Ricey Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 In what way is Billy Davies a failure? every championship club he has had has at LEAST reached the playoffs He failed to achieve what he was instructed to do, promotion. I'm not saying he's a bad manager but he failed to get Forest up so why replace Sven with him?
Babylon Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Well you can nitpick if you like, play-off form isn't good enough considering we are aiming for the top 2. We weren't aiming for top two when he arrived last year, this year we were and are 5 points off it with 33 games to go. It was an average job, not a poor or bad job... that's not nitpicking, it's balance.
Tom17LCFC Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Forest v Middlesbrough Attendance: 20,630 City v Millwall Attendance: 21,991 Forest were offering £3 tickets to students as well
Corky Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Sven didn't do a poor job, he wasn't a disaster, just didn't quite have enough when it really mattered.
wellyfox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Top OUT! On a serious note, I think top has made a terrible mistake. Mistake praps Top out is not funny. They have put there wallet where there mouth is and stated what they wanted. So mistake remains to be seen. lets just wait for the next move and see.
EnderbyFox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 What an utterly terrible, short-sighted decision. Many of these points have been made elsewhere, but I am fuming at this. Sven brought most of these players in. Ok, they haven't gelled as a unit yet, but by and large we are agreed that they are players easily good enough to get us up. They did not sign to wear a fox on their chest; they signed for a shit load of money and a chance to play for one of the most highly respected managers in the world. It is clear that the issue was not the players we'd got in but how they were fitting together as a team. Sven's biggest mistake was not getting in a proper first team coach after Hamann's departure. This placed a lot of pressure on Sven and Faz to deliver the coaching side; something which is certainly not Sven's strong point. Arguably Sven should have jettisoned Fazackerly to save himself, because it's clear that the match preparation was lacking. The players themselves also need to take a long, hard, look at themselves. They have not performed to the standards they have achieved in the past, and ultimately they are largely responsible for costing a man his job. As for the Thais, they've shown that they have no idea what they are doing. We are 2 points off the play-offs, it's not like the promotion dream is dead or dying. I was as disappointed as anyone else on Saturday, having travelled a total of 400 miles to watch 2 crap games of football in a week. But Sven has proven himself as a class-act, and has taken 78 points from 48 games as manager despite rarely having the opportunity to have a stable squad. It's their money, but it's our club. Once again, we're the laughing stock of the division. I've always admired Sven's quiet dignity and calm manner. It may be 20 years until we get another manager to come through our revolving door with a CV as glittering as his, but it will be a lot longer than that before we get a greater gentleman. Sven, it's been a pleasure. Sums up my thoughts exactly.
Corky Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Kasper to Blackburn in jan anyone? Why Blackburn?
ealingfox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Kasper to Blackburn in jan anyone? Robinson in return would soften the blow

Fair enough, but I'm also saying that whilst he was doing a decent job at one point last season, which is quite important to your first statistic, by now, he's not doing a a good one, looking at our performances more than anything, considering our expectations.
21st Century Fox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Kasper to Blackburn in jan anyone? I was thinking the same thing!
wellyfox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Why Blackburn? Early rumours on here said sven would turn up there
Legend_in_blue Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 The reason he has gone, players aside, is that he only ever had one style of play. One system. When it didn't work, there was never an alternative. It was just a case of switch this player with that and hope that was good enough. Considering Sven's pedigree in the world of football, that isn't good enough. You could class it as poor. Tactically inept for a manager of his stature in the game. Harsh, but true.
Guest ttfn Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Are you Venky's? Are you Venky's? Are you Venky's in disguise?
Guest MattP Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Wasn't a poor job, average at best though and this season so far has been terrible in terms of preparation. My biggest surprise regarding Sven was how tactically inept he was given his history in the game. Big big decision now Top. The world is watching this.
Guest shearfox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 The good thing about our owners is, they are quiet and allow the manager to get on with the job. Sven didn't have players forced on him and was free to sign the players he wanted. Martin O'Neill doesnt like owners interfering with on field events and our owners certainly don't do that.
zigga-zagga Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Forest v Middlesbrough Attendance: 20,630 City v Millwall Attendance: 21,991 Forest played on a cold Tuesday night, City v Millwall was on a bright warm Saturday afternoon. City would have gone into the play offs if they'd won, the best Forest could hope for was to get out of the relegation zone.
wurmer Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Jesus Christ, pull yourself together! A manager who was doing his poor job has gone. It's happened before and it will happen again. Things have been worse than this for god's sake, we still have a very good squad and 7 months of the season left. It's still a very attractive job. People seem to be forgetting that Sven hasn't had 13 games, he's had 49. It's not knee-jerk and I don't see why anyone would see it like that. THIS

We could always go back to last season though, with you for the most part challenging for the top 6 and often the top 2, and us in midtable, we still had a higher average home attendance. I thought you were massive?

Not being someone who wanted him gone yet. But i have to agree and his England career was the same. Like for like swap if not working no real plan b. And if you think about it if our first choice right back is being skinned why should our second be any better. Oh well new start new era all we can do is get behind the new man. All the sven haters best be ready to give him time. He's gotta come in meet the staff. Work out his best 11. work out the weaknesses and short falls in the squad. has 2 months to wait if he's gonna buy the players he wants. Praps unload King and Wellins (just to wind a few up on here). Waggy may come back and he will loan nuge to the hammers. Sven will come in for all his old man city boys. So by the end of jan we will have 1 old boy return. 8 others sold and 12 new players in and spent another 30mill. So all the other moaners can come in moaning where the money is coming from and we will go bust before may. Get religated go into admin 15pts deducted nxt season. then find some tranfer wrong doing 30 more pts deducted and a transfer embargo. Just the average season for a foxes fan then :scarf: Alls good on this monday night then :crylaugh:
dannythefox Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 Anyone know what Faz said in his interview? They've got people in place and things are in hand

I thought you were massive? Ticket prices are one reason, but the sacking of Sven coupled with the bad results as of recent will add to the decline in attendances even more. The recent development won't go down well with a lot of Leicester fans. Soon the average will hit the 18'000 mark and the Thais as well as their consortium buddies will be out quicker than you can say Theo Zagorakis.

Bert Posted 24 October 2011 Posted 24 October 2011 I know it's bad that he's gone, we've got to move on now. Starting by fully supporting the lads on Saturday, the game was going to be hard enough as it is. We'll never know whether this was the right move unless we gain promotion. The men backing our club feel this is the right move for them and the club. Maybe, just maybe we might start playing football and being consistent, we've got the squad to do so.
