Sven sacked?

My thoughts...

Sven wasn't right for us. He didn't correct his errors from last season. He is tactically naive. If we'd have gone up, it would have been in spite of Sven, not because of him.

However, the timing is horribly wrong and the board have gone down in my estimation. Despite my thoughts above, we are 5 points off 2nd and that isn't grounds for the sack. He deserved longer and he deserved better.

So much hinges now on who the owners hire. If we hire another high-profile name with little managerial pedigree or a big name manager who hasn't been successful for years, it'll be clear the owners are only interested in boosting the name of King Power and other Thai companies. If we hire a proven failure at this level i.e. Billy Davies, Dave Jones, Roy Keane, Iain Dowie etc they'll be uproar amongst the fans.

In what way is Billy Davies a failure? every championship club he has had has at LEAST reached the playoffs

Not searching through the posts.

But someone said MoN has had 3 meetings over the last 5 weeks with the owners.

I have always seen MoN as an honourable man so i see little truth in this.

Unless they have asked him for advise.

Official Club Statement

Posted on: Mon 24 Oct 2011

Leicester City Football Club has confirmed today (Monday 24 October) that, by mutual agreement, Sven-Göran Eriksson has ceased to be the First Team Manager, with immediate effect.

First Team Coach Derek Fazackerley has also left the Club.

The Club and its Board of Directors would like to thank Sven and Derek for the contribution they have made to Leicester City during their 13 months at King Power Stadium.

Academy Director Jon Rudkin and Coach Mike Stowell will jointly assume the role of acting Manager of the first team, with assistance from Development Coach Steve Beaglehole. This will begin with training on Tuesday morning ahead of Saturday's npower Championship trip to West Ham United.

The process of recruiting a new permanent Manager will begin in the coming days. There will be no further comments from the Club or any comment on the recruitment process until an appointment is made.

I'm slightly concerned who is going to be advising the Thais on football matters here on in, recruitment wise.

Totally agree. I hope they don't go for a crappy "big name" like Rafa Benitez or someone like that. Lee Clark for me too or Darren Ferguson wouldn't be the worst in the world although he seems only to do it at Peterboro...

I'm so upset I feel forced to comment

Irrelevant of if you have yet to be convinced by Sven or not, anybody who believes this is the best decision for our club knows very little about football.

I, like many, have been very impressed with the new owners and their apparent knowledge of the English game and what is required to build a successful side but they have badly let themselves down. Maybe I'm too patient as I thought the sacking of Holloway at the time was the wrong decision, my belief being that if you give a good manager a reasonable amount of time, they will build a successful team.

We now have to appoint a new man and give him time to put his stamp on it. Another season gone? maybe not but whoever gets the job now has to hit the ground running or pass the baton on to someone who can.

After 30 years of following the Foxes, I'm starting to wonder if I should let Saturdays result dictate my mood for the next 5 days any more. Trouble is, I don't think I have a choice.

:crylaugh: at the overreaction by some on here. Sven is all talk, how do you think he gets the big money jobs but doesnt produce the goods? How do you think he gets all the ladies? Hes a bullshitter and definitely not the man for the job.

Unlike some tonight, I will carry on with my life as normal instead of crying like a little baby over the loss of Sven.

Good riddance to shit.

I just so so desperately hope we don't experience another Micky Adams/Craig Levein-like substitution. That'll leave a few of us wishing we hadn't got rid in the first place :P

In a way it's a relief that we won't have to deal with the 'will he, won't he' and avoided a season-long drag of 'Sven is clueless' discussions. I'm upset it didn't work out for him here. He seemed like a sound guy who genuinely wanted to succeed with us, but I can understand the board's decision even if I think it was slightly premature.

What do these guys think they're doing? They want someone with more Championship experience? But managers with Championship experience have Championship experience because they're not good enough to manage at a higher level and don't have the contacts and reputation gained at a higher level.

Championship experience? Championship experience my arse!

Sums up my sentiments perfectly. This is an awful decision and after the Sousa debacle today is a dark day in the club's history - we've sacked a top class manager with 3/4 of the season to play and in an "ok" position. What kind of precedent does this set? It seems some of our younger fans' impatience has reached the club's owners. This season could very easily unravel even more judging by today's actions. For all those "fans" who couldn't wait to see the back of Sven, now what?

Exactly how I feel. Pissed off starting every saturday evening feeling miserable cos we've screwed up again. I was gonna give it a miss on saturday and take the metal detector out - in fact, I still will. Wasted enough of my life listening to Foxes Player waiting for good news. It hardly ever happens.

If it's on twitter, it's almost certainly bullshit. Didn't you learn from the Maynard saga??

What? :crylaugh: Sven sacked my arse

lol.

If Sven was "all talk" like you claim, how come he's been in football management for so long?

Seriously, sometimes you come up with so much sh*t, I wonder where you get your supplies from.

I don't really know what to say. On Saturday I was thinking the callers saying he should go were complete idiots but now I really don't know what to think. It really depends on who the replacement is, anyone other than MON, Hughes, Ancelotti or Benitez (or maybe a young manager from left-field) and I think I'd be disappointed, and what are the chances of any of them coming?

So confused.

So the sacking of our manager's continues. This club has now become a bloody shambles. No time for them to build, no patience, no faith. TOP, you are a back stabbing bastard! F--k off out of it, and go back to Thailand! You're not fit to lick Sven's boots. TRAITOR!

I do hope you won't be complaining about our next choice of manager.

Well, the plan is to appoint someone better, I should hope.

Cue 'there's no one better than Sven'

He's had more support on here after being sacked than when he was here.

I think I've gone the other way a bit to be honest. Before today I would have called you an idiot for suggesting he should go. Now I'm a bit more on the fence but just desperate for a decent replacement.

I have to say boys that if nothing else this takes some of the spotlight off the Tricky Trees. Let's be honest though everyone who knows anything about football knew this was going to happen. The worry for you now has to be that your owners just keep switching managers until they get tired of it and leave you high and dry.

It'll be interesting to see your next home attendance - they've been poor lately, do you think they'll improve?

No, ticket prices take the piss, and a number of people on here have already said they're giving up.
