Tielemans63 Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 No Steve Coogan? Alexei Sayle? And Lenny Henry? That's a joke in itself.
rico Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 or Ronnie Barker, load of shite Victoria Wood, now they're having a laugh
Tielemans63 Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Looking at that list - are you sure that's not the bottom 10?
Fox92 Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 John Cleese will always be my inspiration in terms of comedy. I like to make people laugh, and try to use Cleese as an ispiration. Have great respect for him because he wrote Fawlty Towers with Connie Booth. Michael Crawford (Frank Spencer) follows him for me.

I'd add all of Monty Python- changed comedy immensely. Peter Cook is great too.
Corky Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Peter Kay- "There's always an Uncle Norman/Jack around int thurr?". He's very influential and very Bolton.
Alexikokopops Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 sean lock? Jeezzzzz I thought that Even if you ignore whether you like him or not, you can hardly call him ground breaking or influential.
I am Rod Hull Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 I thought that Even if you ignore whether you like him or not, you can hardly call him ground breaking or influential. More like influenza....
PegguyArphexad Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 No mention of Ricky Gervais. Arguably he has redefined the direction of comedy in the last decade...

ozleicester Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Im sure there were more before my time... but cmon, the list is a joke....."The Goons" anyone? edit Fkin public have no idea!
acooling08 Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Peter Kay is still the best for me. Just wow.
The Doctor Posted 30 January 2012 Posted 30 January 2012 Im sure there were more before my time... but cmon, the list is a joke....."The Goons" anyone? edit Fkin public have no idea! Yes! Love the goons. Most importantly - what the hell is Lenny Henry doing on a list of comedians?
Master Fox Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Wow, some really shit comedians in that list.
cambridgefox Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Tony Hancock,Smith and Jones at the time were very good. I would also say Charlie Higson(fast show) has written some great stuff.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Lenny Henry has definitely been influential in the sense that he's proved you can stand on stage and barely even attempt to be funny and still get a big audience. I'd say he was a direct influence on the likes of John Bishop. Influence is a bit hard to define though, isn't it? There are plenty of comedians about who have influenced virtually no-one, but it doesn't mean that they're not any good
Saxondale Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Hang on, no Jasper Carrott either. To my mind, he pioneered inoffensive, observational stand-up.
Corky Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 Peter Kay is still the best for me. And I've only watched one of his stand up shows.
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 31 January 2012 Posted 31 January 2012 No mention of Ricky Gervais. Arguably he has redefined the direction of comedy in the last decade...
