we could do better.

To say that this heralds the end of any promotion push is nonsense.. The key is now to get the right man in.. And I abso fookin lutely do not want Roy Keane!

If MON is in the reckoning I'd be mixed in my views... On the one hand I'd love it! But on the other I'd be concerned that he might not do as well as last time, which would spoil my memory of him..

Ho hum.....

so do you think o'neill would want to come . I would be gutted if he did and they sacked him if he didnt get the results . maybe he should stay away and keep his legendary status intact

I'm sure curbs had some sort of contract wrangle or court case regarding his sacking that kept him out for a while.

Well play-off form isn't good enough considering we are aiming for the top 2.

Plus, we've got worse since February, when he was doing a decent job. Now he's doing quite a bit worse, staistically but mainly performance-wise.

Of course it was. They said "here's cheque piss off" and Sven agreed.

Or sven you can leave by mutual consent and get half your contract.

Or get paid in full and have sacked again on your cv.

I am pissed they should have gave him till the end of nov IMO.

Hope they have thought about this and got it sorted and not just knee jerk.

2 or 3 weeks for the new man could be too long.

And the ex spanish scouse would be so wrong IMO also.
