lcfcliam Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 I have a bad feeling for some reason? Should it be taking this long? Ian Stringer seems to agree.... StringerSport Ian Stringer Not all's well with Pearson to #lcfc Hull holding out for more money, #lcfc not happy to pay it and no official approach has been approved
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Just sick to death of it now.... FFS just get Billy Davies in, but you get the feeling he'd reject us now. Seems that since we had the glorious spell under O'Neill - we've been paying for it with bad luck ever since.
Happy Fox Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 haha mate you really need to give up on MON!! It was never going to happen! A nice reasoned reply unlike wurmer I respect that we are not going to get MON hopefully we will turn to Billy Davies
SpartakAnj Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 I would be gobsmacked if this deal does not go through. If the deal didn't happen the thought of Jones or Davies is truly terrifying. If not NP then Hughes. But I'm convinced the Pearson deal will go through. We will all look like real mugs if it does not!
Fox 4 Life Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 5m on mills and they are haggling over a few hundred thousand... I get we don't want to be mugged off but seriously if that's true just pay the money!
Yojoe36 Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 The Hull board are just being picky bastards. Fvcking doing my head.
Finchy Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 If the deal didn't happen the thought of Jones or Davies is truly terrifying. The thought of getting a manager that will almost certainly get us to the play offs is terrifying?
Criggers Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Because its the international break Hull can take the piss over the compensation whilst conducting their own search for a manager. They can't lose as they wouldn't currently have a manager anyway. In the mean time we haven't had a manager for two weeks and would really benefit from getting Pearson with the squad as soon as possible. Hull have really got us by the goolies on this one and for all the money they've already wasted over the summer you would think the King Power boys would cave in and get it done. Now it has gone public though we're well and truly ****ed as not only will we have to cough up to get Pearson in but come January every club that has a player we're interested in is going to look back at this (and the joke that was the Maynard saga) and think "Well, if we play hardball we can get more."
Guest ttfn Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 I want to say "Pearson can just resign" but I (and I imagine football managers) have a notice period to serve, should the business wish to enforce it. Hull will never accept Pearson's resignation now; they'd just be throwing money away. If this doesn't get resolved soon they'll just put him on gardening leave. Either way, Pearson won't be manager of Hull much longer.
Babylon Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 And I still don't understand why it took two weeks for our owners to reach the conclusion they wanted Pearson. You don't know what went on. Maybe he/his agent had been approached privately long before we approached Hull officially. Maybe negotiations went back and forth, Pearson decided he was interested and they all decided to wait until the international two week break to conclude everything. People keep saying, he wasn't first choice etc etc. And that the owners wanted a big name. But it's all guess work as I said before. What we do know is that the owners said they want someone with experience of this league and a motivator. Pearson fits the bill perfectly so he may well have been first choice.
STUHILL Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 This is going to happen everyone!!! There is no way Hull will keep Pearson as their manager after him wanting to leave. Hull are obviously bitter and holding out for more money but Leicester are no fools and know they will crumble if they say no to unreasonable demands. I expect it will be announced tomorrow as Hull need to get on with finding their new manager too!!
Fox92 Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Billy Davies is simply a roundabout gets a team to the play offs & get's hammered. The only time he's took a club up was Derby, made them a laughing stock of the premier league 13points off 38 games. Billy Davies is a very good manager, better than other options. Ok he has lost a few times in the play offs but at least he gets there. His teams are usually hard to beat, motivated and organised. And you cannot really talk about Derby seeing as he was sacked, not deserved, and Jewell probably managed more games that season. I would take Billy Davies if Pearson does not happen.
Babylon Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 I have a bad feeling for some reason? Should it be taking this long? Ian Stringer seems to agree.... StringerSport Ian Stringer Not all's well with Pearson to #lcfc Hull holding out for more money, #lcfc not happy to pay it and no official approach has been approved Hull know his position is now untenable. If I was us I would start looking at plan b, Hull will fold if they think we are walking away from it.
accessory Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Dave Jones > Billy Davies. And Mark Hughes > both of them.
wurmer Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 A nice reasoned reply unlike wurmer I respect that we are not going to get MON hopefully we will turn to Billy Davies Shock therapy, sometimes the harsh truth hurts but brings to the senses....
Ric Flair Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 We have Hull over a barrel the longer this goes on. We'll have made Pearson's job untenable so they either let him come to us or they put him on gardening leave, lose £600,000 in comp and pay his wages and Walsh's and Shakey's. Plus put a new manager in place. It'll be sorted soon. Easy.
wurmer Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 5m on mills and they are haggling over a few hundred thousand... I get we don't want to be mugged off but seriously if that's true just pay the money! How do you know it's a few hundred thousand. We know nothing, pure speculation..... Might be millions for all we know...
Babylon Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Dave Jones > Billy Davies. What are you basing that one? Jones is ok but he's failed with money at Wolves and Cardiff. And Mark Hughes And he probably isn't interested. We have Hull over a barrel the longer this goes on. We'll have made Pearson's job untenable so they either let him come to us or they put him on gardening leave, lose £600,000 in comp and pay his wages and Walsh's and Shakey's. Plus put a new manager in place. It'll be sorted soon. Easy. Exactly, they are fecked off and are making things as awkward as possible. Understandably.
Guest Col city fan Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Yeah, I agree. If the deal doesn't happen, he can't really go back and manage Hull, can he? What is their opinion of him now? Deals like this usually take ages to sort out. Especially if the club that the manager wants to leave don't want him to go. They will be being stubborn, we will be being stubborn... That's how it is. It usually gets sorted out in the end after the big boys play their games. Pearson has stated he wanted to talk to us. In this way his r/ship with the Hull board, team and fans will now be compromised. I will be surprised if it don't sort itself out in the end, but it was never gonna be a straightforward appointment
Fox 4 Life Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 How do you know it's a few hundred thousand. We know nothing, pure speculation..... Might be millions for all we know... Where did I say I know it's a few hundred thousand? I'm going from reports from both local papers and the point still stands that we have spent millions on under performing players yet unwilling to pay for a decent manager!

If Top was to call Hull's bluff and just walk away from the deal they would be well and truly knackered as I don't think it would be possible/viable for them to just let Pearson continue now, just imagine their fans thoughts on the issue. Whilst I would be very happy to have NP back, it's business, and if Top has in mind what he thinks is a reasonable amount of compensation that should be paid then he shouldn't and possibly wouldn't be bullied into anything else. After all, NP isn't the only viable option. I have grave doubts personally about Billy Davies i.e. there were allegedly 'other issues' why he got sacked involving money and a burgeoning back room staff made up of family and friends etc. However, I believe both Sparky and Jones are both very good candidates and I wouldn't be disappointed in either one of them.
SpartakAnj Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 The thought of getting a manager that will almost certainly get us to the play offs is terrifying? There is no certainty that they would get us into the play offs. And if they did, it would not mean that we would definitely be promoted. And if we were promoted would you be confident that either of them could keep us up? I am not. I want a manager with a long term strategy, not someone who will "definitely get us in the play offs". Remind me of their respective records in the play offs? And for that matter their records in the Premier League? Granted Jones did a decent job with Southampton but he consistently failed to win promotion with a good squad at Cardiff even though he definitely "got them into the play offs" on more than one occasion. I'm not even going to start on Davies. Why anyone is enthusiastic about the possibly of appointing Davies is beyond me. I don't think he is a long term appointment, he would be a stop gap, a panic appointment. He is also a complete bellend. So yes, I find the idea of either being given the job rather disagreeable and quite terrifying.
SpartakAnj Posted 10 November 2011 Posted 10 November 2011 Dave Jones > Billy Davies. And Mark Hughes > both of them. This.
