Mark Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 We're nothing but a mid table team, the whole midfield needs replacing of we're to stand any chance. Whats happened to King. He's strolling about doing nothing every game, passing backwards the odd time he receives it we need more than what he offers in central midfield.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 It seems to me that most people are basing their opinions on the last 20 mins. We need a striker and a midfielder or two in Jan. Sensible caller on RL shock. "The players lack confidence, we should get behind them and sing their names."
VinceNoir Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 Wow. Radio callers piss me off immensely. Well, at least we have El Clasico to look forward to.
Finnegan Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 It's time for our fans to wake up and accept that Richie Wellens is a journeyman Championship midfielder and not a creative match winner. It's for our fans to wake up and accept that Andy King is a deep lying forward with a fantastic goal scoring record but not a creative match winner. Some of our players it's like sacrilege to put down sometimes. I'm not a "hater," I'm not a "boo-boy," I'm just a realist and I know what I see. It doesn't take a genius to work out that for absolutely years now (possibly since Muzz) we've lacked a central midfielder with a genuine spark that can make things happen. We can get away with it if we're going put three in the middle and over-run the midfield that way. But if you're going to play 4 - 4 - 2 you need to have at least one of your central players to be the man that makes things happen. Wellens can hit a thirty yard wonder ball one in every few attempts but that isn't creativity. He slows the game down, he's got awful vision and he's like a kid in a sweetshop if there's more than one pass on (or, worse, no obvious ball.) We've got, potentially, two tidy strikers and a solid back four (five if we include Kasper.) We might be prone to the odd wobble from Bamba, Mills and St. Ledger and Nugent has his off-days but that's just footballers at this level. The only place we've been consistently shit this year is in the middle of the park and it really needs to change.
cc_star Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 Even Sven would of won that game we played pretty similar against reading, brizzle, barnsley, cardiff & brum and lost most of those & drew the others we're mid-table, with a squad you can't make a decent 11 out of, win one lose one draw one. mid-table, thats all there is too it
dave the caveman Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 Sensible caller on RL shock. "The players lack confidence, we should get behind them and sing their names." Get me in there imo. I'm crap. I can't even run more than about ten yards without being knackered. But if you sing my name i'll magically transform into a competent professional footballer. Because that's how singing works. You sing someones name and they automatically become much, much better at what they are doing. Very sensible stuff i agree.

The only place we've been consistently shit this year is in the middle of the park and it really needs to change. Agree re Wellens Finners, disagree about King. King has generally been ineffective when played in a more advanced role (as you point out, he doesn't have the creativity/guile for this role), his good work is generally done from a deeper midfield position where he can read the game defensively and intercept opposition attacks, whilst being a stealth threat with late runs into the box. I'd jettison Wellens before King (for numerous reasons), but I'm not sure what type of midfield player I'd play alongside King to get the best outcome. We might be better served in a 4-4-1-1, with a schemer like Hoolahan, or a free spirit like a Guly do Prado, then we might be able to establish a better link between midfield and up front.

CasperBlue Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 Oh the embarrassment of only drawing at home to little Posh,
ibbosuk Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 "Weak people feel pressure" ....... 2 Goals in 14 games......
lcfcsnow Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 When Steve Howard's still coming on you know you've got a problem, all it does is give the opposition the initiative. Pointless.
purpleronnie Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 I don't think were good enough to stay in the premiership if we go up.
pb90 Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 Please stop with the constant 'this will be our easiest match all season', 'a crap, crap team', it won't, and we aren't. We've had draws away at Birmingham, Millwall etc and narrow, 1-goal unlucky losses away at Southampton/West Ham. We're naive sometimes in our tactics but that is slowly changing, and as far as I could see on the stream I watched today's game on, Posh deserve a bit of credit with some good moves being strung together. Saying that, you still probably should've beaten us if you've any hope of playoffs etc. I think other fans still think of Posh as the team of two years ago, which we most certainly aren't. We've had some great results this year, are mostly confident of avoiding relegation and are capable of getting good draws against teams like Leicester, Middlesbrough etc. Anyway, good game, good luck for the rest of the season!
Guest ttfn Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 What Finnegan said. I will add: Bamba, St Ledger, King, Wellens, Beckford and, to a lesser extent Nugent, were comically shot today. Pearson must be fuming. How much longer are people giving Beckford? One nice turn and shot today, otherwise we may as well have had Trevor Benjamin up front for all Beckford offered. Pearson will see us to the play-offs, but a lot of those players need to improve fast if they want to stay in the first XI.

I'm going to do my Thracian impression: I TOLD them we should sign Jason Koumas.   (No, not really.) We seriously need a run out for Abe. I love Abe to bits but I'm baffled by why you think he's the answer. Abe's never been that sort of player, he's always been the cover for players like Nakata, Endo and Honda to push on.

Not being funny, mate, but you are ****ing awful. First ten minutes it looked like you were going to get thundered five nil. Then I remembered I'm a Leicester fan and we can't get keep momentum up for a half, let alone a full ninety minutes. Game was there for us to take, today, you offered nothing but one or two counter attacks - one of which we cocked up defending.
Guest ttfn Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 Edit: comically shit not comically shot. I don't like Beckford but that's going too far
SMX11 Posted 10 December 2011 Posted 10 December 2011 Stringer to Pearson "Is Yuki Abe still at the club?" What a disabled.
