maynefox Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 I suppose as a kid I enjoyed it and my parents mumbled: "American trash" etc......now while im at college I think its crap and about all my classmates do as well! whats really cringeworthy is college aged people doing trick or treating When we've ran out of sweets, we give them the old rotten apples from our garden tree
ajthefox Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 not a massive fan and only ever went trick or treating once, but tonight is the third time in 4 days I'll have got dressed up and got drunk for it so heh, s'all good.
Haydos Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Had ketchup squirted all over our door after we didn't answer - on Saturday night. Idiot students who think they rule the ****ing town It's a horrible, pathetic occasion used by students and teenagers as a way of bullying folks in their own homes. A far cry from Hallowe'ens of old where I'd have a party with apple bobbing, a fancy fress competition and jelly with sour snakes in it. Those were the days... Why can't you still do that? Too busy sitting on here being a grumpy bastard?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 This thread is depressing. Lighten the fvck up. And if you can't do that, don't try and spread your misery to everyone else. You have obviously never had to wash egg off the front of your house just because you were out that night.
Haydos Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 You have obviously never had to wash egg off the front of your house just because you were out that night. Nope, but I've done it myself which is why it'll only be a slight annoyance when it happens to me. People that find excuses to be miserable really get on my wick that's all. Why not embrace it, it's another excuse to let your hair down when most people tend to be in a good mood and looking forward to it. The same can be said about Christmas/Birthdays etc as there's always some grumpy bugger that hates it.

AoWW Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Earlier this evening I was driving back home through a town that's local to me and I saw a group of at least 15 people - who must have been in their late teens / early 20s - all dressed up in Halloween gear, 'trick or treating' around a housing estate the consists mainly of old people's bungalows. Now in my opinion, that's just wrong as the elderly (and many of other ages, too, it has to be said!) would undoubtedly feel intimidated by such a large group.

Awaits grammar correction.
cambridgefox Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 we are quite lucky where we live, most kids only knock on houses that have Halloween decorations on display so no one really gets annoyed.

In my town, the law states that it's limited to children 12 and under and has to finish before 8pm. Which is convenient since that's the time I'm in the pub.

Things are pretty much the same in my neck of the woods CF , and should any of the little blighters overstep the mark we're not against setting the hounds on them . If my memory serves me correctly , you are about 6 foot 6 tall and 17 stone , so i don't expect you need to resort these sort of tactics

If they're all about 20 years old and they're still trick-or-treating, then they really are a bunch of sissies and the elderly have nothing to worry about.
AyewJoking Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Love Halloween. Wish Britain was more into it.
Fox92 Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Opened my front door earlier to a bunch of hyper kids. ''Trick or treat, trick or treat, give us something good to eat; if you don't we don't care, we'll pull down your underwear!'' "slowly put the sweets back in my pocket" :crylaugh: Had ketchup squirted all over our door after we didn't answer - on Saturday night. Idiot students who think they rule the ****ing town No need for that at all. Another reason to dislike Halloween.
nuttytimmy Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Why can't you still do that? Too busy sitting on here being a grumpy bastard? I was seven.

Haydos Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Oh, so basically you're a git then. Basically, yeah 20 year olds going around trick or treating is a bit dickish, both in the 'sad' way and the intimidating old people way. The odd egging is harmless when you're young but I accept there are a few knobends out there that take it too far. Since about the age of 16 though it's always been about having/going to a party, dressing up and getting hammered to the tune of loads of cheesy music. I think it's a laugh.

If my memory serves me correctly , you are about 6 foot 6 tall and 17 stone , so i don't expect you need to resort these sort of tactics They made me tell my Halloween story at work today for some reason they think its amusing. A few years ago some teenage lads came round trick or treating, they hadnt made much of an effort with the gear, but i had loads of sweets as my small children(at the time) liked to dress up indoors and watch kids come to the door and hand out the sweets to them.when my little lad held his bucket of sweets out for the teenagers to take one,one of the lads grabbed the biggest handful he could whilst laughing to his mates .Now im not proud of my parenting skills on this occasion, but i said "not that many, you fooking P***K,now put them back for being a twat" the look on the teenagers faces and more so my kids was a picture. Many times in the year people in the office just randomly shout "not that many you fooking p***k" chuckle and get on with their work. PS 2" off and half a stone on!
ScouseFox Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Just remembered our doorbell doesn't work. Shit. Hope we've not had anyone knocking and getting angry.
Guest Bilo Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 No trick or treaters tonight. Got dressed up as Gary Glitter for nothing.
