Mark Hughes

Hughes was a failure at Man City...... You don't get rid of Sven to get a worse manager. But he maybe fits the championship manager role.

Agree but the championship manager role? he's never played in the league or been a manager in it :dunno:

They were 6th when he was sacked.

Hardly failing.

Never knew that, great point... What a C word.

Although if he could get Tevez on loan till the summer ;)

Closer to argentina than manchester we are.

Although we could only play him when attacking the kop.

Too old, too Scottish, no Championship experience & a right miserable fooker!!

Is there a set limit of Scottishness for a manager then?

One thing is for sure, out of all the options available, there is no perfect manager for us, all mentioned some negatives, i'm sure if Sir Alex was availbale there would be fans on her looking into the negatives rather then the posives!!!

Exceptional circumstances at Man City at the time and I really don't think his tenure could be classed as a failure. And he brought some top quality players in (some of who still figure prominently in Mancini's team). And no disrespect but you should be looking at his record at Fulham to actually gauge how he would do at a club like Lcfc - much more of an even comparison.

As you said, he brought some top quality players in and still managed one place lower than Sven with a lot of injuries the second half of the season.

I want a young intelligent manager and Hughes doesn't fit the profile.

Just posted this in the next manager thread.

My mates brother works in the Marriot in Leicester. My mate text me last night saying Mark Hughes was there along with 3 other people(he didn't know who the other 3 were) could he be our next manager?

Believe it, don't believe it but don't shoot the messenger.

This come from the same person who said Darius Vassell was signing for us which paddy agyemang posted on here(same contact).

Are you thinking what i'm thinking.........????? That he had a foursome at the Marriot!!!!!

How did Hughes fail at Man City, he did no worse or better than Sven? Mancini has had far more money to spend than either of them hence being far higher in the league with players like Silva.

Just look how Blackburn have been getting on since him and Allardyce have left. If you judged a manager on such a spell you could argue Clough was a terrible manager.

Sounds like a right Orgy, how come I never heard of this sex club, or this is just the Thias way of recruiting????

They're 1st now.

It was never going to be an overnight transformation, no matter how much money they spent.

6th was a decent return, certainly not a sackable position anyway.

Of course not, well in most peoples eyes. Just playing devils advocate.

Even then though, they still wanted champions league and he wasn't delivering that.

Well, for a start Hughes signed one player for over 30 mill....

Sven had to fill the gaps when he took charge. Hughes had a lot more especially in the january window and finished ten.

Hughes made Elano bad over night. But worst of all if you were a Man City fan is that they lost twice against Manure again, epic failure. :D

Having spent shed loads since Hughes left

We've spent loads and we're not even in the top half of the table. The players have still got to perform, and there are players there now who were there during Hughes reign that are now sitting top of the premier league.

Is your mate a Leeds fan by any chance? That seems to be exactly what was on the Huddersfield site the other day......

Hughes spent a bit, but Spurs also did & pipped them, he was never the man for the Arabs who were biding their time for someone of their choosing to become available. Mancini has had the backing of billions and allowed time for results to improve, remember all the criticism of negative performances he faced, then signing Silva & Aguero & others from the billions available, of course they're first.

It's two completely different, incomparable periods.

I bet Blackburn would kill for 6th place finishes, cup semis & trips to Europe now.

Of course there's a few negatives surrounding him, but there are many more positives, compared to Clark's 3 years of under-achievement given his 'supposed' backing, Hughes could compare favourably.

It is.

I find it staggering that people are turning their noses up at the prospect of Having Mark Hughes as manager and championing the idea of Lee Clark

Sure he could be a good manager in time but he hasn't achieved anything of note yet

Its easy for a struggling club with no real expectations to gamble on an unproven manager but whoever we employ needs to hit the ground running

And Sven's never wasted money on a player in his career? Fergie once spent God knows what on Veron, does that make him a bad manager? There's probably not a manager in the world who hasn't wasted money when they've had a lot to spend.

And as for the Elano point, Hughes turned David Bentley into one of the best Midfielders in the Premier League. Who's to say he couldn't do the same, at Championship level, with Beckford?

No he is not a Leeds fan. Leicester fan :) The Vassell story came from him from Vassell being at the Marriot and he's said Hughes was there so wait and see? :dunno:
